Decked out like a stylists idea of a New York pizza place, it featured wall to wall Noo Yawk photos and signage. Whatever. I ordered the 'special' Philly Steak on Calzone with fries and coke. Take that America! It was good, the service was excellent and the price was more than reasonable. Would I come back? Maybe but only because the alternatives seem so poor by comparison. On my first visit, I ordered the warm seasonal salad, and it was absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced -- it felt comforting but still light. You can tell they really care about quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The second time around, I tried the vegan burger, and wow -- easily one of the best I've had. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and satisfying without feeling heavy. Even if you're not vegan, it's worth trying. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff were friendly both times we visited. Consistency can be hard to find when traveling, but Gotham Cafe nailed it twice in a row. Would 100% return on our next trip to Dublin!

I met Paul there, the owner, and he could not have been more helpful. In the end (after a few games of rock paper scissors with myself) I decided to get a main course AND a 'big bite' which looked, in terms of portion size, like something between a starter and a main which I thought was a really cool idea. You could choose from this list if you were a bit hungry but not starving. I was starving though so I ordered the mac & cheese with smoked chorizo. Sweet merciful jesus it was one of the nicest things I've ever eaten. Thinking about it now makes me want to throw my laptop on the floor and sprint back for another taste. For main I ordered a pizza with caramelized onions, bbq dressing and pulled pork. Yes you might read pulled pork and say in a whiny voice 'oh wow pulled pork, how original', well it was. Just like you and everyone else, I've had my fair share of pulled pork over the last year but this stuff was beyond tasty. I'd almost ring them up and get them to change the menu to 'super special pulled pork' as it would be more apt. As you can probably tell by now I enjoyed the pizza a lot. I also thought it was a really nice touch that you could see the chef making the pizza from scratch and cooking it right in front of you. For busier times there's even a cool bar counter area right in front of the stone oven pizza with high stools where you can watch the dishes being created, almost like a live episode of Masterchef (but with better chefs and food). I've been there and I've been back and I'll go back again. This is what a real revolution looks like.

It was super snug - like really close seating next to other parties. However, it was really nice and intimate, and the service here was great and friendly. We got the salad with a baked block of goat cheese, and oh my, it was heavenly. Served with mixed greens, tomato, garbanzo beans and drizzled in olive oil and balsamic. The pizza was really great too, really simple and the bread on the pizza was perfect (the restaurant has a huge pizza oven so you know the pizza here is made legit). Saving the best for last, the past of the day, which had prawns, zucchini, tomatoes with bucatini, and the sauce is white wine, but it was like a creamy red, and no complaints. This is probably the best pasta dish we've had in a while and we were so satisfied. So glad we found this gem during our short stay in Dublin, and if you're craving good Italian food, check this place out.

My companion and I shared a bruschetta al pomodoro which was so moreish I was sorry we hadn't ordered one each. Two of the party opted for monkfish with pappardelle which was cooked to perfection. I had the penne with salsiccia which was superb and plentiful. A couple of bottles of montepulciano reserva later we headed back across the river sated and satisfied. "But why, Brian, is it not," you ask? Many of you may know that my wife uses a wheelchair, so that is usually first on my mind when visiting any establishment. We check to see if it says its accessible. And Wood Fire said it was! Yay! Except, well, sort of yes, sort of no. We were able to get in the door. The first door, to the outside covered seating area. No chance of getting in the second door into the building proper, because that had stairs. But that was ok. It was a nice night out and we were happy to sit in the covered outside area. But is a place really accessible if the toilets are not? Not only would the stairs have been an issue, but there's no way her wheelchair could have navigated through the restaurant to the back, and once there, forget it. Way too small and narrow for a chair to get in there. So yeah, great food, nice people, we had a good time. But I'm not sure "accessible" is accurate.
