I love dancing and as a queer women of color, I expected more from Faces since they are a self-proclaimed gay club that prioritizes "inclusivity, safety, respect, and empowerment." Unfortunately, this has not been my experience. There are 1-2 bartenders (shout out Bobby) and security guards that I trust there to NOT be c r e e p s and genuinely friendly, but a good majority are not friendly and are r acists and p erverts. It says so on their website, that Faces is "undeniably inclusive and welcoming" with a "friendly staff" for "a sense of belonging." These promises from Faces are not seriously implemented. I enjoy their Tuesday Latin Nights and 3 of my favorite DJs play regularly there Friday/Saturday. I don't drink, but I usually spend $20-40 on entrance fee plus $20-40 for water because I dance so much I need a lot of water. As a beautiful women of color who loves to express herself through dance, I have had to deal with a bunch of H ORRIBLE and D ANGEROUS C REEP S for most of my life. I keep aware of my surroundings- my head is always in a swivel; I reject guys as soon as they breathe in my direction; I move away from p redatory creepy stares and nonconsensual touches; I maddog creeps who feel entitled to make me feel unsafe by standing too fucking near me or non-stop staring. So I hate that even though Faces (on their website) claims to hire employees with "hospitality" and "strong communication and interpersonal skills," that I've had such horrible experiences with at least 2-3 secuirty guards if not more. Aren't security guards meant to ensure the safety of the guests? Why are they the ones being c reeps? I get that they have to move around and look at the guests for suspicious activity, but this c reep moved to where I move, and their eyes are non-stop staring at me and not moving their head around constantly to look around. And at first, I tried to just move from his eyesight when a good song that come on where i want to just go off dancing freely, he moves himself where can go c reep on me, so I move again and there he goes moving again to where he can see me, fine so I move behind him and he turns his back to the crowd just to stare at me in the corner I went to. I am not stupid, I have experience with the dis gusting pre dators with their per verted nonstop staring. If you don't know this feeling, you are privileged and that does not mean it is okay that its happening to me. So yes I finally snapped and without having NO alcohol in me, I flipped the pe rvert security guard off during a reggaeton song with the spanish lyrics saying "no dum bass better get near her when shes dancing" and he came to kick me out because I hurt his tiny ego with my finger even though he's the one being a cre ep. I told him I did it because he was being a creep staring at me and he didn't care. A female security came to "help kick me out." Faces should feel shame and should fire the cree ps they are employing and actually hire people who are sane people who aren't perverts. read more

This is a huge club that used to be a great gay night club... Door Staff great and friendly, and Security Rude, unprofessional, stupid, and agressive. (with exception to the one mexican guy) Dont get too drunk or get into a fight, becasue you will be taken out via hands on by security. They are all apparently straight, and dont like gay people, which if they dont like gay people they should not be working there. There security comapny Reagle Security, is terrible. As far as the crowd... It is NOT a gay dancer club, it is where alot of Straight Middle Eastern Guys go to pick up chicks... it is a meat market. Attention women of all orientations! For some annoying reason, slimy straight guys have decided Faces is where they should congregate to molest women. Yes. Molest. My friends and I just want to dance so we figured a gay club would be the best place to avoid creepers. But holy hell. There were more creepers there on a Saturday night than gay men! The second we got on the dance floor, the SECOND, these creepy guys came up behind us and started grinding on us. We left the dance floor and went to another room and guess what? They FOLLOWED us there. It was like trying to swat mosquitoes. They wouldn't leave us alone even when we verbally told them to. I used to love Faces when it was filled with gay men, (gay or straight or bi) women and gorgeous queens. The different rooms with different music were really cool. It was so much fun to dance without getting molested by anyone (my friend had guys put their hands up her shirt... So freaking NOT cool). I don't know how Faces could solve this problem but as of now, if I feel like dancing, I'd rather dance in my living room. As for the stars, I'm reviewing strictly on Faces, because it's unfair to judge them on their clientele. I wanted to give it 3 stars for the variety of music and really friendly go go boy dancers. But had to deduct one star for the inconsistent types of music playing in the rooms (it went from lady gaga to gangsta rap) and the cover charge is ridiculously expensive. I've paid $5 or nothing at all for clubs in the Castro. If gay men can let us know a super secret night when there aren't any creepy straight men, it will be much appreciated! Great music and entertainment. Security however needs a lot of improvement. I was asked to leave while outside arguing with security asking why they removed my friend, they said he was too drunk. He had three beers over the course of over 3 hours. I said he only had 3 beers and clearly wasn't that drunk in which they told me I could not go back in.I said ok I just needed to retrieve my jacket and purse inside. I also came with a friend and she was still inside. Security refused to escort me inside to allow me to find my friend and my belongings so that I could leave as requested. They left me outside in the rain basically abandoned. My car and house keys and everything including my jacket was inside. for a good while I was sitting outside in the pouring rain begging to please help me retrieve my stuff. I get why they asked me to leave and that's not the problem. The problem was the refusal to help me. They also roughed me up a bit when I panicked and tried to go back in to get my stuff. Three people for one person is excessive , I was not resisting, I was not being violent. I have scratches on my arm, badly bruised elbow and a slightly swollen hand. I think like three tackled me. Do not come here! Oh and after they tackled me they realized my friend wasn't as drunk as they thought and allowed him to go back in to find our friend and my stuff. Why wouldn't they just do that to begin with?! Or at least escort me in. They wanted me to come back the next day, I wasn't about to risk my stuff getting stolen when all they had to do was escort me inside. A dancer named Wesley/Jaykob Kempf assaulted me multiple times. Grabbed my neck and forcibly kissed me. Filed the police reports and all that. Then I go into Faces and he is right at the entrance with an evil ass demeanor "What are you doing here?". Anyways an hour or so later he drops a used condom right in front of me off the stage. Then he tells security to kick me and my friends out. Bonus points for never saying anything when you ask why either! A couple days later I go into Faces during the day to get security footage and they had me sitting for a good 3 hours, updating me that the owner was looking through the footage, just to tell me that I had to go through the police for footage. I tried to but didn't have enough "evidence" lol. It was so hard for me to go back in there to begin with. Any time me or my friends go into Faces, they are followed by him the entirety of the night. He will make remarks or just stand there and make his presence known even though everyone has told him they do not want to be near him. Every floor, every room, he would be there. I would go so far as to call it stalking. His assault hurt me greatly. I have spoken about this, especially immediately after the incident, around midtown/downtown to strangers and have had at LEAST 30 people tell me similar or MUCH worse experiences. Was there the other night with my wife and some friends though and the Bar Tender wouldn't give me free water as the DD. he said "i can't give anything away free on $1 drink night, you have to buy a bottle for $2.50" I told him i just want a glass and he said "too bad, i'm not gonna give you one. Bottle for $2.50, or nothing, sorry!" First off, i've never heard of having to pay for a glass of water anywhere. Paying for a bottle, sure, i can understand that. But for a glass of tap water? WTF? Every other bar i've ever been to will give the DD anything without alcohol in it free of charge, and they wouldn't dish out some water?? Second, he seemed to imply that water is free on other nights, just not on $1 drink nights......why? did he really think they would be losing money? the bar was PACKED and people were ordering drinks left and right. was the $0.02 the water might cost him really so much that i had to buy a bottle??? I know some people who have owned and managed bars and they all tell me "I can charge for singles, pour triples, and still make a big profit". I have to rate Faces with a 2 this time so my current 2 star rating is pretty accurate. I went to Faces this past weekend with a couple of friends and basically got stalked by a straight guy there the entire night! The first time I came across him was in the first room (the hip hop room) that everyone congregates to at some point in the night. "I threw my hands up in the air that time, saying aaaaye yooo, I'm a leeeesbooo" when he tried to grab them to dance with me and I simply told him I wasn't interested. The 2nd time was when I came back to said room after grabbing a glass of water from the bartender and the guy proceeds to grab me and tell me that "I'm so sexy and could I please dance with him?" Obviously the punk a** didn't get the memo & that I'm dancing with women the entire night! The 3rd time I was in the same room, dancing with a cute woman and the idiot just stands there and watches us! Can you say stalker?? I absolutely love this place and have made some great memories with my wife, but a couple months ago my wife and I were very disrespected by the security guard "House". I'm not sure what his real name is. My wife and I went to faces one night and while standing in line we were asked for our ID's. We got our ID's out and when my wife wasn't quick enough for "House", he told her to hurry up. My wife jokingly said, "Damn, what are you, the FBI?!". House then said, "You know what? Fuck you! Get out of here!" My wife then said " What the fuck, okay asshole!" House replies with, "Get the fuck out of here you dyke bitch. You wish you had a dick bitch. Fuck your mom, your mommas a bitch, your daddy's a bitch and you're a bitch! You dyke bitch" My wife and I were very shocked by how we were treated at Faces! Isn't this place supposed to be a fun and safe place to be ale to express who you are?! How could they let someone be a guard who is apparently against gays?! My experience at Faces was really horrible, mainly due to the unprofessional and unethical staff, and the fact that shady people seem to come here. First, you make me pay $5 for bottled water and don't offer free tap water? I'm sorry, but that's a public health crisis my friend. Second, creepy person on drugs talking to themselves next to me in the bathroom. What type of shady ass clientele does this venue attract? Third, and worst of all, when I realized my purse was missing off the dance floor and I asked the various staff at the bar and entry ways where it might have been turned in (at 9:30pm mind you), they ALL blew me off. "Sorry honey, people here will steal the money right out of your pants." Finally after asking everyone, a dancer who had taken over the spot my purse had been informed me that he'd given it to a bar back. Somehow the bar back mysteriously turned my purse into the manager with all the money and valuables missing. Horrible service! The security guards here are on a power trip and will remove you if they don't feel like you fit the scene. A particular security guard who was a black heavy set female discriminates against people who are straight and straight couples. My friend and her husband were dancing when all of a sudden he gets a tap on his shoulder and asked to leave because he was "too drunk" he had 1 drink. We talked to two security guards at the door and they were confused as to why they thought he was asked to leave for being "too drunk" they told us to email the manager. I emailed the manager and he said he was going to look back at the footage and he never got back to us. Stay away! Poor service not accepting of straight people and couples here! Beware!!! I HATE Faces. And it's not because I don't like gay clubs (I love badlands). And it's not because I've gotten kicked out (if I had a quarter for every time I've gotten kicked out of a place with an alcohol license...) It's because Faces SUCKS. It is a shit show, in the worst sense. It is like the scary part of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas when everyone starts to turn into dinosaur-monsters. The crowd is a mixture of soccer moms, divas, bachelorette party boozies, out of towners who don't know where else to go and creepy old men. It is NOT like Badlands where everyone is getting down having a great time. About 60% of the crowd is dancing and 40% is sitting or standing around looking very uncomfortable, gawking at everyone and making it apparent that they were only dragged here. PLUS! Cover is $10! $10!!! Why? It's outrageous. Save your money and go across the street to Badlands. I would like to give zero stars. We were a group of 9 people to have fun in this town. We went to BADLANDS but it was unfortunately packed. We saw this club Dead as fuck across the street and We decided to give it a try. The fat ass black guy at the door was an asshole, when we asked him what was going on inside, he answered don't you hear? This is a night club and the noise inside is music. Yeah it was obvious that was a night club, but with out a soul inside? We decided to walk in but the MUMMY ( he was an old as fuck white dude whit eye glasses) that was standing at the counter asking for ID's was rude as fuck. To start he was giving signs with the finger for us to take a picture after checking our ID with out saying a word after he start yelling at my partner which is pregnant because "apparently" she grab Her ID with out he approves it. Very sad because I used to love this place and would go all of the time. The music was great and arguably used to be one of the best clubs in sacramento. It's primarily straight people now. The club no longer feels safe. One time I went there was a guy trying to hit on women in the bathroom. In the bathroom. Like????? Some of the straight people there are homophobic too which is wild because it's like you came into our space? Please at least don't be rude to the lgbt people here. Always cool with straight allies but like others have said it's unfortunately not really a gay club anymore. I had high hopes for a fun night out at Faces Night Club, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The atmosphere felt cramped and chaotic, making it difficult to enjoy the night. The music was overly loud, almost to the point of being unbearable, and the DJ seemed to be stuck in a time warp with outdated tracks. Service was lacking, with bartenders who appeared overwhelmed and indifferent to customers waiting for their drinks. I also noticed the place was not as clean as I expected, with sticky floors and unkempt restrooms. To make matters worse, the crowd was rowdy, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the evening.
