We were walking by and saw a line and figured we needed to try this place. They have a 2 line system so make sure you get into the need to order line and not the waiting for my order. Just let the staff directing the lines know you need to order and they will get you in the right line. Inside smell delicious and there is no seating. It's all to go. The fries were delicious
I love this place! The workers here are friendly and full of joy. They have a queue outside and it goes by pretty fast. You place your order and then go outside to wait for your order. We got the truffle aioli on top of the fries with freshly grated Parmesan. The fries were hearty, hot, and crispy! The flavor was insanely good and I loved eating these on the street. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Amsterdam!

I went to this place after 8 pm and they were still serving hot fries which was astonishing to me. I walked in the cold and ate my piping hot fries as everything was bursting with flavor.
There are many things I'll miss about Amsterdam, but the fries are definitely at the top of my list. There's something about the fries here that are just at another level. Don't even get me started on the mayo and toppings. Yum! While I think I preferred the fries at Vlemnickx a tad but more than these, I did like the way these were served in a tray. It made it easier to get to the bottom without getting your hands all dirty and saucy! If there's a line, it moves at the speed of lightning so don't hesitate to grab some!
Of course instagram got me months ago when I kept seeing this pace posted... it was a non negotiable spot we were trying while visiting Amsterdam. I expected lines and tons of people and was really shocked there wasn't a line at all. Instant frites for us!! We topped ours with tons of cheese and sauce. So delicious!!
If you're a lover of fried foods this is it. Friets, croquettes, and frikendel (fried sausage) is what we ordered. I was fried out with but loved the truffle mayo and the sausage. Such a tiny space. If ordering as one person then you can order in the front. If more than one in the party then you order towards the back. No room for sitting - just ordering and picking up your food. There is a wait line for them to call your name. This is a take and go place for quick fried foods. Super simple and quick. They have someone outside to man the craziness.
We went on a weekend afternoon so naturally the line was almost a whole block long, but I'm so glad we waited and got their fries! The line is fairly fast moving because they quickly take your order and then make you await outside for a few minutes while they get your order ready. Since the menu is fairly straightforward, they get the food ready within minutes. There isn't really a sitting area inside the restaurant so it is more of a grab and go kind of place, but since it is located next to the canals, you can grab your food and sit along the canal to eat. Lunch with the views was awesome! These are One of the best fries I've ever had and they are very filling! I highly recommend the Fries, onion, truffle mayo and curry sauce. I was a bit hesitant about the curry sauce, but it turned out to be my favorite sauce! We also tried their cheese croquettes! This was also delicious, but the veal croquette is their most popular croquette. Next time I'm in Amsterdam, I'll definitely be back!
This place is 100 percent worth the hype! Fries are a big deal in Amsterdam, so we ate them a LOT, and Fabel Friet was #1 on our list. I recommend the fries with truffle mayo and parmesan. The fries are perfectly crispy and the mayo and cheese compliment them perfectly. The line is long (it goes across the street) but they are super organized and move very quickly. Because they are so popular and so many people visit their location, you'll need to go a couple blocks down the street to sit and eat.
Fries were great. I was worried it wouldn't be crunchy after all the toppings but I was worried for nothing. We got the special which consisted of curry ketchup, mayo and onions. We enjoyed it. The shrimp croquette was ok. Super crispy but a tad fishy. We went on a Thursday night and the guy said they close at 9p. Wish that was posted somewhere.
BEST FRIES I have ever eaten in my entire life. I am NOT joking. Perfectly salted, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. I do not know what it is about european potatoes, but they hit so different from usa potatoes. Got to try the truffle mayo parmesan fries and they were to die for. Even my mom who is a health nut could not get enough of the fried goodness that is fabel friet. The line goes out the door, but it moves exceptionally fast. Definitely come here when in Amsterdam. It is a must eat.
These fries are really tasty, but there's def pros and cons. I got their recommendation which was curry ketchup, mayo, and onions. And I will say it was pretty tasty. I washed it down with an orange Fanta. Con is that there's always a line but it moves quickly. I waited about 10 minutes. Another huge con is there's no where to enjoy your hot fries. I didn't know this until a rude employee came up to me, but you aren't allowed to linger around any of the stores within 2 blocks with your frites. They have these signs up that are easy to miss. So an employee told me I couldn't stand at the corner and I told him there was nowhere to eat. I had placed my food down on a sidewalk stoop then he proceeded to say that the sign says no standing. I corrected him and told him it says no sitting so I didn't sit. And he then tried telling me that sitting and standing were the same thing, so I felt the need to correct him LOL I ended up leaving and walking 4 blocks from the shop, which at that point my fries were already cold due to the weather. The frites are good but they need to work on getting some tables or counter space so people don't get berated for eating their frites on the corner.
Fries done right and hot off the press! We had a list of places to check out during our visit to Amsterdam, and this place was on the top of our list as it comes highly recommended. Who doesn't love fries and fries with stuff on them, even better! There was a bit of a line when we got there a couple of hours before lunch time but it wasn't too bad. Overall our weight was maybe a total of 20-30 minutes from line, to ordering, and receiving our food. Our fries came in a medium size and we got to pick between Parmesan or cheddar cheese and 1-2 sauces. I got the curry sauce and my husband got the truffle mayo. We never enjoyed fries so much standing outside on a drizzly winter morning. read more
Walking through Amsterdam, you'll find a lot of shops claiming that their fries are the best in the city. But Fabel Friet has such a great media presence and we were drawn by all of the TikToks and Reels of their truffle mayo fries. That's their most popular order but there are different sauces you can try too. One order is great as a snack for a group. I personally wasn't that big of a fan of their fries though. I thought it could've been crispier and saltier but at least the truffle mayo makes up for the lack of salt. The fries are a thicker cut too and I needed more sauce with each bite for an even potato to sauce ratio. But at least they're very generous with the sauce...it's practically smothered! If there's a long line, it should move pretty fast because they're making fries non-stop. I'm glad I got to try it but they weren't like the most amazing fries I've ever had. I don't think you have to go out of your way just to try. read more

fries were okay, honestly prefer mcdonald's fries lol but it paired well with the truffle mayo. the sauce is definitely the best part and elevates the fries by a lot. wouldn't go out of my way to get this again. read more

As far as fries go, these are undeniably very good. Additionally, for being a "viral" spot, the customer experience is pretty simple and fast. Even with cheese and mayo, these fries retain their crispy texture and soft delicious interior. No real reason why I can think not to give it 5 stars. Price is reasonable too. read more
I always come here when I'm in town! The line can be long and you have to wait on the bridge across the street, but we were in line and out with our food in 10 minutes. Super quick and efficient! I always get the truffle mayo and parmesan fries and I look forward to it every time. read more
Sometimes when you read all the hype and see the lines for places like this in notable travel locations you are sadly disappointed. Not here! Fable Friet lives up to its reputation. Crunchy crisp hot fries freshly cooked to order with your choice of gourmet "dip it" dolloped on top. Don't let the line discourage you, the ordering system is a well oiled machine. Tips Know before you go. Check out the online menu. Be mindful of bike traffic and cars while getting on queue. Be respectful of the neighboring businesses and walk over the bridge and enjoy your friets with a view of the canal. read more

Sorry, but I do not get the appeal of this :( Sure, the fries are fresh and goes well with the sauce and cheese... but it's not life changing or anything. I'd say give it a try if the wait is 5-10min. But beyond that, I'm not sure it is worth it. Thankfully, the lines move pretty quick especially if you go during off-peak hours. read more
Amazing fries! The best we've had in Europe! We walked past this shop, saw the line outside and knew we had to try these fries after eating many mediocre fries on our trip. These were spectacular. Super fresh and you can select 1) Choice of Cheese (cheddar or Parmesan) and 2) Sauce. We got the cheddar and spicy mayo as toppings and they didn't not disappoint. The real star of course are the potatoes. Perfectly fried to be crispy and crunchy but someone still starchy and a little creamy inside, each fry was amazing and somehow tasted super fresh and not too heavy. read more

My fiance and I had the fries with truffle mayo, parmesan, and a side of tomato ketchup. They were super tasty and enough for two people to share as a snack. They load up on the toppings (pictured below). The line was long, even during off-peak hours, but the service was quick! The staff were friendly, and we didn't wait longer than 7-10 minutes, even with a line. The only bummer is there isn't any seating. You have to find a spot to eat which can be tricky on a busy afternoon. Overall, everything was really good, and I would recommend it if you're in the area. But, it's not something I would go out of my way for since the lines/lack of seating made it a little overwhelming. read more

Are the fries good? Yes. Are they the best? No. As much as I would want to write otherwise, they just are not the best I've had in Amsterdam. A bit too oily and not salty enough. The sauce was good, but that was about it. That being said, the staff is wonderful and always so helpful. read more

AHHHHH BEST FRIES EVERRRR!! I'm from California and I've had a lot of fries in my life but THESEEEEE are TOP NOTCH. simply amazing. Stayed in Amsterdam for 5 days and ended up going here twice. The service was so quick, the process to order, and pick up my food was very smooth. I could not recommend these fries enough!!!! read more
Good fries. But they are fries. I googled fries and was across the street coincidentally. I had no idea this was the Amsterdam influencer of fries. I also didn't know about the parm cheese being the thing. I find cheese fries a bit extra but maybe that's why people go nuts. The line wasn't long when I got there but soon was over the bridge. Nice efficient operation but it's sort of like a club with velvet ropes and bouncers. For fries. People like a big production and to wait in lines for things. I'm into a more low key sitch. But again the fries with spicy mayo were very tasty and super fresh. I'd eat them again sans line. read more
There are many frite places in Amsterdam, but Fabel Freit stood out the most. Heard there is usually a long wait, but we got there a bit passed 730pm and did not wait more than 5 minutes. It's a small place, but the workers are super efficient in getting your order prepared asap! The friets were hot and crispy since its double fried. They also have a variety of sauces to choose from. We chose spicy mayo and truffle mayo- both solid choices! I would probably make another stop before leaving Amsterdam. read more

This is what we came to Amsterdam for. The Fries! They were hot and fresh. You also have a lot of different sauces to choose from. We went with the truffle parmesan fries. We only had to wait ten minutes in line, which was not too crazy. You place your order, and they are ready in about ten more minutes. There are no tables or places to sit; that was the only thing I would make people aware of regarding the ambiance. read more

Absolutely worth the stop! The French fries are fresh and crispy and paired perfectly with the parm, spicy Mayo and truffle Mayo. The menu is simple but has everything you need. I have tried a few other fry spots and this one takes the win! The line might seem daunting but the service is so efficient and it really does not take long at all to get your order. read more

Come early or mid week and grab a friend if you can, one person waits in line while the other scouts for a seat by the canals. Service is quick and efficient, you can scan the QR code for the menu to be ready before reaching the counter. The fries are crisp and just thick enough to retain moisture and flavor without being a dense potato wedge(Manneke style, niet voor mij). The parmezaan cheese makes the friet a little sweet, Mayo and curry are just my childhood favorites (cool vs. spicy). The shop itself is very neat, but there is no seating and you may not annoy the neighbors by eating outside at the steps of their doors, houses or shop windows, so find a seat by the canal or just keep on walking. Veel succes Fabel Friet, I plan to return when I'm back in your neighborhood. read more
Some of the best fries i tasted in my life. Sauce on the fries o man, they are amazing. it is something to try for sure. Place does not have dining and always have lines to order the fries and we cannot eat in front or this or any restaurants so these r the points to keep a note of but the fries are worth for sure. Very tasty fries with lots of different sauces to chose from. I went with their most popular -- truffle mayo and it did not disappoint. Order took less than 5 minutes to come out, and they usually have a long to order, but thankfully when I arrived, the wait was less than 5 minutes. Inside of the store is super tiny, so no seating at all, everything is to-go, so you'll probably have to find a bench along the canal or just stand on the sidewalk. A medium is plenty for one person, but you can go up in size if you're sharing :) or just extra hungry. Fries were crispy and not greasy at all. Very filling and tasty! Would come back to try their other flavors. read more
I'm not a huge fry person but if you add a bunch of toppings, I am there! I heard about this place multiple times while researching different food to try while in Amsterdam. We ordered one with Parmesan cheese and mayo. It was pretty good. The mayo doesn't taste like mayo in the U.S. I would describe it between a mayo and a gravy..so don't freak out about a big glob of plain mayo on your fries. I also ordered a beef croquette. It was my first time trying one. It was not bad, but my husband didn't care for it. Not many people fit inside this place so you line up outside, they let one or two people in at a time to order, you exit and wait for them to call your name outside. Note that there are no tables to sit at so you must take your food to eat somewhere else.There are signs that say not to eat in front of the neighboring houses, rather eat next to the canal. Be prepared for pigeons to swarm you though. Might be best to just eat and walk to your next destination. read more
