My Cousin Vinny
Erica O.

Amazing selection of craft beers. Lots of local breweries. I've been coming here for over 20 years and the food just keeps getting better! Service is outstanding and everyone is so friendly. This sandwich is an 8" My Cousin Vinny! Chicken cutlets, prosciutto, provolone, lettuce, roasted red peppers Mayo. 5 star winner.

Sandwiches are delicious with fresh ingredients and the portions are huge! French fries are crispy and not at all greasy. We travel an hour just to eat at Fair Deli. If you are anywhere near the Syracuse area, stop in, it is well worth the trip!

Hot Annie

Wow this sandwich was messy and worth every drop I got on my clothes. This was only half of the Hot Annie. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had. Loved the pepper relish and Italian dressing. Had the perfect kick to it. Meat and roll were really fresh. I appreciate that the roll was toasted just right. I feel like a lot of places overlook this. My order was ready right on time. They have a ton of rotating beer options if you're into that. I liked the atmosphere inside even though I took my order to go. Reminds me of my fav deli back in my college town.

Gotta Vodka Sauce over chicken cutlet
Andy C.

Went to a Taste of Syracuse and so happy I was able to hit their food truck. I have always wanted to try their Gotti sandwich. Chicken Cutlet on a sub bread covered in their Vodka Riggie Sauce. This dish was fantastic. Large and had to share. The service at their food truck was friendly and efficient. If available at the store, a must try. Wish I was closer, I would buy many more of their sandwiches. Also, the corned beef egg roll was crispy and also good.

Everything from the service to the food is always excellent here. The deli has some tables to sit there and eat if you want. They also have a food truck and go to many local events. Everything I have had at the store and the food truck has been delicious. They truly care about the product they are putting out and make you feel like part of the family when you are there.

The Vinny: cutlet, roasted red peppers, prosciutto

First time at this place. The inside is pretty cool. Great beer selection. Took my food to go but looks like a great spot to have a quick dine in lunch. Took the cooks recommendation and got the special, The Vinny. Bread is great, cutlet was great. Would definitely return here.

"Awesome Reuben" - $12.00
Cody P.

I have a collector's mentality when it comes to trying a lot of things, and Reubens are near the top of that list. Since we moved to Syracuse, we've been to a lot of places just to see where they stack. Since we moved here in 2020, the only time we ever really passed through this area was when we were lost on our way home off the thruway. (More times than I'll admit here.) But every couple months, Look - there it is again! A huge banner taking up an entire wall just to say "Awesome Reubens". That sign has been taunting us for years, but for a while, every time we saw it was either on a Monday or after we'd eaten. Finally we looked up the name of the place and made plans to go see for ourselves. We doubled down on the Reubens when we ordered. First was a standard issue "Awesome Reuben", paired with a "Sun Drop Reuben", because it had never occurred to us to put eggs on a Reuben. We labored over a bunch of other things, but ended up throwing in a breakfast pizza to complete the order. They were cool about everything, including all our deliberation over the phone, and put us on with the chef (I think?) to verify when they thought there might be a delay on the pizza. The breakfast pizza turned out to be my favorite. We did half bacon, half sausage. It was cut into strips, Syracuse style. The dough was firm but perfectly soft, almost buttery. Nothing stood out for the sauce, but it wasn't dry like many breakfast pizzas tend to be. Even left over days later, it held its amazing taste and texture. As far as the Reubens, they were about as good as any other well made Reuben, with nothing to set them apart. They don't skimp on the ingredients, and the meat was cooked but not overcooked. Aside from the non-marbled rye, they check all the boxes, but to the same extent as any other good sandwich place. The only difference is the big sign they put up singling it out. But hey, it got us to come out. The Sun Drop Reuben was about the same portion, but none of the sauce and maybe half the sauerkraut. I think the intention was that the yolks from the eggs would replace the moisture, but ours were cooked straight through, so no yolks or moisture. We're assuming the yolks were the link that would have made the eggs work with the Reuben in the first place, because the sandwich was just some undressed corn beef, a dash of kraut, and some dry eggs. In hindsight we wish we'd just tried another item off the menu instead. I should emphasize that their Awesome Reuben is plenty Awesome, and you won't regret ordering it if you're a fan of reubens. I think all in all the sign was the biggest letdown. It's what got us in the door in the first place, but it set the bar too high for a Reuben that would have otherwise delivered just fine.

The "Scrooge"
Jay D.

So we follow their page on Facebook, to catch any specials they have going on. We've been here many times before, and their deli sandwiches never disappoint. The "Scrooge" peaked our interest. A perfectly toasted and buttered Di Lauro's sub roll, loaded with fresh seared ribeye steak, roasted garlic potatoes, and sautéed onions. Horsey mayo on top. Side of au jus. Prolly one of the best damn sandwiches we've ever had here. Beef was tasty and juicy, and not overcooked. Even some pieces were medium rare. Potatoes were also tasty, cooked til just done. Horsey sauce was perfectly balanced, with enough to compliment the sandwich. We also ordered a side of Mac salad which was great as well. Special runs today and tomorrow. Check em out!!!

Fair Mart Deli counter

Tucked behind a Byrne Dairy on State Fair Blvd is a little, unassuming building containing a hidden gem in the town of Lakeland. I recently started a new job out in Lakeland and there's not too much close by to grab some lunch. I went out intending to grab a sandwich at Byrne Dairy, but then saw the Fair Deli Mart behind it, and figured I'd give it a try after passing by so many times. Walking in, it looks much like a normal little corner mart. Snacks, plenty of drink choices. Craft beers. In the back is the deli. I headed back and took a look at the menu. They have most usual sandwiches with some other interesting twists. I ordered a Zack Attack, a grilled sub with chicken tenders, ham and honey mustard. The, I'm assuming, owner was behind the deli and was extremely nice, offering me suggestions for stuff to try next time. The sub was delicious. So the next day, I went back again. I went for a pastrami sandwich this time which was awesome. Tons of meat, grilled onions, light rye. The owner also wrote his number on my carry out tray, asking me to give him my honest opinion on the sandwich. Extremely nice people. Food is cheap, fresh made, huge portions, and friendly employees. I'll be a regular here.

The Gobbler
Sean W.

I avoid this place normally, but when my wife saw the Syracuse Eats post for The Gobbler, a Thanksgiving sandwich featured now until the end of November, she had to have it. Now I get it, we are all looking forward to turkey day, but this creation DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE. To put it kindly this was undercooked thick slices of turkey on a roll with onion filled STOVE TOP stuffing spread all over it. There was 5 people working, no line, and upon arrival after waiting about 20 mins from when I made the call I still had to wait another 15 minutes for them to make the food. They had to make gravy while I waited, they forgot we wanted the cranberry on the side and the gravy was basically tan water with no flavor at all. Also when I called I was instructed it would be 20 mins because they were still letting the turkey cook... just say your sold out until all the ingredients are done. The kid who put the sandwich together was the slowest I've ever seen someone work in the food industry. All in all I knew when I showed up to this place the food was not good but tried again and now I have totally confirmed that for a fact. 37$ for 2 subs a bag of chips and a side of Mac n Cheese?! What is this world coming to? The pizza shop on Milton does a sheet pizza, 30 wings, a salad, and a 2 liter for cheaper then this. Overall very BAD. The picture is the part of the sub I didn't eat. Couple bites in, stomach turned, n that was that. It doesn't even smell like Thanksgiving it just smells like feet and food that doesn't smell good is insanely hard to eat.

Got Roast Beef/Lettuce/Provolone/ Thousand Island. Sandwiches are hard to mess up and impress when they are cold cut but the price for the size along with the roast beef being a good cut definetly make this a good sandwich and I can understand the enjoyment. Coupled with it I ordered a soup and while they didnt have the meatball medley the chicken noodle was warm and comforting and additionally they gave us a mac salad to make up for the meatball medley being ordered but not available. Love a good paprika on my mac salad and they did it well. Would go back and try something else!

We came around lunch time on Saturday August 30th 2025 - Upon walking in, I noticed the menu board was written in very small font and had no descriptions so it was kind of hard to figure out what we wanted. I asked the employee for the most popular choice and she recommend the Brooklyn special which had swiss cheese, pastrami, corned beef and prosciutto. This came on a rye bread, with a type of mayonnaise and we added lettuce, tomato and onions. We got only 3 pickles for the huge sandwich which really did not seem like enough. I appreciated how much meat there was but the overall sandwich was lacking in flavor. The "Russian dressing" tasted like regular mayo. I did not see a regular reuben sandwich option on the menu, perhaps this was something you needed to request - but it would have been better to have a toasted bread perhaps or just a different sauce. Portion was huge, pricing was fair, but the overall flavor was boring so that is disappointing.

They really enjoyed theirs. The beef on wreck was good. Horseradish had a real kick which I appreciated. The sandwiches came with "rough cut" chips which seemed to be made in house. Fine for what they were I suppose, I don't personally like homemade chips so I can't judge too hard. Came to nearly 60 bucks for two sandwiches and an app. Expensive for what it was. I ordered the Beef of Weck and Potato Salad given past reviews seemed to deem these two items as menu staples. The potato salad was fine, in need of a big pinch of salt. The Beef on Weck was a hardy, and a big portion for a sandwich, the extra horseradish wasn't necessary unless you're really a fan. However, the sandwich should be eaten with the au jus, otherwise it borders on flavorless. I did find the bun overly salty. Filling but not fufillying. Additional note... When I went to pickup the staff member wanted me to sign off on a receipt of the full amount without the discount. When I stated I paid online, he responded it had to do with the fact DoorDash doesn't allow for a tip. When I asked for a new bill representative of what I paid, the manager came and said they ask for the signature to confirm it was picked up... Then I said, I can indicate that here on the app, and he agreed and let me go with my food. Overall the interaction made me uncomfortable as I've never experienced a similar situation with pickup. Perhaps just me, but something I feel someone should be made aware of if they're ordering to-go.

Jersey Mike's Subs

I buy the same sub - the club sub - from the same Jersey Mike's on West Genesee in Camillus,…read morerepeatedly. Turkey, ham, provolone, bacon. Tonight they got it really wrong. Fortunately, it doesn't happen often at Jersey Mike's - however that's not what this review is about. This review is about the person who took my call. After they looked up my order, I told them what was missing from my sub, which was shocking as it was missing mostly everything except an everything. There was no lettuce except for a few stray shreds. It had no onion when I asked for extra onion. It had no pickles on my sandwich which I also ordered. And it had NO BACON which is part of the sub. One side of the sandwich had half a piece of ham and the other had a slice of turkey and no cheese. Basically half the sandwich was empty and the other half was missing most items. But a bad sandwich is not a tragedy. I called and attempted to tell the employee on the phone what was missing from my sandwich and she kept talking over me. I couldn't understand what she was saying because there was a lot of background noise - so I started repeating what was missing again and she told me loudly "I don't need to hear all of that!" - which was really rude - and then she said "we have 15 people working today because of our month of giving and I have no idea who made your sandwich. (I didn't ask who made my sub) I'll give you a refund" which was fine - until I heard her say to someone else: "this woman is yelling at me." At first I thought she can't be referring to me because I had not raised my voice. I had not yelled. As a matter of fact, I was very understanding that with all the extra people working for their charity promotion, it is easy to make a mistake. I can imagine what happened: somebody started making a sandwich - got distracted, and somebody else just wrapped it up and put it with our order. But what I overheard her say disturbed me, so I asked her: "did you just say I was yelling at you?" She replied "No- no. I said you were just 'asking' me." That's not what I heard, though. I heard her distinctly say I was yelling at her. Her conduct really left a bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. I think it's a great thing that Jersey Mike's has an entire month in March donating to charity, but don't take out your chaos on your customers. Being rude to customers is not the way to keep them. This particular Jersey Mike's location should use a new slogan: Jersey Mike's - Good sandwiches. Bad attitude. The fact is, for the first time I just noticed that their health score is extremely concerning. I know on a math test 96 out of 100 is great but if you click on the Health score and you see why four points were deducted - you might not want to eat there. Doubt I will.

You have to watch them carefully so not to end up with a sandwich soaked in oil and vinegar. They pile on a lot of lettuce to make the sub look larger then what it really is. Order a sub with no veggies and see how little meat there is placed on the sandwich. It's just a fancy subway, that's expensive and not a 'goto' for subs. The menu would get old fast.

The space itself was small, with a few tables, drink coolers, baked goods, and smoothie options. After placing our order, we waited...and waited. After exactly 40 minutes, I finally asked about the status, especially after watching another couple come in after us, order, and leave with their food before we received ours. I understand that takeout and delivery orders are part of the business, but in-house customers should not be completely overlooked. There was no communication, no sense of urgency, and no effort to acknowledge the delay. It genuinely felt like we didn't matter as customers. And for what? Two sandwiches--a roast beef and a turkey. Having worked in restaurants myself, I can confidently say that should not take 40 minutes under normal circumstances.
