We have stayed at this particular Fairfield many times when we travel to Rockford to see the Ice Hogs. We live 45-60 minutes away, but the weather in Illinois in the winter is so unpredictable, I would rather book a night (or two) at a hotel than drive in the snow (I have been in Illinois for 53 of my 57 years... I hate snow/winter). This hotel is always clean and the breakfast is always very good. The staff is always polite and helpful. The rooms are a little run down but we are really only there to sleep, not hang out in our room. This review is about something that happened two weeks ago. We had tickets for a Hogs game for Saturday night. I booked two rooms at the Fairfield... on Friday morning, my doctor called me and told me I would be spending the weekend in the hospital. Ugh! I went to the hospital and after I was sure I was going to be admitted and was going to be stuck there for the entire weekend, I called the Fairfield to cancel our rooms knowing I was going to have to do it at a loss (I told my family they could go without me, but they wanted to be home just in case I needed them). The front desk was sooooo nice ... she canceled the reservation at no charge and was completely empathetic. I was so bummed and I am sure she could hear it in my voice. Thank you so much Fairfield for being so kind. We will be back next season! read more

Great customer service. We were treated really well here. The place was clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean but the tub faucets could use an upgrade. Parking lot was pretty full. Luckily it wraps all the way around, so there were a couple spots to park in. Just know you may have to walk a little bit to get to the door. Not horrible unless you have a disability or a lot of luggage. We had neither of those and didn't mind. Just a head's up though. read more

As we were traveling from Texas to Wisconsin we stayed a night at the very nice Fairfield Inn in Rockford. Everyone was friendly, breakfast was fresh and rooms were comfortable. After arriving in Door County, Wisconsin we realized all of our medications were left at the hotel in Rockford, Ky. Before we headed back to get it I called to make sure they were there. A wonderful woman by the name of Terry answered, she knew exactly what I was calling to find out. Terry offered, yes OFFERED, to drive it the to Fed Ex office and ship it to Wisconsin where we were staying. She even paid for it, trusting that I would send her a reimbursement. Marriott,Terry is a jewel, please take good care of her. Because of her, we stayed in Marriotts for the rest of our 5,500 mile driving trip. Thank you Terry for being an extraordinary person. Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Rockford - Hotels Near Me - Rockford, Illinois

This is a very old property that really should not be in the Marriott portfolio as it does not meet their standards of service. We were placed on the first floor across from the fitness center and around the corner from the front desk. I am assuming this is because we used our Marriott points for our stay. We have redeemed points in the past and as a gold elite member, we have not experienced a penalty for redeeming our free night. Service was great but the room was dingy and lacked a blackout curtain. Fortunately. there was a tree and air conditioning unit that partially obscured the view into our room since anyone could see us that evening from the sidewalk and parking lot. We had to change and hide out in the darkened room to preserve our modesty. The television didn't give off much light as it was the size of a computer monitor. The bed was lumpy and the sheets smelled strongly of bleach. We could smell the complimentary breakfast the minute it was put out for guests as the walls were paper thin. Fortunately, our neighbors were considerate and observed curfew hours as we could actually hear the conversations of the group staying in the room next door. This room was offered on the Marriott site for $265 - definitely not worth it. While we are loyal Marriott members, if you need to stay in Rockford, the Hilton next door is much nicer and the rooms that our family reserved there were newer and much more comfortable. Again - service was good, no complaints there but this property did not meet Marriott standards. read more

Staff was friendly and nice. The rooms were okay, nothing special. But a place to lay our head as a sports team. The breakfast is what you would expect and lobby was good for parents at night. I would say I was asked no less than 3 times by maid staff what room I was in or if I was leaving before 830. Not even close to checkout. It's a bit overbearing. read more

It feels like we have stayed in a lot of Fairfield Inns the last year or so and thus I feel like I am a pretty good judge of them. This one was in very good shape and I was pleased to get a rare Gold member upgraded room. The staff at the front desk and the lady running the breakfast buffet were all friendly and helpful. The room itself was spacious and well kept. The whole hotel seemed to have been recently renovated. I recommend staying here especially since at this exit off of the highway there are 19 hotels! Close to the interstate on the Hardrock Casino. Older property for the Marriott portfolio but the staff was wonderful! Breakfast and host especially caring for us and anything we wanted. Room was dated but very clean. Diffently a good stop for a one nighter. read more

We have stayed at a lot of Marriott's and this hotel was mediocre. The good: it has a hot tub, which is hard to find now! That was very appreciated and relaxing. The lobby and breakfast area are nice/updated. The breakfast attendant, Mary, was sooo kind and helpful! Many kudos to her! The bad: Smallest tv I have ever seen in a hotel! It was like a computer monitor. The wifi was down when we checked in which was quite frustrating to deal with. We had to spend time on the phone with a technical support rep from another country for quite a while to try to get synced to the wifi. I don't think this should have been necessary. The room felt damp and was pretty outdated. Overall, I do not think I would stay at this hotel again. read more

The place was being remodeled. I believe my room was already remodeled, because it smelled, faintly, like marijuana. I went to open the window to help vent, but the windows are solid and do not even have the little pull out vent feature to help, so I just ran the fan on in the bathroom to help air it out. Even with the remodel and the fact that there was a basketball tournament being held, the place was quiet. Extremely easy access to the Toll freeway and there is a Steak n Shake nearby. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, like every Marriott I ever been to. Bed was a bit soft for my taste. I get waking up with back pain, but I sleep on a stiffer mattress. Just my personal preference. WiFi did what it was supposed to. Very pleasant experience. read more

FI was crowded but the staff took the full hotel with aplomb- no issues whatsoever. Add to that some significant snow but no issue - parking lot cleared continuously with the falling snow. Rooms were fairly up to date albeit a bit small, but there was a good size fridge - not the mini ones usually seen. Staff was great and the bfast acceptable given it's a Fairfield. Close to the highway and restaurants. Only issue is the small parking lot - but it's right next to the Hilton GI so can park in that lot if needed. read more

I stayed here because the Courtyard was sold out and I'm glad that I did! I arrived to an open parking lot and got a space close to the door. I arrived and was immediately greeted was offered a bottle of water. I was thanked for being an Elite member and was told about free breakfast and free WIFI. This place is modern with an excellent color scheme (green is my favorite color). I arrived to my room and was pleased to see that the room was actually a suite. I have had experiences where rooms were advertised as suites and they really were not suites. I had a room with a TV, a couch, a chair and a work desk that was separate from the bedroom which also had a TV. The bed was comfortable enough. The only thing that I could have used for a one night stay was an iHome. The restroom even had an exhaust fan. The restroom was very standard but the exhaust fan was a plus and the shower maintained the same temperature throughout the shower. I was please with the room, the service and the free perks including free parking. This was a four star stay! i will be staying here upon my next visit to Rockford. read more

Arrived at 1:20 AM to check in with a 3 night reservation. The doors were locked (as one would expect that late at night) but nobody answered the door or phone. Stood in the entry way for over half an hour trying to contact them, and on hold with Marriott corporate. Ended up going next door to stay at the Hilton. Staying here for five days for a Baseball Tournament. Super adorable nice gal at the check in desk. However no microwave in room. No refrigerator in room. Rooms are pretty tiny and sparsely furnished. Bizarre hallway carpet with bright yellow dot pattern that is disorienting and I imagine could induce seizures. Toilet was broken, someone there had tried to fix the pull chain to the flapper with a safety pin that rusted through. Jacuzzi out of order on a holiday weekend!!!! One of the two elevators now out of order, Jacuzzi still down after a week. Guest computers both frozen up and one of the two printers down. Wow. Most annoying was at breakfast, where they have an Eric Cartman look alike guy who stands literally over you, hands on hips, while you get your food, which is quite sparse compared to normal best westerns I've stayed at. I am continually impressed by Fairfield properties. I decided to book a hotel for a class at the last minute since they were calling for large amounts of snow. I had no problem booking and upon arrival, discovered that I had been updated to a suite due to my rewards status. The front desk lady was extremely busy but also very polite. What stole the show for me this morning though, was when I went outside to leave for my class, they were already out shoveling. My car got stuck in the snowdrift and the gentleman shoveling dug out my parking spot so I could get out. Definitely not something that he had to do, but definitely something appreciated! My husband and I were in town for a wedding, so we were looking to have a great weekend. We liked how this place was very close to a lot of restaurants, and easy to get around, even on foot. Before we checked in, we had gone to get some beer and liquor for the weekend...we wanted to have a good time! Checking in was easy, and the staff at the front desk is very helpful and nice. My husband wanted a quieter area of the hotel, so they put us on the 4th floor. The original room we checked in to did not have a fridge, so before we did anything, I called down to see if there was a room available with a fridge, which there was. So we moved just a couple doors down, and into a much larger room with a living room set-up as well as a microwave and fridge. We were really happy about all of that. Only downside to the room was there was a large stain on the window curtains, but no big deal. We will definitely be back to this Fairfield next time we visit Rockford. We really appreciated being helped by friendly people with a smile on their face! read more

My favorite place to stay in Rockford. Being a platinum member with Marriott, I do get the usual service such as room upgrades etc. Good combination of value, quality, and service. I had an issue with housekeeping barging in to my room with "do not disturb" sign on my door during a teleconference meeting that I was running. I contacted the front desk staff and the property manager emailed me back. This tells me that complaints are not ignored but addressed. Free breakfast and internet and very friendly staff read more

Fairfield Suites across the board has improved their hotels. Rooms are spacious and clean. I like the beds, pillows and sheets. Sleeping is quite comfortable. Mid afternoon they bake cookies and put them in the front desk for your enjoyment. Breakfast has a good variety of food including scrambled eggs (ok), waffles (ok), patty sausage (ok) and other fruits, cereal, muffins, toast etc. It's enough to get your day started. They have drinks and snacks for purchase at the front desk. The lobby is clean, new and inviting. The one thing I don't like about this particular location is the pool. It's small and I saw on two different days people with a mini van pulled up along the pool door with kids hanging out going in and out of the van into the pool. Not sure if they were staying here, but It looked a little sketchy. There were also people in the parking lot at different times during our stay that looked a little sketchy as well. Fairfield Inn and suites has stepped up its game the last couple of years. I gave only 3 stars on this location just because of the area it's in. But on the inside of this hotel, it ranks up with any other Fairfield Inn out there except for the small pool. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. read more

Cons: Rooms are too small, walls are too thin, pillows are ridiculous, paper products are horrible, very small pool (which we didn't indulge b/c there were too many children in it to enjoy). Requested additional pillows b/c they were so thin & was told they were booked & did not have any available. Offered to give me an extra blanket "to roll up", which I took---it was stained! Ick! They keep deleting my google review! I am posting this on yelp as well. I was reading the reviews. I cannot believe Marriott allows the General Manager Janet respond to her negative comments in the manner in which she does. After my experience at this hotel and with Janet, I am not shocked at her defensive retaliation against loyal Marriott guests. The comments are nothing but defensive, Janet constantly saying they are #1 on Trip Advisor. I was traveling for soccer. This is my first bad hotel experience and we travel a lot! The first (of three)rooms we were in, had TWO cockroaches, confirmed by Nakia at the front desk. Janet later said they were just roaches, not cockroaches. Like it should matter. Janet was off for the weekend- as she deserves. Janet had to step in and help Nakia on her weekend off because as Nakia stated, Janet is the only one who can make decisions regarding these horrific matters. I was told by the front desk that if it were them, they would pack up and go elsewhere. I had a one year old, a 14 year old, the hotel was 5 minutes from the field and the front desk told me there was nothing available nearby. I had to empty out my stuff from the cockroach room, took all items outside, had to shake all of my belongings out and let them sit outside in hopes any cockroaches that may have got in my belongings, could escape. Before leaving for soccer for the morning, I got good news, they suddenly had a room open up for us. I was given the key right away, and I headed to the room. Upon entering, it smelled of covered up smoke. I knew right away, I could not let my kids stay overnight in a room that smelled like smoke. I was in a rush, I had to set my stuff and get my 14 year old to his soccer. When I went into the bathroom to set our toiletries down there were black pubic hairs in the tub. I could not believe I was handed keys to dirty room. I went to the desk, told Nakia. She then sent her crews back in to clean the room. I did know that I was not staying in that room overnight due to the smoke smell, but I needed somewhere to leave my items until we returned from soccer. Nakia sent her crews back to "deep" clean the smoke room- they were in there maybe 10 minutes. Even though I was told they were going to strip the room and do a full cleaning, as ANY customer deserves. I went to set my suitcase down in the room so we could head to soccer. The nice maid asked me check over the room. I opened the dresser draw only to find TWO long black hairs and a wrapper. I was done. The maid was embarrassed. She wiped it down in front of me and left the room. I told Nakia. I left my items because I had to leave at this point- knowing I would need to handle this when I got back. Janet called me while I was at soccer. She was sorry, and went to dig into the situation. She called me back, admitted her cleaning crew did not give the OK to move someone into the room. I appreciated the honesty. Janet then pulled some strings and got me into another room, the third room. By this time, I was at soccer, missing all of it because I was on the phone dealing with this. Janet asked if I could get back to the hotel so that I could empty my stuff out of the smoke / hair room so it could be cleaned for someone else. I said sure, I will be back by 1:30. I rushed back, got the keys to my new room from the desk, went to the room and it was still be cleaned. Meanwhile, I am still camping out with kids, waiting for a room. My cousin who was with me, was upset that I was dealing with this. She called Janet and needless to say, they didn't get along. My cousin was irate and Janet did not professionally handle an upset customer. She also told my cousin that " no matter what room I was to get, it would not be up to my standards. I called Janet and asked her why she would say that about me. Am I wrong that cockroaches, pubic har, smoke smell are un acceptable? That I received keys to a dirty room after finding cockroaches on floor 2? She also promised me extra Marriott points for my issues and I am STILL waiting on them. I ran our of room on google. I need to mention. Janet also said MARRIOTT was "sorry they had to deal with you". She literally put down an employee from her own company. I did not take this to heart because the Marriott bonvoy worker who helped me was in fact very nice and professional! I am utterly shocked at this whole situation. We stay in Marriott's all of the time. We have never encountered anything like this. I would avoid this hotel at all cost. read more

Very disappointed for this place to be a SUITES and not have a microwave in any rooms. You can use the microwave in the lobby. The same as Courtyard. This is sad. I won't demand a microwave and/or a fridge if its a regular Fairfield Inn. FYI, I'm a Lifetime Platinum member so I've traveled extensively and have stayed in various Marriott hotel chains. Great hotel. Clean, new, friendly service and spacious rooms. not 5 stars for two reasons: 1. Listed as "suites" except rooms don't have a mini fridge or a microwave (not terrible mind you, just would have been a nice option) and 2. I was on the bottom floor and every time the room above me flushed their toilet it sounded like a freight train descending the walls. It was noticeable from the bed so that is the only reason i mention it. Obviously it doesn't occur that often, but its annoying. The breakfast was fantastic and the hotel is in walking distance of several nice restaurants and walmart. Great place to stay in Rockford for the money. I definitely recommend.. read more

Clean, modern and updated. Our jr suite had a lot of room. Microwave and mini fridge and two TVs. The beds weren't the most comfortable but we were only there for a night so was manageable. The only part that sucked was construction at 9am on New Year's Day! I wasn't aware at booking that this was going on but I guess it is what it is. Wonderful! Nice spacious room, super comfortable beds, great breakfast - what more could you ask for? Water pressure for shower was also very nice - the massage feature actually felt like something. No funny smells or any other typical hotel complaint that I can think of. Only minus for us ( a family of 4) was that the pool was small and the whirlpool was out of commission during our stay. This place rocks. Stayed here for an extended stay (11 nights) with my in-laws and had our 9 month old with us. The staff accommodated everything we needed, and did so with a smile every time. They had no issue with us having to check in after midnight, and provided us with a pack and play for the baby, free of charge. We weren't staying in one of the suites, but ALL of the staff was incredibly gracious about chilling our bottles and icepacks in their locked fridge and freezer in the main floor kitchen. We constantly had bottles in and out of there and no one ever once looked put out about getting them for us. One of the evening guys even gave our daughter a little rubber ducky toy. They have a huge lobby with lots of seating, which was great for hanging out with visiting family and friends. The breakfast lounge (big free breakfast!) has a giant screen TV and a DVD player available. There's a "market" in the lobby, stocked with everything from sunscreen and film to microwave popcorn, sodas, and small frozen dinners. The entire hotel is impeccably clean. We let our daughter crawl all over the floor in our rooms, the lounge, and the lobby. They've also got a small indoor pool, hot tub, workout room, and business center. Basically, you could move right in and never leave. It's also very easy to find as it's right off the freeway, although I never heard the freeway when we were inside. It's also right next to a ton of restaurants, a large AMC theater (just across the freeway), and close to Walmart and a mall in case you forgot to pack anything. A+ staff made us feel right at home. I would definitely stay here again if we return to Rockford! read more

We stayed at this hotel overnight, the gentleman who checked us in was less than thrilled and had a suit on that had holes all over it. If that wasn't the worst part either, our room come to find out has BED BUGS that ended up coming home with us. We have called the hotel several times to speak with someone regarding this and every time they hang up on us. I have put out thousands of dollars to replace thr beds in my house!!! This has been going on since November. I would NEVER stay at this hotel or recommend anyone else do until they clean up their bed bug infestation. read more

We celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary in Rockford and 40 of us stayed at the Fairfield. The location, staff and rooms were absolutely wonderful. Even though the hotel was sold out- a wedding group, ultimate Frisbee team members as well as families- it was quiet and still felt warm. The staff was very friendly and helpful at every turn. We requested a number of porta-cribs and they were in the rooms upon check in. A few people wanted to checked in early and were accommodated. The queen size beds and wide breakfast options were both treats. Nice exercise facility and hot tub. It was a great experience! read more
