So I had avoided going to the dentist for years. When I finally worked up some nerve, I called a number of dental offices, and eventually booked an appointment with this one because the receptionist was warm, patient, and happy to give me as much information as I needed to get past some of my fear. The clinic itself is big and busy. The layout is interesting; it's situated primarily underground, but has sunlights for some natural light. It's clean, and shiny, and has a fishtank, which gives nervous nellie's like me something to focus on. I was booked in with Dr. Al Attar who was utterly patient and gentle with me and explained everything as he did it. The hygienist I saw on my second visit was equally patient and accommodating. I felt supported and cared for and will actually make it back for a six month cleaning, having conquered some of my fear with this clinic. It's not getting five stars because it's still a dental clinic - still expensive for those of us without coverage, and still scary and hard to navigate. Perhaps if they had a petting zoo in the waiting room...

While my teeth are aesthetically straight, I always had a hunch that my alignment was off and she was the first to point it out and the reasons behind, giving me a referral to another specialist as a health concern, rather than for aesthetics. I feel like most dentists try to sell you on additional treatments just to make extra money but she really seems to bring out concerns I had for a while and explain what options I have. She is very knowledgeable compare to the dentists I've tried in the past through gift card recommendations on sign up. She was kind to do my first dental cleaning as well as the consultation. While it could be because the dental hygienist couldn't make it to the shift, she explained she actually enjoyed doing it for the first appointment, so she can assess the teeth closer. She's really personable and easy to talk to and learned a lot about how she got in the business and her family. I'm sure she can put even those most reluctant at ease. The clinic also follows full COVID protocols, you'll have to sign forms online/in-person. Pens are sanitized between uses. Appropriate barriers are in place. They also followed up with me and asked if I have developed any COVID symptoms since I've visited. I wish they had an automatic charge on my insurance like some other health providers. That would've saved me the trouble of dealing with admin work of submitting my receipts.

I wanted a cleaning and a rebonding of my front tooth. I've had this done before, with the same time between dental visits, and it was done in one appointment, not a big deal. Under two hours - not a severe case. This place dragged my process out to three separate appointments, used up my entire year's worth of dental insurance plus hundreds of dollars more, and they did not even end up giving me a full restoration of the front tooth. Instead of rebonding, it was suggested that I remove the initial bonding, which we did, but this involved under five minutes of shaving a tooth upon my final appointment. I was provided a supposedly complimentary whitening kit to use at home and asked to come in for yet another followup visit. Meanwhile I was charged as if they had provided full, end-result service. As a new client, you are required to take 1.25 hours upon initial visit to sit through an exam and diagnosis. I believe that they prefer to dizzy you with unnecessary details to waste time. I was not once during my three visits given a straight talk-through on what to expect. Their goal is to keep you coming for more appointments. Do your research -- this practice is all about the hustle. The front desk and hygienists are absolutely friendly, but there are so many better, more adept and honest dental providers in the dt that are worth putting your mouth, money, and time into.

I've experienced multiple incidents that have me and my partner looking for a new Dentist. They have a text messaging system that is just incredibly annoying. I received one text advising me I had been overcharged and requested that I update my address to be refunded. I thought it was odd to get a text versus a call with someone apologizing for their mistake. I promptly called and updated my address. A week later I get the same message, I call back, my address is up to date. I assumed it was an administrative error and gave it a pass. One month later I get the message again and I call back, they promise its been corrected and request to no longer receive text message alerts. Then it happens again, I call back and finally get reimbursed about 3 months later. I had booked my 6 month follow up appointment immediately after to ensure I had a set time that worked for me with the hygienist I liked. I received a call on the day of my appointment letting me know I was 30 minutes late to my appointment. This was the result of me requesting to be taken off the text messaging alerts. I did not receive prior notification of my upcoming appointment. They said I received an email as well and gave verbal confirmation of my appointment over the phone. Which did not! My email was incorrect in their system and had to be corrected, I had to reschedule my appointment and the earliest I could get was 2 months out. The straw that broke the camels back was my partner also having an awful experiences. On multiple occasions his follow up appointments have been rescheduled. There was one instance where he received a call to reschedule and later on the same day was called again by the admin to see if his reschedule appointment could be moved again. They have also overcharged him and since has been seeing this Dentist he has NEVER had an appointment not be re-scheduled on him. Its such a shame to have to look for another Dentist and hygienist. Its so hard to find ones that is as great as this place but the management of the place is just so horrible and frustrating that I just cant see myself going back.

My husband insisted that I needed to go and found a local clinic, Brock North. "Don't worry," he said,"I'll be there holding your hand the whole time." Dr. Fernandez was very supportive and understanding of my panic (the result of a lifetime of truly horrible dental experiences). He told me that I needed a root canal, and I screamed (according to my husband), "Just pull it out!!." He insisted on saving the tooth. The root canal, 16 years later, is still brilliant. And 16 years later, I am still a patient. They didn't have any problem with my husband joining me for my appointments during the first four years, and my husband, son and daughter also became clients of Brock North Dental. All I can say is Thank You, Brock North Dental and Dr. Fernandez. For anyone with any fear of dentists, I urge you to give Brock North Dental a try. It's not scary, I promise! Also, Dr. Fernandez set me up with a great dental hygienist, named Donna, and the receptionists know that she generally does all of my cleanings. Donna is not only a great hygienist, but also an interesting and compassionate person. Anyway, I called after a few days to speak with someone responsible, the manager at the main branch was apologetic but the manager at Scarborough was uncouthly. Arrogant lady, considering I am a cash paying patient without health insurance. During my visit, I was baffled when the manager Gin introduced the dentist Lila by her first name. I checked their website for the doctors but only Dr Arlene was identified. They later confirmed that Lila is general dentist. It was strange that the manager calls the doctor by first name, too casual, got me confused and lack of trust. I bet she would not call Dr Arlene, just Arlene. The manager Gin or however it is spelled, invalidated my concerns but pointing out that I was happy when I left and my call took her by surprise, told her I was being polite and I needed time to think. She bragged that my bill was supposed to be 313 but she gave me a 13 dollar discount so I asked her to email the bill with items but the discount was not even there, which means pricing was not legit. You should price your services accordingly. I asked Gin for my xray copies but she only intended to email it, Miss, I would not pay 150 for xray that you can't even print. I regret listening to my sister and visiting this Filipino clinic. My sister had gone for the first time and got way more with her 300 but I got less because they knew I'm paying and as when I talked about my sister's file, Gin shut me off that my sister's file was confidential as we are both consenting adults. I agree with this, is this why you never confirmed my appointment to my phone and would always try to reach my sister like I was a minor? And when I couldn't answer your call today as I was on the phone with Tam, you called my sister again like it was her business. Gin was sarcastic and mocked me when I said that it was not state of the art, but this is a fact and I am not ashamed of it as I have been to way better clinics, and considering your price point - it's a shame. It's not only well decorated but the staff and receptionists make you feel well taken care of and welcomed as well. I have had multiple teeth cleaning appointments and also had two of my wisdom teeth extracted here as well. The nurses and doctors make you feel safe and they treat you very well. This is the best dental clinic I have ever been to and I will continue to come here in the future!
