Every single person from check-in to my procedure, through recovery and checkout was absolutely wonderful! I was of course really nervous coming here because I had to have a procedure I'd never had before, but everybody made me feel very welcome and comfortable. They were able to get me in with less than a week wait time so I booked an appointment and showed up 15 minutes early (my bad) only to wait for nearly two hours for my appointment. When I showed up for my morning appointment (10:30am) there were only two people in front of me. 30 minute wait time is long but understandable. Dr. Brown and his staff were courteous, friendly and professional; his medical knowledge and surgical ability are both excellent. Dr. Brown performed a sinus augmentation with a titanium implant, where a new crown will be attached later. Just as important, the surgical recovery was better than expected, with very little swelling, and any pain controlled only by ibuprofen. read more

Bad bad service. Confirmed insurance and scheduled my appointment only to show up and be told that they didn't have me listed as an appointment! Then they said they cancelled on me when I didn't answer one of their voicemails, but I was never told to except further calls and I also told them a while back that it was best to reach me on another phone. Receptionist was rude the whole time and led into the conversation by complaining, which is not appropriate to do to someone who is about to go into surgery and has other things to worry about. I can't speak for the skill of the doctor because I will not be going there for my procedure. read more

I went to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed. It was my first ever facial surgery so I was beyond nervous. But with each new encounter within the office a bit of that nervousness wilted away. The receptionist was very friendly and thorough. The nurses explained everything very well and answered all of my many questions. The doctor came in to begin the process, he asked a few questions, administered the anesthesia and the next thing I remember is waking up. My recovery was speedy with absolutely no pain. My experience was so good my husband went and had his wisdom teeth removed as well and his experience was just as great. I would recommend this place over and over. read more

I took my daughter and son both to FSG for wisdom teeth removal. Both experiences went extremely well. After we arrived for my son, we talked with the doctor about doings some grafting in preparation for implants. That was added to the procedures on that same day. The business office worked kindly and professionally with us, even when we discovered our insurance did not, in fact, cover their office. I will update this in the next couple of days. Tomorrow I am having my wisdom teeth removed. And I must say as of now this group has been a huge pain in my a**. They have already called me 3 times asking if I could move my appointment time because several people have canceled. I told the lady I might be able to do something but I wasn't sure because I have to work out arrangements with the babysitter and my other half etc.. and these were the exact words she said to me. "Well I can't have my staff standing around for two hours picking their noses waiting for your appointment". Really, if I wasn't in pain I would have already canceled. I am seeing Dr. Kall . Let's hope he has a better attitude than these brod's working the front desk. UPDATE.... All I can say about this place is WOW what a bunch of idiots. These people really need to get their poop in a group. After all the phone calls asking me if I could switch my appointment to an earlier time "so the staff isn't sitting around picking their noses"I ended up waiting an hour before I was even seen. When I got there the lady at the front desk told me it would be awhile and I looked at her and said, " are you kidding me'??? I was pretty peeved. Confession - I've started stalking Rachel H. After I read that she got her wisdom teeth out, I had to get mine out! She's super elite and I've got to be just like her. This means visiting the same doctor as her. (Plus this is where my dentist gave me my referral.) Like Rachel said, Dr. Tanner has a great demeanor and makes you feel comfortable. The office in general is very quick and professional. Unlike Rachel, I did go under. What can I say? I'm a big chicken. Plus, I was getting all four out. I didn't really know this till I got there and they told me. Till that point, I thought it was just two. So I was all for being put under. The doc ended up putting the catheter into my arm. I am lying there for a few minutes and next thing I know, they are pulling at my teeth. WTF? But then they finished up in two minutes. Boy, that was fast! Turns out, I was as knocked out as any of Mike Tyson's women for a good half hour, when they did all the work. I ended up walking away numb, which they tell you will hold for the next day or so. That's good. I don't like pain. The numbness did go away the next day and I wasn't in pain, despite the removal. Just uncomfortableness. Which in my book is a-ok for having four teeth removed. Oh, I also look like someone punched me on both sides of the face, which they said is unusual and I must have sensitive skin. (I do.) This has allowed me to walk through dangerous areas and scare people so they don't approach me and also caused random supermarket cashiers to offer to call women abuse centers on my behalf. True story. Also, I did have the same problem as Rachel, the dry socket, and treatment was fast. And I didn't get the woman who cut me up. Hooray! read more

I went to Dr. Kall upon the recommendation of my own dentist for a tooth extraction. Let me start out by saying that Dr. Kall was incredibly good...he took the time to do the job right, fully explained what he was doing, and followed up a couple days later to make sure I was doing OK. He is not the subject of my review, even though he would be one of the guys to do your work. Now...on with the bitterness. Their office staff, like everyone else has said here, was absolutely AWFUL. They are unresponsive, abrupt, and just downright rude. The girl who checked me out was the WORST - like she had a horrible day and kicked the dog before I got there. She barely spoke to me, wouldn't even say hello or thanks, or anything...and I don't expect much out of someone who just collects money and tells people how to exit, but COME ON!! My biggest complaint was how they handled the financial end of my transaction. Upon leaving the office - with a mouth full of gauze - she demanded the "estimated" portion of my insurance. I forked over my credit card, then found out later that their estimate was way too high - I didn't owe that much at all. Then the fun began. Trying to extract a REFUND of the overpayment from these jokers was an exercise in frustration. Email through their web site to anyone you can hopefully reach, and a week later, they answer...sort of. JoAnne who apparently has no last name but operates the "accounts" email address managed to delay my overpayment refund for about a MONTH because they want to wait until the insurance pays, then tack on 7-10 "working days" for a "check to be issued." Why couldn't they have just refunded the CARD I paid with? That would have avoided all kinds of unhappiness, a lengthy wait, the cost of a paper check, the cost of postage...everything. Maybe it's just so the business office people have something to do? I was astounded at how quickly they could COLLECT my "estimated" portion but then took an inversely ridiculous time to decide to refund me. I think it's a poor practice, and if I were to ever be asked by another office to pay this estimate up-front, I would politely decline because I don't want to be lost in their accounting procedures. Although the nasty back-door desk lady probably would have locked the deadbolt if I had told her I wasn't ready to pay until I knew the exact amount, just before she pulled out her axe and came after me, I'm kicking myself for not doing that. I am definitely recommending to my awesome referring dentist that he might want to find someone other than Facial Surgery Group to which he can refer patients. I agree with the others: the doctor(s) in this case are great - in my case I only have experience with Dr. Kall - but the way they run their practice is absolutely dreadful and turns patients completely off. I wonder if they just figure they're likely to be a one-shot deal - "we'll extract your teeth and never have to see you again" - so they engage in these horrific business practices. Next time, I'm going elsewhere, and I'm going to run the other way if the back-door office lady treats me the way theirs did. read more

Dr. Tanner is an amazing dentist. My teeth were cracking after strong radiation. I had to have 5 extracted including 4 wisdom teeth. He and the staff were very professional and caring. I feel great just a day or two after the surgery. Dr. Tanner also called me later that evening of the surgery to check in on me and to make sure I understood the after care instructions. When I initially called and set up my appointment, it was quick and easy and the receptionist answered all my questions. Fast forward to 3 weeks later (about a month before my scheduled appointment) and they tell me that Dr. Tanner is no longer in my insurance network and I need to schedule with someone else or pay 2-3k out of pocket until my insurance comes through. Yes, no thank you... defeats the purpose of insurance. I call back to reschedule with the other doctor and I guess I got a hold of the receptionist who must be very unhappy to work here. I told her I needed a Friday morning appointment in which she tells me she only has 2 appointments before the end of January, neither of which are Friday morning. Except she didn't phrase it that way.. "I have a Thursday at 1:30 or this Tuesday at 11." me - "wait so you don't have any morning appointments?" "NO". and yes she said it just like that. wowza okay, well after that I just told her to cancel my appointment, there are plenty of oral surgeons in the area.. I'll get the appointment time I want and with someone who is much nicer to deal with.. read more

Let me just say, my oral surgeons work was ok. IT was not the problem. My problem was that from the get-go, the staff seemed obsessed with getting my money. Like, some lady from the office called me just before the surgery to tell me my insurance would only cover like 40% of the surgery, which I knew, and was ok with. Then she informed me that I needed to pay for the remainder on the day, which seemed strange. I was scheduled to get my wisdom teeth extracted, and I had no less than 3 separate people try to get me to go under general anesthesia, to which I denied each one. I didn't want to pay for it too, and honestly, I knew my pain threshold much better than they did. When I told Dr. Tanner that I refused to get general Anesthesia, he told me I was in for a world of pain. I am a massage therapist, and I happen to know this is NOT something you say before a procedure. You do NOT tell the patient/client they WILL feel pain. It made me very nervous. Luckily, I did NOT feel pain, and the local anesthesia worked as well as it should. Right afterwards, the oral surgeon disappeared completely, and I never had the chance to speak with him again. I was promptly rushed to the payment desk, and they didn't even give me an irrigating syringe or anything, just a prescription to antibiotics and opiates to kill the pain, (which made me sick btw). 2 weeks went by, 3 weeks went by, a month, and the only only call I got was the same lady I got before telling me I needed to pay up, only this time she was telling me my insurance wanted to know if I had medical insurance. My regular dentist frequently sends me hand written get well cards and such after a major procedure. These people only want money, and don't give a shit what happens to you. They may get the job done, and your insurance might be accepted by them, but they don't care. read more

I brought my son to this practice to have oral surgery. We were to be checked in at 07:00. We arrived at 06:50. The front door was locked. The receptionist was visible through the window and made very brief eye contact but did not get out of her chair to unlock the door. Another patient arrived who was contacted that she was late for her 06:30 checkin. The door was still locked. This patient called the office to let the staff know that she (and my son) were waiting outside the locked door. A harried staff member arrived to unlock the door and then proceeded to tell both patients that they needed to hurry up because the doctor was ready to do surgery. Seriously? Unlock the door! Maybe apologize for the lack of responsiveness of the first receptionist? So far, not impressed. Hopefully the surgery will go better than the checkin. read more

Such a great experience ! All the staff were so so sweet and attentive. The doctor was awesome and it was so speedy ! I did choose to be fully anesthetized for my wisdom tooth extraction because while I have zero fear of needles, surgeries, hospitals etc... this tooth extraction was freaking me out, and it was such a piece of cake. Beware of out of pocket costs. This practice chooses to charge full list price vs contracted insured rates. Very greedy and dishonest! Staff will not bother to call you when you expect a refund! They lost my business and won't be back for the second half of my care. Manager was never dignified enough to even call a dissatisfied customer. A little customer service goes a long way! Terrible experience with the staff. I DO NOT recommend this place. The secretary/admin/exec assistant was incredibly rude and obnoxious. I brought my 4 year old in to have an infected tooth extracted and the admin wanted me to wait a month for an appointment, because they were too busy. Additionally despite having an appointment, I still had to wait an hour and half before seeing the doctor for a consult. Finally they recommended doing an intravenous needle anesthesia and laughing gas on my 4 year old to simply extract a baby tooth. Three days ago Facial Surgery Group removed my wisdom teeth. I've never been put under before and I must admit I was nervous. My insurance has changed and this was one of the places it accepted. So, as soon as I walked in the office lady ignored me, she was there when I walked in and then she vanished for a couple minutes until asking "can I help you"? Um, yes I'm the only one here I must be the 9:30 appointment for wisdom teeth removal. Anyway, the nurse took me back in a room and made me feel uncomfortable at the fact that I was nervous for the procedure. I felt like my nerves were disregarded and stupid. Every question I asked her was followed by a rushed explaination. I was confused. I thought they were supposed to make you feel more comfortable at these things. After the awkwardness, I finally got to meet Dr Tanner. My first impression told me he was a nice person who could be trusted more than his staff-which was refreshing. But, he was in a rush as well. He shook my hand and said if I didn't have any questions let's go on with it. I felt like I wanted to cry because I felt like I was putting these people under stress by being there. I felt like they didn't want me there. Their attitudes and emotions were that of someone who just got back from a funeral. So before I knew it, four people were in this room talking to each other, putting the needle in my arm, blood pressure cuff, oxygen on my face, all while not saying a word to me. Nothing. Just "take deep breaths". It was very weird. When I woke up, I was walked to the recovery room by the nurse and told to ly down. I didn't even see or talk to Dr Tanner after that. Nobody told me it went good or bad. They simply didn't say anything. It was as if nothing happened. I felt strange like I was in a crazy person hospital or something. Then the office lady came in the recovery room wanting me to pay for the procedure. They couldn't wait to get me out of there. Very very strange place. My mother came with me and she agreed. But, three days later I'm having intense pain that is described as the pain that comes with dry sockets. I just called the place and told them I may have dry sockets and wanted for the doctor to take a look and I was quizzed on the post-op instructions before they would tell me anything. I couldn't believe how unprofessional these people were. I'm nervous for my health now. I regret letting them perform this procedure on me. I feel that they are a shady business that puts patients last. When it comes to my mouth and health, it really scares me to know I went to a place where they treat their patients like dogs. read more

So you know that nightmare where you are having oral surgery and realize the Novocain isn't working. Well I lived it a few days ago at the uncaring and incompetent hands of Dr Kall and the Facial Surgery Group in Kansas City MO. Here's what occurred. They were"squeezing me in" ..not exactly what a surgery patient wants to hear. I told the "doc" that it takes a lot of Novocain to numb me. Takes around 3 or 4 shots for it to work and cover the margins. He payed no attention and only injected me once.. Then instead of testing or even asking me if I thought it had kicked in yet,he started even when I said I AM NOT NUMB!! IAM NOT NUMB!!!! I AM NOT NUMB!!! He payed no attention, didn't even respond. When his drill hit my tooth I felt the most excruciating pain I'd ever had...even worse than childbirth! And even worse,I got no apology or a even a modicum of compassion while I was crying my eyes out. Now anyone (except a sociopath)would have called the next day to check on my well being and apologize for the pain they inflicted. Well that didn't happen! This is the first time I have ever written a review but felt it my duty to warn others about this modern day Sweeney Todd. Despicable. I just had three wisdom teeth (one impacted) removed at the Plaza location. Excellent service. He worked quick, was gentle, and they had me out of there in no time. They even completed a full panoramic X-ray at no charge to me because my primary dentist didn't send his copy to them with the referral. I attended the Plaza location based on the recommendation of my dentist to have my wisdom teeth extracted. My appointment was scheduled for 11:30 AM. I was told to complete the paperwork online prior to my visit to avoid completing it while I was there. I completed the information one day prior and when I got to the office, they were unable to print my online forms and I had to complete everything all over again (it was a lot of paperwork). My 11:30 AM appointment turned into me getting to the chair at 1:00 PM. For all the hassles with the paperwork and appointment time, Dr. Kasey extracting my wisdom teeth was AWESOME! I was under general anesthesia and didn't feel anything during the procedure. I would DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Kasey Call! read more

I called and made an appointment. I had made TWO different appointments. When I called and talked to someone they told me I had an appointment scheduled for 10:30. I had already called and scheduled an appointment for 11:30. So I cancelled my 10:30. A few days before my appointment I received a call confirming my appointment. I show up to my appointment today and it's cancelled. I called to talk to someone and the lady talks to me like I'm stupid and says I'm not making any sense, before even letting me finish my story. She cut me off and said that she could either schedule a new appointment or I could talk to someone else. The lady at the counter and the lady that I talked to on the phone both would not listen to me and now I'm going even longer with this pain in my tooth. I left a really important day at school early so that I can make it to my appointment and now I'm expected to leave another day. Thanks for nothing. read more

This was my first ever surgery and it couldn't have gone any better! I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted on a Friday morning. 3 out of the 4 teeth were impacted so it took Dr. Tanner a little bit longer than usual. My appointment was scheduled for 11:30 and I showed up at 11:15 and got right in. The nurse took me to sign the paper work and check my vitals then onto XRays. This all took probably 15-20 Min then they put me in the surgical chair. Not more than 5 Min after I sat down Dr. Tanner came in and explained to me what was going to happen. After the explanation, he asked my father to exit the room and the 3 nurses came in and put me under. RECOVERY: This was my first time under anesthesia so I was a little anxious of how I would act afterwards but I was fine. The biggest excitement was when my dad left me at home to get my meds and my mother found me in the backyard walking around looking for my dog! As I mentioned before, I had my surgery on that Friday morning and left on Monday on a business trip. I recommend having your surgery on a Wednesday/Thursday and going back to work on a Monday. 2 1/2 days just wasn't enough time to recover. The swelling finally went down about 6-8 days later. Last thing, AVOID DRY SOCKETS. Follow the procedures and get plenty of mashed potatoes, yogurt and ice cream. Soft foods is highly recommend and sleep on an incline for the first few nights. All in all Dr.Tanner is simply the best. I highly recommend him for any facial or oral surgery needs. PS- A lot of people seem to have issues with the nursing staff... I didn't have a single issue with any of them. I actually thought they were quite pleasant to work with. read more

I can't believe they are still in business. I had an appointment for a consultation and got quickly into a room. I didn't wait long before some assistant came in to ask me a thousand questions about my history (which she clearly did not understand) and put in the CD I had brought of my MRI. she asked me some ridiculous questions while she looked at the images for about 5 minutes before she told me she doesn't know how to read an MRI. Yes, that was quite obvious. Then, she said Dr. Tanner would be right with me. After 30 minutes, I opened the door to ask where a restroom was. The staff was extremely rude but pointed the way to the restroom. As I returned, I asked how much longer it would be. I was told he would be right with me. 25 minutes later, I took my CD, walked out and said I was leaving and that they really should check in on their patients to let them know how late they were running. One of the staff members literally rolled her eyes at me and asked if I would like to reschedule. No apology for running so late; not even an attempt at being polite. I should add that I had been to this office before a few years ago to remove a wisdom tooth. Dr. Tanner seemed fine, but I remember how late they were that time and how rude the staff was then as well. read more

Dr. Tanner removed all 4 of my wisdom teeth 5 months ago under general anesthesia. It was a difficult surgery and I called up his office twice in the 3 days to ask one of the nurses to read my surgical record to me so I could find out what had happened during the surgery, since dr. Tanner had told me almost nothing. They wouldn't read the whole thing. 4 days later I was back to have 2 dry sockets treated and saw dr. Tanner reading my file as he walked in to treat them. He said nothing. The next day a crown popped off the molar next to one of the sockets. Turns out It had come off during surgery and dr. Tanner just stuck it back on and decided he did not need to tell me, even though it was certain to come off again very quickly. A few weeks later my dentist requested my surgical records and Dr. Tanner would not send them! I had to call them and demand my records! VERY DISHONEST and wish I'd never gone to him. ( I found out the crown had popped off during the surgery when I finally got my records. It was written clearly near the top of the page...) I'll NEVER NEVER use him again. . read more

I echo the feelings of others who state that the staff of this practice is not up to the level of the doctors. Not particularly friendly, efficient, or accomodating. Dr. Tanner and Dr. Kall seemed absolutely first rate and were highly recommended by peers in the dental field. Many practices dont realize how their staff can make a poor impression on the patient. read more

I went in to see Dr. Tanner last week for wisdom teeth removal. He was very nice and made me feel comfortable, I also appreciated the follow up phone call the following day to see how I was feeling and if I had any problems. The receptionist was a bit peeved that I showed up late due to horrible weather (not my fault!) but they still fit me in for my appointment. That would have been a huge hassle to reschedule! Agree with the other reviews that the staff is very quick but efficient, I stayed in recovery for quite a bit until I felt ready to get up and walk. Staff was professional, the nurse was thorough in her explanation on care after surgery and made sure I fully understood them. The surgeon called me with the follow-up info from the pathology report. Don't bother!! This practice is about the efficiency of making MONEY. The staff are rude and only concerned with moving you along... I was still in recovery when they pushed a pen in my hand to sign the credit card receipt... then they moved out. The doc may be OK but it sure doesn't show... I have to say this place is great! I had on tooth removed under iv sedation and never felt a thing, fell right to sleep woke up all done! They didn't mind my husband picking me up with toddlers in tow either! The Doctor is as nice and professional as could be.
