Love this place. Less busy then Jones during the holidays and they have a great Halloween Haunted Trail.

The hayride was 45 minutes long I believe there was a lot of different Christmas scenes as well as the Grinch!

What a beautiful autumn day to visit the pumpkin patch with family. There's always plenty of…read moreparking in the lot with a special closer by handicap section. It was my cousins first time here so we all went for the $8.50 each hayride, not included with the $13 each admission. We took a walk down the corn maze and took advantage of many photo ops. I like the store options better at Silverman's farm but still love and enjoy the products at Jones. I got my mother a bag of apples, my son a bottle of apple cider, and my daughter cranberry pumpkin cookies that she ended up sharing with us. They were fresh with a clean taste. I wish I would have took advantage of the coupon given to me and took the time to purchase some pumpkins before I left, but I rushed on to their nearby winery before hitting the road home.

Heard about Jones Family Farm on a radio local spotlight for Fathers Day weekend. Normally, we…read morewould go to our normal fruit picking option in Middlefield, but you don't know what you're missing if you don't try new places, right? We pulled up to the entrance and spoke with a friendly gentleman. We found out that normally, you're supposed to book online. Otherwise, you can not pick. They started this during COVID and continued it because it helped them gauge demand, staffing, etc. We weren't aware. So MAKE SURE you do this. The only reason we were able to pick was due to cancelations as the day was "iffy" from a weather standpoint. Pricing: The prices are fair. If you pack your basket tight, it can be close to grocery store pricing, and it gives you that activity to do . They provide you with a sturdy white plastic basket (I felt like Dorothy with no Toto). They have staff everywhere to help direct you toward your correct picking areas. The areas that you can pick that day were clearly marked with a yellow flag. So when we looked across the property, we saw where we needed to go without assistance. When we arrived at the patch, the staff waiting gave our group an entire row from walkway to walkway to pick without interruptions. They let us pick from either side of the row. Note: If you can't find enough strawberries, I'm your row that day. They will let you relocate to another patch section. Now! Down to the important stuff. The strawberries. Can I just say that these were the BEST quality strawberries that I've picked at a "Pick Your Own" in Connecticut, EVER. They had a wide and plentiful selection of full red strawberries of all sizes to pick from the bushes. The bushes were lush and plenty of berries that were growing for later this month. We had no trouble filling 4 baskets full of strawberries in one row. Parking at the location is grass and clearly marked. The bathrooms are portable bathrooms. They don't have a place to eat at the pick your own, but they have a winery down the street if that needs to be part of your trip. Important note: You can't bring outside food to any of the Jones property. We didn't know that (until we saw the big/clear signs) and brought our backpack right back to the car. If you follow the rules, like we did, you will have a great 1 hour - 1 hour and a half picking strawberries. I will be back next year (with a reservation), and I will recommend to anyone not sure of which PYO to go to.

They are open through 12/20. Who doesn't have trees on the brain right around Thanksgiving? We went the Saturday after and it was a perfect experience, from the selection of trees to the helpful staff to the incredibly low price of $65 per tree. We have a great room with vaulted ceilings in a chalet-style home and have wanted a huge tree since we bought the house 2 years ago. Our first Christmas in this house was last year and we bought what we had thought was a big tree, at 8 feet, but it looked tiny! We had bought it at a lot and the biggest trees were so expensive. I couldn't believe that ALL trees are the same price at Abel's! It's my first time going to an actual farm, so I'm not sure if this is standard. One of the workers asked us what we were looking for and directed us towards the blue spruce area because it had the tallest trees. There is a LOT to choose from here. We found our perfect enormous tree in minutes. What you need to know: -cash or check only -pay first and get a ticket -they provide hand saws but will allow you to bring your own. We brought a chainsaw (not encouraged, but allowed, heheheh) -there are handcarts but you may luck out like we did and someone may drive up to bring your tree down for you -they will wrap up your tree and strap it to your car Finally, tip those dudes! They deserve it. This is a novel concept to me, but apparently some folks actually tailgate here. There's a special lot for that. Now go and get your tree! It's not even 12/1 and with the way everything is going this year, you deserve that perfect tree to make the holidays at home the best that they can be.

Great family operated business! Fun to cut ur tree there every year. Goodies are great too!read more
