Like everyone else, we have been socially distancing and staying at home for well over a month. But today is my wife's birthday and I was hoping that at least we could do a decent take out dinner. Since we have been to Fabiani's in Kihei for dinner many times, I was hoping that they would be available for takeout. They indeed were and the dinner was great! We kept it simple with chicken parmigiana and Caesar salads. The salads, as always, were crisp, fresh romaine lettuce, croutons, Caesar dressing, etc. We added our own Parmigiana cheese and voila, a great salad. The chick parmigiana was very good, tender moist chicken, cooked well. Not overly breaded and thick slices of chicken breast. A generous side of pasta and marinara sauce and bread completed the dinner. All we had to do was add the wine. Thanks Fabiani's for helping to salvage a birthday in the midst of Covid19. Visited for lunch. The food was delicious! I ordered the vegetable lasagna and my husband got the chicken alfredo with a side of meatballs. For dessert, the turtle cheesecake was amazing. We were craving for something sweet while staying in Kihei. We used our handy Yelp reviews to find this place. It was obvious a little expensive but not too bad. We are able to get a reservation via Open Table last minute. We had been 2 years ago when they had opened somewhat recently and were happy to return. Tonight was somewhat of a disappointment. Arancini was very lemony. I have had these more than a few times and never with a sweet lemony flavour. Not our favourite. I had a Niçoise salad which featured tough ahi, undercooked fingerling potatoes and a Dijon vinaigrette that was missing both Dijon and vinegar. Also at the table was Caesar salad which was fine, lasagna which was good, and a custom pizza which was tasty. Service was fine and atmosphere is fine. I just want to give a mention to the breakfast at Fabiani's. It's excellently prepared with a good mix of egg dishes, and they have great bakery items and coffee. It tends to be pretty mellow compared to some other breakfast places in the area, they have air conditioning and full service, and even a bar if you want a mimosa or Bloody Mary. The Pizza was great but the service by Lisa needs improvement. First the water glasses were visibly dirty so my wife told her. She protested it was the dishwasher marks left after cleaning.. Next we each ordered a glass of wine and beer for my self. It took her 10 mins to bring the drinks. We ordered 2 pizzas a veggies and a Hawaiian. First the veggie came followed by a pizza that we did not order. So another wait of 15 minutes before the correct pizza arrived. It took me another 10 mins to get my second beer and my wife's second wine. This waitress has her mind on other things or she just doesn't lIke brown person asking her for service. I ended up going here on a Friday night by myself which can be awkward but I was stir crazy after a long work week and needed to get the heck out of the house and be around people. I was treated like a VIP by the staff and felt totally welcome being there solo. I had a simple mushroom pizza with a splash of truffle oil. Perfecto! The crispy thin crust was like traditional Roman pizza and the wine pairing the server suggested was just right. I am starting to think I am supposed to have completely different expectations when eating out in Maui. How does this place have 4 and half stars? We had bad breakfast at Kihei Caffe and had big hopes for some great pizza here. We were greeted warmly by the owner and seated promptly. Our server was friendly and the food came quickly, but lord, what the hell? The Caesar salad tasted like no Caesar salad I have ever tasted, so sweet with no trace of garlic or Parmesan with a stale toasted focaccia strips on top, horrible! The pizza crust was fine, thin and cracker like, but it was definitely not a margarita, just plain cheese pizza like you'd find on a frozen variety with no basil or tomatoes even though they were listed on the menu. The Mauian was sweet as expected and quite soggy. My sister said her linguine vongole was good. It was so disappointing for all the high expectations from the reviews and made me wonder if I was missing something, but as I looked at the cake case for a treat and saw that a cake thick with ganache was labeled red velvet, I felt fine walking out without getting one. I took a party of 5 here for what I was hoping was a nice Italian lunch (how much 'mac salad' can you eat on the island?) We weren't exactly expecting umami, but there was no seasoning or flavor in anything we tried. We ordered a variety of appetizers, entrees and even three desserts. The minestrone soup was completely flavorless. The baked goods (breads, desserts) were incredibly bland. The chocolate pastry was almost bitter. I was looking forward to a tasty pizza with oregano and maybe garlic. It was a nice crispy crust, but it was more reminiscent of crunchy paper than anything else. Just moving to Maui and hoping to call Kihei home. My partner's co-worker recommended Fabiani's for dinner and so we came here tonight to give it a try. Rob ordered the 4 Cheese Ravioli with an Alfredo sauce and I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with a white cream sauce. The chef accommodated our requests for white sauces instead of tomato sauce and the food was excellent. We started with an order of garlic bread and it was not at all what I was expecting. It was so much better..... real garlic (not that nasty salt that most restaurants use.) and great flavor. Rob liked the soft middle and I preferred the crunchy crust. I highly recommend it if your diet will allow. Oh hell, try it anyway. After dinner (with our leftovers wrapped up,) our great waitress Heather asked if we were interested in desert. We decided to pass, but Rob wanted to know what the desert were for future reference and for an excuse to come back... like we needed an excuse. Heather started out with a pumpkin cheesecake and I am not sure that I paid much attention after that.. I LOVE pumpkin cheesecake and usually can only get it around Thanksgiving, so I was going to have some no matter what. Rob listened to the rest of the options (there are a lot.... after all, it is a bakery as well.) and after I ordered the cheesecake, he ordered a Peanut Butter Chocolate Cupcake. I have to say that this was by far the best Pumpkin Cheesecake I have ever tasted. Rob also loved his cupcake and we will definitely be coming here again. The manager Adam stopped by the table and asked about our experience and we mentioned that we were moving here he welcomed us to Maui and thanked us for coming in. The additional staff was very attentive and kept the water glasses full and empty plates were promptly removed. A very pleasant experience and a nice atmosphere. Attended Fabiani's soft launch right before xmas 2011. Decor is quite nice - total rehab of the old kiwi roadhouse space. Tried their pizza (margherita and a brie/sausage combo) and a caprese salad, both were excellent. Pizza is a very thin crust style which I personally like. The owner was a manager at Matteos in wailea, Italian from Italy, so I would expect the same high quality to follow him to his new venture, and our dinner last night indicates that is the case. Solid pizza and dishes. I had the margherita which was good flavor, but not at the 5* level I've had in the past. My main recommmendation would be to use fresher basil. They used what seemed like dryer strips of basil which wasn't as aromatic or impactful as an ingredient. read more

Second time in 3 weeks we have been here. Both times on a Sunday late morning with 8 in our party. First time the place was busy. Nevertheless, half of our meal orders got 'lost' and by the time the lost orders were delivered half of us had finished our meals. The last time we were there only 2 other people were in restaurant. As we were waiting for our meals to arrive, other customers were seated and served. At least 6 other tables showed up after us, got their meals, and left while we waited. I love pizza, all kinds of pizza, deep dish, thin crust, greasy, fancy, all kinds! After being on Maui for about a week I had a serious craving for pizza and we decided to try this place. And boy am I glad we did! We went with our 5 kids on a weeknight and were seated fairly quickly. We ordered the garlic bread, artichoke dip, house salad, chicken Caesar salad, chicken Alfredo, the Mauian, and the special pizza of the day. The special was a cream base with mushrooms, ham, and brie cheese. OMG the pizza. Both of them. They were delicious! I don't prefer thin crust pizzas but this just worked. You can fold a slice in half and get a bite of all the deliciousness at the same time. My stepdaughter has been rating chicken Caesar salads at every place we've dined at and she bumped this one to her number 2 spot. They don't have croutons but serve it instead with a crostini (?) but it was still as good as a crouton. The house salad was good and I loved the candied macadamia nuts. And lastly, Lorenzo's garlic bread. We made the mistake of ordering only one order to split amongst the 7 of us! It only comes with 4 slices so we had to cut them in half so we could all sample the greatness. Next time we are ordering two orders! read more

I don't see what the big deal is here. I can get better thin crust pizza within a mile of my home in Oklahoma. Our pizzas--veggie and Hawaiian--were just ok. Each 12" pizza had a perimeter of 1 1/2 inch that was just crust. There was a paucity of ingredients on each pizza including cheese, rendering them not tasteless exactly, but not very tasty. Based on all the reviews, we'd been prepared to be wowed, but were sorely disappointed. In addition, we ordered some baked goods but when we got home we found that 2 of our items, tho paid for, hadn't made it in the bag. A lemon/raspberry cream cake was so-so--the frosting was odd tasting so I scraped it off (and I'm a frosting nut). That item tasted mass produced. The other pastry item we actually got was a pumpkin tart that was very good, moist, pumpkiny, with great taste and texture. The items we paid for but did not receive we're a cherry breakfast type roll and a crumb cake. All in all, a definite thumbs down experience. read more
