I've been a loyal customer of Fair Oaks Auto Care for years, and they have consistently been fast, reliable, and honest. As someone who does not know much about cars, it is a huge relief to have a mechanic I can trust to recommend only the work my car actually needs. Most recently, a dealership quoted me nearly $2,000 for several repairs and maintenance services, (just the vitals because I couldn't afford it all) including spark-plug replacement, transmission service, and fluid changes, and one other thing. Fair Oaks Auto Care completed the necessary work for well under $900--and also included several (like 8+) additional maintenance services my car needed, including an oil change! (yes, yes, I haven't been taking care of my car for awhile) I was genuinely impressed by how much more value I received for the price. Their rates were more than fair, the work was completed efficiently, and they explained everything clearly without pressuring me into unnecessary services. It is also clear that many of their customers are long-time repeat customers, which says a lot about the trust they have built in the community. I highly recommend Fair Oaks Auto Care to anyone looking for dependable service and honest pricing. read more

I payed $900 for them to put a power steering pump and hose.i drove the car for about two weeks and then it started leaking again.so I called them back, took my car back in.they said they replaced the hose again. But once again two weeks later it started leaking again.so I just got rid of the car because I didn't want to deal with it anymore.i was so upset.i got power steering fluid all over my drive way twice.so no I do not recommend this auto shop.take it some where else.im surprised there still in business.every time I go out to my car I see the stain I have on my drive way.so mad... read more

I've been coming to Fair Oak Auto Care for years now, starting with just a simple oil change on my Mini. Today, I own three cars and still bring them all here. What really made me a loyal customer was when my Mini had a major issue that I couldn't figure out. Other mechanics and even the dealer quoted me anywhere between $3,000-$6,000 to fix it. Fair Oak Auto Care took care of it for less than $1,000--and my Mini has been running perfectly ever since. One thing I appreciate is their honesty. Sometimes you have to point out exactly what you want fixed, but once you do, they take care of it without hesitation and never try to upsell. The work is solid, the pricing is more than fair, and they genuinely stand behind what they do. Highly recommend them if you're looking for trustworthy and affordable auto care. read more

Friendly, quick and reasonably priced. Many of those things are getting harder to find these days. Called in the morning as soon as they opened and brought the car in without an appointment and they had it back to me just before the end of the work day. Honestly impressive as my car is older at this point and sometimes hard to find parts for. Normally I like to make appointments with mechanics because it's necessary for them to plan ahead, but my window regulator went out and I didn't want the car window to be stuck open any longer than it has to. I will now sleep better. read more

Very quick to answer phone, the line to get service was short. I had a minor engine light issue and they diagnosed and resolved it in only a few minutes. read more

Excellent shop. Honest reliable and knowledgeable. They had replaced my rack and pinion and honestly admitted that the problem was most likely caused by the debris in a power steering hose and not rack and pinion. I am totally OK because these kind of problems are hard to troubleshoot. The used rack and pinion they had put in has been working fine for over 5 years. read more

Thanks to Tam's team who were very professional and knew exactly how to help. My car failed a smog test at another shop simply because it had an aftermarket catalytic converter. The tester didn't bother to check whether it was CARB compliant, even after I showed him a picture of the OE number on it. I was referred to Fair Oaks Auto, so I went there and explained the situation to Tam (owner). Lui, from Tam's team, went under the car, took a clear picture of the converter, and checked its details on the CARB website. They reviewed the test results, confirmed everything was in order, and my car passed the smog test. Great service, very thorough, and truly professional! read more

I've visited this place a number of times, 2x this year for different reasons (flat tire, sensor light). How do I put this. While they may not focus on providing the best lip service, they speak volumes through their efficiency and business model. To me, that's true kindness and love for their customers. They don't take appointments, first come first serve and they provide one of the most affordable and generous rates in the valley. read more

It was time for a dealer inspection and I was looking for a shop that could do an oil/filter change and tire rotation at a auto repair shop. They were very professional and reasonably priced with a short wait time and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

My best auto repair shop experience - hands down. I have owned many kinds of cars (American, Japanese, German & Korean) and I have been to 20+ mechanics over 25 years. Honesty coupled with reasonable prices is rare trait in auto repair shop. Tam (owner) is straight shooter. I am repeat customer and would definitely recommend anyone I know to him. read more

My go-to spot for auto repair. I've taken my car here several times for repairs. Great service & very reasonable price. $48 total with "yelp" discount. In and out within 20 minutes, convenient and close to my house. I deducted 2 stars because the yelp check in says $29.95 for smog + cert. The guy tells me it's $58 total and I ask him about help and cash discount. He says I can have $10 off... I came here because of the low yelp discount, but this clearly wasn't honored. read more

Tam and his team helped me fix the weird sound under my car resulting from the sway bar links that was recently replaced by another shop. After a thorough check, they found out the cause of the issue and got it repaired pretty quickly without any charge. Really appreciated their skills, efficiency, integrity and caring about cars. Thank you very much! read more

My boyfriend came here for a much needed oil change. He was in and out in less than 30 mins on Wednesday around noon. I live right around the corner, so this place will be my oil change go-to out of convenience. This place is located at a gas station, and there is also a taco truck here! Great place to grab a quick lunch while you're at it. read more

Have visited this shop many times! I live near by, this shop is our go to shop since I moved here in 2018! Visited for Car service , Oil Change, glass repairs, AC repair, wheel change, windshield wiper, filter change etc. Always very satisfied and excellent service, I trust Them with my car! They responded very fast and get your car fixed quickly usually within a day and fair price :) I have already recommended many friends read more

Having left my smog check until the very last day like an idiot, I was so grateful to find this business!! Tam was able to do the check and even change my oil with no reservation on a Monday afternoon (I called in the morning and he said to come right in whenever). He gave me a reasonable quote (use the Yelp check in!) and even a nice cash discount, so I am more than happy with the overall ease and cost of the transaction. I would definitely consider coming back here for my other automotive needs. Thank you Tam! read more

Someone stole my catalytic converter. I drove it over to Fair Oaks Auto ... loudly. Tam runs a busy shop, but he is communicative and responsive. He gave me an update within the day on my options, and kept in touch over the next couple of days until the car was fixed and fitted with a shield as a future deterrent. The financial hit of buying a new catalytic converter was painful, but Fair Oaks is a smooth repair experience and they will work with you to fix your problems. read more

My new-to-me, shipped from out-of-state car failed smog at another test only shop by a permanent DTC (no check engine light). They impatiently told me to go to the dealership to get the fix. I found this test & repair shop so came here for help. Tech here were very friendly and helpful, they explained the reason to me and gave me the right advice: just take a few drive cycles and if nothing is wrong the code will disappear otherwise CEL would lit. I did that and passed smog. Even this place is farther than the other shop I usually go to, next time I will smog here. read more

I took an emergency appointment with them today when one of my car doors would not close securely and I had to hold it while driving. The owner asked to come when many other places turned me down. I would highly recommend this place. 5 stars for their professional service. read more

My family and I rely on this shop for our many needs with our vehicles. It's run by a family who we have grown to be very fond of. Not only did he provide excellent service, he noticed on my dash that the tire pressure icon was on, and, without asking, went ahead and filled the tires! He was clear, concise, courteous, kind, and professional. Good man. read more

I usually come here for my oil changes. My fiancée pointed me to this place, and I couldn't be more thankful. All the gentlemen that I've encountered are friendly and to the point. I ask for a oil change, and they deliver. No hidden agendas and fees. I believe they charge me around $40-50 for synthetic oil. They also do the typical basic checks...tires and such. I'd suggest going first thing in the am. I believe they open around 9-9:30AM, and I'm usually in and out within 20-30 mins. read more

tam, I have checked the facts. yes you should check with your dad. sorry but you are deceiving. I won't waste my time with people like you. I hope you learn something from your dad whom was and is a very honest man. I can no longer recommend your shop to my family and friends or anyone else. yes by the way I found a shop who does smog checks for less than $50 on older cars. Yes I am sure you will send all your customers there... that's the funniest thing I ever heard. Good bye. Wish you well. read more

I dropped in, got lucky with no one else there, and completed my smog check in 15-20 minutes. Pro-tip: check in on yelp for a $10 discount to get your smog inspection for only $29.75 (there is an additional $20 charge if your vehicle is older than a certain year because it needs additional tests) Also, it costs $8.25 for the smog certification, which brings you to a grand total of $38 for a sedan. Highly recommend especially as the Fair Oaks Smogs Check Test across the street had a 45 minute wait. read more

I always do my research on the internet when getting my car fixed because I am hesitant when going to a mechanic because they ALWAYS try to recommend more than what is needed. I never have a problem here. Sonny is always upfront and his prices are always reasonable. He'll answer any question will be honest enough with you and tell you if he can't get the best price for a certain part. This is the first place I go when I need something done and I always have the peace of mind. A trustworthy mechanic is hard to find.. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I was double-talked about my older vehicle and was turned away for reasons that had no reason to actually fail the outcome of a smog check. I have built and maintained all the vehicles I have owned since 1982 (21 in fact), so I do actually know when I am being lied to -it's either because of their laziness while Sonny is not around, or I'm just the wrong color or gender- Either way, I was told (in semi-broken English by a man who first spoke to me in perfect English) to go elsewhere .... not cool. :( thanks Sonny, for having my time wasted while you are away read more

Been going here since 2015, I have an old car 1998 Toyota so it's getting at the age where I get check engine lights pretty frequently (2-3 times a year). I live within walking distance of this place so every time the light turns on I just swing by this place! They do a quick read of the code and tell me how minor or severe the issue is (usually pretty minor). Sonny always takes the extra effort to show me what the manufacturer site says is needed then I just leave my car there and walk home. When he's done he gives me a call a few hours later to pick my car back up. He shows me the old parts in a box and the new parts in the car. Sonny runs an honest shop and provides great service overall! Of course I get my oil check done here (and fill up on gas while I'm here too!) , usually just 25 min wait. read more

Just came here to perform a transmission fluid flush on my Honda. After calling a few places they had the best price.
