I am starting to develop the idea that the restaurants come in two types: 1. The kind you go to because they do something remarkable or unique. Maybe they have fantastic cocktails, unbelievably scrumptious chicken Parm, or something you cannot (or will not) make at home, like Ramen, for instance. 2. Places that both don't make something remarkable, and don't make something you cannot cook yourself. These places exist for when meeting up with a friend or two, or one the only thing you have left in your fridge is ketchup and sour cream. This morning, I found myself having a completely empty fridge. No eggs, no meat, and no cheese. I had a little bit of veggies, but none of them suitable for breakfast. Thus, I decided it's time to pay Fael's a visit, My first time after living in Quincy for four years! As I suspected, Fael's has pretty standard breakfast fare at reasonable prices. I ordered the Fael's Omelette, which comes with home fries. The home fries were fresh and crisp! Too many places have soggy, steamed potatoes, not the case here! As for the omelette, it was well balanced in amounts of ingredients, and cooked nicely. Finally, the service was friendly and prompt. The vibe is homey, like a family-run breakfast and lunch place (not diner-y). Thus, a solid choice for breakfast if looking at an empty fridge, or if meeting a friend or three.

Looking for an open.place to eat breakfast or lunch after arriving at Boston Airport driving to cape cod. Landed here basically because it was open. Slow morning, several diners and empty tables. Service is slow. One waitress one cook from what we could tell. Basically took about half hour from time seated to being served. The clam chowder was good. The Caesar salad was disappointing, basically romaine lettuce, some grated parmesan cheese, a couple croutons and oil and vinegar dressing. The fish and chips was a nice size. Nice taste. Incorrect bill presented to us, which we had her correct.

I love this place! ample parking, a friendly greeting with a smile upon arrival, then seated at a table in a clean and spacious dining area. Tables are spaced appropriately from one another. Ample choices on the menu to satiate my breakfast hunger. The server took the order right away, The breakfast arrived in no time and all the food was fresh, hot & delicious with ample sized servings at fabulous pricing. They never disappoint. Save yourself the trouble of trying out anywhere else when you know this place is going to confirm that you made the right decision coming here.

I ordered breakfast to go, ham steak, over easy eggs, marble toast. When I arrived to puck up she told me they would make quickly on demand so that it was fresh. Food was tasty, well packed. I will go there again.

Things that Granite Street Cafe had going for it which won them our visit:…read more 1) They were open early. 7am - 2pm, every day. We wanted to be somewhere by 8am, so that worked for us. 2) They have a parking lot, just past the intersection, after the building on Water Street. Okay, this was more of a bonus for us, at least initially, but when I got there and saw the streets around them, I even more appreciated it. There's also an entry from the parking lot, but it isn't particularly clearly marked. I read about it on someone else's review, and got there first, so I had time to meander. But is the metal staircase closest to the sidewalk. There was a single waitress, which meant service wasn't the quickest. But she was nice and knew her regular by name. The booths had clear plastic (or glass... I didn't touch them to verify) dividers - perhaps due to the pandemic and social distancing, perhaps not, but I liked them and they seemed a part of the original booths, rather then an after thought. We split a sweet and a savory - double strawberry pancakes (3 pancakes with both berries cooked in, and strawberry compote, whipped cream on the side) $12.50, and Granite Street Benedict (with corned beef hash) $14.50. The sweet was surprisingly not too sweet, while the savory was a bit too salty. We weren't hurried along or anything. And they take both cash or credit.

Milkweed manages to stand out in a crowded scene by focusing on what matters most: incredibly fresh and flavorful food. The menu spans breakfast, brunch, and lunch with a level of seasoning that hits the mark every time. These are my favorites so far: -The Sweet Dutch Baby: A crowd-pleaser that manages to be both airy and indulgent. - Corned Beef Hash: Super fresh and flavorful. You get an entire roasted roma tomato. - Cheesy Spinach Omelette: Simple, fresh, and very cheesy. - The iced coffees and teas are well-crafted as well. - For those looking for a lighter start, they offer great "healthier" alternatives like smoothies and loaded fruit and yogurt bowls, making it an easy choice for groups with different dietary preferences. The Experience The atmosphere is very homey. Staff are friendly. Place is clean and doesn't have that diner stickiness. The service can be a bit of a rollercoaster. There are moments when it feels like you've faded into the background or been forgotten entirely. But the food is worth the wait. If you're looking for a quick "in-and-out" meal, this might not be the place. But if you value high-quality, delicious brunch offerings and don't mind a slower pace, Milkweed is a local gem that delivers where it counts.

What we ordered: - Strawberry Nutella French Toast: 3/5, this was a lot better the first time I had it. This time it was super dry and the strawberries were very bruised and mushy - Savory Dutch pancake: 5/5, such an interesting dish, very filling, generous portions of eggs/burrata/prosciutto - Mushroom Florentine omelet: 5/5, my mom absolutely loved it. Said they were generous with the toppings cooked in. - Tater tot casserole: 3/5, guest said it was average but wish there was more egg in it - Corn beef hash: 4.5/5, guest said it was real, high quality corn beef hash (versus from a can). Took 1/2 point off because the eggs weren't cooked perfectly. We liked the vibes of this place and the creative dishes, will definitely be back to try new things.
