Tucked away in the business building in the village of Fairport, a cozy coffee shop with views of the canal. I got a cappuccino and my boyfriend got a latte. Both were delicious! There were tables, with a few couches and armchairs. My only concern were the seats were pretty rundown and the chairs were pretty uncomfortable. Hopefully the construction ends soon, for a better view of the canal, but overall a low key cozy coffee shop. read more

This place is walking distance from my job, so I figured I would give it a shot. I ordered two iced lattes, one regular and one mocha. They only have 12 oz drinks which is ridiculous but whatever. The barista didn't know what she was doing. She steamed the milk for both lattes so clearly, she wasn't properly trained on different types of lattes. For those who don't know, NEVER STEAM MILK FOR ICED DRINKS. My drink tastes burnt and there are espresso grounds at the bottom. Coffee shops are some of my favorite places in the world. Sadly, not this one. Opens too late to be useful for the pre-work crowd (8am!) and the coffee was not good, acrid and bitter. Pastries are sad and usually wrapped in plastic wrap, so croissants, which are meant to be flaky and crisp on the outside, are moist and mushy. I don't get the hype about this place. My friend and I were looking for someplace quick to grab a bite to eat in the area and we chose to come here. I saw on Yelp that they offered fresh juices which I was looking forward to, but I was disappointed once I discovered they no longer offered them. They were offering free samples of their Fairbooch kombucha so we tried a few different flavors. I was not impressed with the taste of any of the flavors I tried. I ordered the honey goat toast(goat cheese, honey and walnuts on 9 grain toast). It took awhile for them to prepare my toast, but it tasted great once I got it! My friend got one of their white chocolate lemon cookies and it was delicious. If I'm in the area again I would return to try a coffee and grab a pastry and give them another shot! read more

Love to come here to start my days off right. I've had hot coffee and iced coffee, as well as chai-- all good! What I love is that I can ask for something not on the menu and they don't even think I'm being weird. I love the combination of honey and cinnamon in coffee and they have both those things--just in separate drinks. I've asked for it several times now and they are pretty consistent considering different people have made it. I love their breakfast sandwiches too. The English muffins are probably the best I've ever had... I wonder where they get them... This is a great place to stop quick if you want to walk along the canal or if you have a good book in need of reading. I feel comfortable bringing my young son here for a snack too. He loves when I order a side of strawberries for him! I often meet a friend and her daughter here too. Great place to catch up! This is such a great café. The lattes are phenomenal (pictured is the vanilla bean latte...with actual vanilla beans!) and the fresh pressed juice is great too. My boyfriend and I both tried breakfast sandwiches--the OG Sammy and the Sausage Sammy. They were pretty good, but we both noticed that everything kind of blends together and there isn't really a predominant flavor. Regardless they were still delicious and we got to enjoy our meals with a view of the canal. East Side coffee shop game changer! Through all the reincarnations of this location, FairPour is not only the cleverest of all names, but also the most improves in aesthetic, ambiance and product. They did an amazing job in the redesign. Never had I thought this place could be so neat, airy and open. I just remember the exposed brick and super old couches that gave the place that quaint cozy feel but you also had to wonder how much gross that furniture has seen through the years. They did keep some of he couches and it works with the new look! The best way to describe it to City coffee shop patrons, this is the Glen Edith of the East. Suitably, they serve Glen Edith Roasters products as well. You can get all the trendy caffeine without making the drive into the City for those of us who reside on this neck of the woods. They have fresh homemade simple syrups, though I am not sure if the popular lavender is always on hand. The owner plans to have music on certain nights. Much like their predecessors had with open mic. However, he is solely working with local talent. We are so lucky to have FairPour! I look forward to all the knitting and conversations I will be doing here. read more

Bummer! This place is not going to last. Pour over coffee takes so longggg. Bar is small so you can't even really enjoy the experience like at Joe Bean. This space would do a lot better with more of a Starry Nights vibe- regular coffee and more cafe food. Fairport is in the burbs, burbs have families, families don't have time for pour over coffee. My sister had a bridal fitting nearby and we were looking to grab a quick bite after. I lived in Fairport for a few years in college and remember the Towpath cafe as being a fine place to grab a quick bite. Upon arrival, we learned that the cafe was under new ownership and now called FairPour. Things are still unclear to me - pretty sure Towpath still exists but no longer in the cafe area by the canal. Signage is also incredibly confusing and still incorrect. We decided to give it a shot and put in an order for three paninis and water. We waited 10 minutes for water which was not a huge deal, and then another 15 for the sandwiches which was perplexing. We were the only people in the cafe and it was about 7:20PM when we arrived. There was only 1 person working. The sandwiches were JUST edible, but I will say the ciabatta bread they use is very tasty. However, the prosciutto on my mom and sister's was absolutely vile. A strange color, slimey in the gross way - not the tasty prosciutto way, and completely rubbery. My turkey was still completely cold and the gouda was not melted at all. A total pet peeve of mine when it comes to the panini life. This was all amplified by the strange behavior of the person serving us. As he brought out the food, he came up to us and said "please don't forget to take all of your things with you when you leave." I believe they closed at 8 (which was news to us since we thought we were eating at Towpath - open later) so that might be an explanation for the comment? Even so it was rude and left my fam with blank stares all around. Two stars are for the hope that this spot improves as it spends more time under new ownership, and the benefit of the doubt that the coffee (Glen Edith) and crepes are both better than the paninis. Overall, it was perhaps the most strange "dining" experience I have had in a long time. I would say give it a shot for coffee but stay away from sandos. read more

I think my expectations were too high. It isn't very good. This isn't a true coffee and tea house. My husband ordered iced coffee and had to convince them that he got an iced tea by mistake. The young girl behind the counter couldn't tell the difference. I ordered a chai tea. It was good but it is just a sweet syrup with frothed milk. Nothing spectacular. Seems like a nice place to be in bring laptop and work. You can get a quick drink. But it lacked the distinctive feel and smells of an authentic tea and coffee house. It took us forever to find it. Even locals had no clue where the place is. This is why Starbucks is so popular. They have that "feeling" and those undeniably smells. I would rather support local though. Great location. Owners please invest in a true barista and knowledgeable staff and you have a goldmine on your hands! Hope you make a few changes as it is a superb idea and location. Good luck. read more

I especially love their avocado toast, which has a little salt and sun dried tomatoes on it to give it a little extra flavor. My husband and I found this place about 2 months ago...since then we have gone back about 5-6 times. We live 30 minutes away but the best mocha we have found. We really enjoy the atmosphere and their new location. The staff is accommodating as we have two young kids we get a hot chocolate for them to share and they split it between two to go cups. We really enjoyed the games as it would keep our kids occupied while we enjoyed our mochas. My husband and I loved this place! A cute coffee shop with a clever name, FairPour is so much better than having a huge Towpath Cafe (which was really, really terrible). The barista, Jasmine, was knowledgeable, friendly, and great at making lattes. We tried the Manhattan Latte and Lavendar Cardamom Latte -- and highly recommend both. The prices were similar to other coffee shops in the city. We also came on a Wednesday night, which as a bonus has an open mic night (with a standing act - and he is amazing!) and $2 off drafts. There are plenty of tables of various sizes, great lighting, and good house music too. I'm definitely interested in coming back in the evening for another date night or in the morning for trying breakfast. The kombucha and juice look good, too! read more

I stopped in last week after hearing great things on social media about their fresh juices. I was blown away at their attention to detail as not only their juices but their lattes and hot chocolates are seasonally appropriate. I had the Yuletide fresh juice (made to take in a mason jar) which was cranberries, carrot, green apple and oranges. Perfect for the start of the holiday season. First time in the new location and we just had beverages. A matcha latte with oat milk that was fair and a mystery latte that was also fair. We really loved the quaintness of the old location. This one is designed modern industrial but does have more light and seating options both inside and out. The menu has expanded with the increased kitchen space but the staff were on the cool side and didn't look very happy to be here. The customer service was bland unlike the staff at the old location. So I'm giving it 3 stars. I'm a fan of good customer service something sorely lacking these days. That would have bumped up the rating. I grew up in Fairport but have moved around a great deal in the last 10 or so years, mostly to larger cities with excellent cafes. FairPour holds up well to most of those cafes, and serves excellent espresso beverages, pour over and nitro coffee, as well as tea, raw juice, and iced beverages. The food - paninis and crepes - as well as the coffee are far superior to previous cafes in this location (and better than most coffee in Rochester, frankly). Have yet to try the juice, but it looks good. Food prices are quite reasonable. Ambiance - cozy, relatively quiet even when busy. The room handles noise well. Cleaner than the old Towpath/FVC. Could use a couple paintings, and I miss some of the old brick, which gave the room a nice texture. But the furniture is cleaner and nicer overall. Still has a mix of comfortable seating and cafe tables. Only one, very minor, complaint. The price of the coffee is a little high, even for a specialty shop. A cappuccino here runs $4, while similar quality caps in San Diego (my current home) run around $3.50. Not the biggest deal, and may be because FairPour buys their coffee from Glenn Edith rather than roasting their own, or may be due to the newness of the new location. But it did surprise me a little, given how pricey San Diego rent is relative to Rochester. Either way, that might be a turn-off to some locals, but likely not an issue for their target demographic. Overall, I will certainly be back whenever I am in town. read more

Was initially concerned over the low ratings. We stayed for the night on our little trawler going through and were planning to go to a nearby dinner. Walking over the lift bridge we talked with the operator, Drey, that told us the diner was closed but that FairPour was very good in his opinion so we decided to try it and was he right! I ordered the pulled pork breakfast sandwich on a pretzel bun but with a sunny side up egg. It was just fantastic! I think i only had one better breakfast sandwich in my life (brisket Benedict in St Louis) Perfectly toasted bun, generous pile of pulled pork, a slice of just melting smoker gouda and the runny egg! Very hard to find. No signs and you have to wander through an office building to get to it --possibly due to construction on the Main Street but that's not an excuse for lack of signs. Also, not a place with lots of flexibility. One size... which is a small but priced like a large ($4+). No 2% milk, just whole or skim. Alternative milk like almond costs extra. Cute coffee shop! We came in through the bridge side which was a little awkward. We had a stroller with us and had to carry it down the stairs to get to the place. Maybe a sign with something in regards to another entrance would be helpful. Anywho, we just stopped in for coffee and a quick snack. My husband and I both got the nitro cold brew. It was fairly strong but had a good taste. Not as bitter as most. I also ordered the avocado toast which was really good. Not a fan, I did come here during Fairport canal days and loved the coffee. I just came in to relax get a coffee and read. They have tables but no chairs so you can't sit outside. After we left we found out the porch with the awesome set up is towpath. Mind you after their manager had left that's when the two workers started goofing off. Girl with clear classes and boy with red hair. Playing this game they call Guessing peoples relationships, and in front of my partner and I they decided to judge us, while we were reading and talking about us behind the counter. Definitely immature. Mind you we just came here to get coffees and read for a little while. I will not be giving this company my business, its a shame.
