THE best hardware store with the FRIENDLIEST employees you will find anywhere. Needed a specific size hex key for my bike. Stopped by while I was on my way to Hartshorne, and the guy helped me find exactly what I needed immediately. Even though there were some other customers in there bustling around, he was helping us all really efficiently. When it came time to pay, my single hex wrench didn't meet the minimum to pay with card, and I didn't have any cash on me. Before I could even say anything, the guy told me to just take it and get them back later. This wa shocking to me as this was the first time I'd ever been there and didn't even know the guy. It's not like we became best friends in the 2 mins I was there either; I was just some random guy. This is super cheesy, but I always think of that interaction as the epitome of small town hospitality. Also, they have a lot of single tools and stuff that places like Home Depot only sell in sets, so it's usually better to check here first. read more

You cannot, at any price, get better help and service than here. The experience of home maintenance doesn't get more personal than at FHH. They will spend 30 minutes getting you a 45 cent screw that fits your old door, or restore an old lamp, find the best cleaner, match any color paint, or order what you need for your garden vision. A town without a good hardware store is as useful as a car without wheels. Fair Haven is a great town because it has a great hardware store. Did I say great hardware store? I meant awesome hardware store. Nothing better than having a home problem, stopping by at Fair Haven hardware and have your problem solved in minutes. In 100's of trips I have yet to have to go to another hardware store to solve my problem. Home depots and Lowes cannot solve these problems, they are bigger but not better. If the whole world functioned like Fair Haven hardware we would all live in the land of milk and honey, run a government surplus, know that all our children be above average, have peace on earth and smiles on everybody's faces. read more

Typical small hardware store in a small town. What makes it standout is the knowledgeable and friendly help of guys like Murray. He has helped with many plumbing and electrical "challenges" over the years. He is the main reason I continue to return here over the years. He has a great deal of patience when helping customers needing assistance. Hopefully the young guys learn from him before he retires and is gone. read more

Excellent selection, friendly knowledgeable staff that is very helpful with ideas on do it yourself projects as well as advice on hardware items. We've bought everything from Weber grills to five cent o-ring washers there (they comped the washers:). Just today, I went in and the owner took me through the many options for replacing my garden hose sprayer nozzle. I also needed to replace a garden soaker aka hose "wand." That unit I researched thoroughly on the Web and purchased from Amazon. Although it was touted as a premium, long-lasting durable product, it failed after two summers of light duty. Fair Haven Hardware suggested I replace both the nozzle and wand with Dramm products. From the first second I attached them to my hose and used them, it was obvious that they were several cuts above the units they replaced in terms of utility, build quality and performance. Fair Haven Hardware also has a fantastic paint department. I like it because it carries Benjamin Moore paints, including their environmentally responsible brand, and because I get great Brasilian music tips from the resident paint specialist. In a nutshell, what I like about this place is that although it does the vast majority of its business with professional contractors, the staff is always super about helping a newbie like me tackle repair projects around the house and buy the right hardware for use in my home and yard. read more

This is an old fashion hardware store with good old fashion service. They have just about anything you can think of and you are in and out in five minutes! They even rewire lamps. Most of the large home improvement stores are like malls and it can take you a few hours to find something, if you are lucky enough to find someone to help you out. You must try this gem of a store.
