I honestly couldn't be happier and my coat isn't even finished! My grandmother gave me a very old mink coat, which was in need of some fixing. I first took it to Neiman's fur department, and left in tears because they told me it was worthless. I didn't feel that it was completely worthless, so I started hunting around Yelp. I knew there must be some place in the City of Chicago who could atleast attempt to help me with this treasured coat! Once I found Fabbri, and read all their fabulous reviews, I gave them a call and set up an appointment. The two gentlemen who helped me could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Originally I didn't think much about redesigning the coat, just fixing some rips. With their amazing, kind suggestions I ended up dyeing it a much richer color, adding a swingy bottom with additional fox fur on the hem, cuffs and collar, and lining it in a gorgeous rose pattern. I was a bit nervous to go to my fitting, I wanted the coat so badly to look like what I was imagining in my head, and it could not have turned out more perfectly - beyond my imagination! The color is rich, the hem is swingy, the fox is so beautiful. It is stunning, down to the last detail! And it fits like a glove! The sleeves need a bit of a hem, but other than that it is perfect. They took superb measurements and it showed during the fitting. I can't wait to have it all finished in time for the cold weather. It is a coat I will cherish for my life, and hopefully pass down, just like it was passed down to me. Sentimental value aside, the alterations made to this piece turned it into a one of a kind coat, and at a fraction of the price I would have paid to design it from scratch. I recently inherited my great aunt's raccoon fur coat. Given that it is from circa 1920's, the style and fit did not suit me. The team at Fabbri did an excellent job "restyling" the coat to have a better fit and more modern silhouette. As I have very little knowledge of furs and fur garments, they did a great job explaining the reason behind each suggested alteration. Yet they also were not pushy and accepted my input as well. All three of us were blown away by the variety and stylish nature of their products. We were given quite an education on furs, and all three of us left with a coat that so perfectly matched our style and personality. I was the person posting the question on Yelp as to whether or not Fabbri Furs is still open...I'm so happy to say YES! Because of the looting and COVID, the store did not appear open; however, they are and what amazing service I am receiving! I live out of state, but only wanted Sergio and his team to redesign and recut my fur to bring it to a current style. We designed it together, brainstorming ideas and measuring. Sergio has since mailed the GORGEOUS coat to me (in a very impressive quality hanging box, btw, but understated enough to not draw attention to the value of what's inside). I love what he did, the cut, new lining, the monogram, etc. Sadly, it was still a bit big and when we FaceTimed he said, "No, mail it back!" because he didn't like it. Really?! Awesome. He sent me a prepaid label and I mailed it back at no charge to me. Anyway, I can wholeheartedly share that my experience with Sergio at Fabbri has been very professional. I love his attention to small details and the fact that he cares about his customers shows. Thank you Sergio and your team for a fun experience and an awesome "new" coat! read more

I have mixed feelings after my experience there today. (A long and thorough review) I know it's their busy season and sales of their furs is their priority, and I only brought in a repair, but I guess I was expecting to walk out more hopeful and optimistic than when I came in. Alas, that was not the case. :( I've read the reviews on here, and I even brought in a cute short rabbit fur jacket in last year to be cleaned, with an underarm tear that was very nicely repaired, but nothing drastic, and it didn't look much different then pre cleaning. But, it's not like I expected angels to fly out of it. At $69, it was a bit more than I expected, but the reviews raved about this place. This time, I read the updated reviews, snd felt once again encouraged to try them out for a repair. Now, it was a bit more challenging, as I'd acquired an off-white shearling coat with a lovely fluffy collar and fur trim on the edges of the opening and hem, with chain closures. BUT, due to improper storage (I'm guessing) by the previous owner, there's a tear under the collar and the left "point" of the collar had been accidentally folded under and sustained a crease on the skin side as well as fur loss, not just matting of the fur. The left side of the edge fur is noticeably thinner looking and less fluffy than the right, which is also not just from matting, but "loss of the guard hairs"" so the salesman said. And the adhesive inside for much of the edge fur was worn away, though the fur still holds. Anyway, I'd conveyed this all to Brian over the phone a few days ago, and he was of the opinion that it was just matting of the fur, and encouraging about the tear in the collar, saying they could fix it. I made clear it was in the skin, not just a seam repair, but he was still very optimistic. The salesman I saw today was very sweet, gentlemanly, and seemed like a lovely person, so my problem isn't with him personally. I'm just very disappointed there could be such a disparity in the phone and in person outlook of these repairs. The gentleman today basically said the collar and edge fur on the left side should be replaced, and it would cost me twice as much as what I paid for the coat--$190--so, $380. :( :( :( Still, while I work in legal now, my degree is in design, and I can see the potential beauty of this coat at its best. So, I asked him if the cost could be less if I managed to find the fur needed. He said yes. But still, it was a depressing experience for me. Honestly, I felt like it was a bit of a wasted trip. And I didn't (nor did I think I would) get the same level of customer service as a sale, but, I felt I was misled by the optimistic phone outlook, which didn't mention collar and fur replacement AT ALL. :( While I didn't walk out in tears, like the lady in review below with her bad Nordstroms experience, I definitely felt close to it. Still do, actually. Maybe there's no "Christmas miracle" in the cards for my coat now, or at Fabbri, but I'm determined to try and keep looking. I KNOW it can be a beautiful coat, even if they don't. When I asked what he would do, the salesman said he'd return the coat. I didn't actually meet with Brian or Sergio, but he seemed fairly knowledgeable, if disheartening. All in all, nice and polite people, but more hopeful and optimistic on the phone than in person. I just wish the in person prognosis of the repairs and damage matched the phone outlook. :( read more

So despite the fact that I live next door to a big name furrier on Michigan Ave, I decided to take my fur cape to this little boutique on Oak St. I thought I'd start with a small piece. It was a quick clean. And... It all just started there! When I left my long coat there for restyling, I knew I'm in good hand, and the coat came out just as perfect as I imagined! Sergio and Brian are very friendly and, more importantly, passionate and knowledgable about what they do. I felt so special every time I see them. (btw, Sergio and Brian, if you are reading, I will be jealous if you treat others the same as me...) So THERE! That's how good these guys are! I own two vintage furs, one belonging to my grandmother and one that belonged to her best friend. I brought the best friend's fur to Fabbri to see if they could do anything about the smell, since it had been hanging in someone's basement for about 20 years. They cleaned it and mended two tears under the arms, but because they were not satisfied with how the fur smelled, they did not charge me for their work. There is no question that I will be bringing my grandmother's coat there for storage over the summer months and for any repairs that might be needed. A side note on their customer service. While I was waiting to pick up the fur that had been cleaned, they were repairing a woman's full-length shearling coat, while she waited, also free of charge. read more

If you are going to restyle a coat this is the place to go. I took a fur that was given to me and had it completely redone. They even sheared it and added beautiful dolman sleeves and a big classy hood. I never would have worn it in its original state because it was too old fashioned. My wife and I were at a wedding in December and my wife borrowed her grandmothers mink to wear to the event. We checked the coat and after the wedding it was returned torn at several seams and 2 panels of the fur appeared to have been cut or ripped... we took the fur to 2 other furriers/fur retail stores for an estimate and they both inferred that the mink was beyond repair and a lost cause. One place offered to make a teddy bear out of it. So on a recommendation from my wifes friend who works at Intermix we tried Fabbri Furs. Sergio and Brian were very understanding of our situation and assured us they could make the repairs. I picked the mink coat up today and am pleased to say that Sergio did an amazing job! Picked up a 50yr old vintage fur at an antique market and brought it to FF to get that "vintage smell" out of it. They cleaned it, plus lengthened the sleeves an inch. Great service, very knowledgeable, and happy to provide an appraisal for insurance. However, the coat is very delicate, I came to find, and I have to bring it back in for a tear in the shoulder (my bad). Of course returning because of their great work, I'm counting on them again. EDIT: Updated to add comments a couple months later... The coat was in near-mint condition when I found it until I got my silly paws on it and tore the hide on the sleeve seam. I need to be more gentle when handling it. At any rate, I returned to Fabbri to have them mend it, plus glue down a spot of the hide that was coming up on another portion of the coat. When I picked it up, I inspected it to see that they did a magnificent job with the repair. Of course I'll take the coat back in the spring for seasonal storage, and I have no doubts as to their skill with repairs. read more

I found Fabbri Furs through yelp and decided to go here because of all the great reviews. This place certainly exceeded my expectations. The service is exceptional. Sergio Fabbri (the owner) is all about the client and goes above and beyond to make sure that the customer is happy. I e-mailed him on Thursday evening telling him that I needed to have my fur altered on Saturday and needed it to be done that day. He promptly responded, and helped me out last minute. My fur was ready Saturday evening, and Sergio even called me afterwards to ensure that I was happy. He truly cares about making his customers happy and the work that he did was excellent!! I was referred to Fabbri Furs by a friend and recently took a jacket to them to be cleaned. My jacket was returned looking better than ever!!!! I also informed them of small tear repair needed near one of the pockets on my jacket, they fixed the repair complimentary. Fabrri provides quality work, great customer service, the prices are very affordable, and their selection of furs are simply beautiful. Fabbri Furs is fantastic! After a long search for a fur coat which included shopping trips to NYC I could not have purchased my coat anywhere else. Not only do they have very unique pieces they genuinely care about their customers. Sergio is a master furrier and talented designer with a keen eye who was not timid to offer suggestions during my fitting which were spot on and added to a more flattering look. Brian is not your typical salesman, he is kind, soft spoken and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Both guys love what they do and their passion is easily reflected in their solid expertise. Their service is over the top, they do an amazing job and they are overall very nice people. I have recommended them to many. I had a long, too-big mink coat and they restyled it to make it new again. Brought my old coat back to life - and me! As another reviewer said - don't be scared off by the address. Check them out. Sergio and Brian are pros. They know fur and they know what looks good on you. I love what they did for my Blackglama mink coat with a sable collar. As soon as they saw it on me they told me why it wasn't a good style for me and then proceeded to tell me how it should be. They took the coat completely apart and remade it in a style that is flattering and elegant and yet so comfortable to wear. We put a burgundy lining in and it is just stunning. I was completely in their hands and let them do what they said was best for me and the coat and I could not be happier. It is gorgeous. It was worth every penny because now I have this beautiful coat that I can wear all winter long. Working with Sergio and Brian is like working with your best friend. I received my most recent "redo" of an old fur from Fabbri and they outdid themselves. Sergio recommended shearing of a full length autumn haze color mink I hadn't worn in a long time. He did a raincoat lining in a darker color which makes it reversible. He kept the regular length collar and cuffs and added extra skins to make the fit better. The result was a coat that is more current and will be much more wearable and also different than what is usually seen. i continue to be impressed with the creativity of Fabbri Furs and their customer service and prices. read more

I just had one of my mom's furs restyled by Sergio. He was attentive to detail and offered great suggestions. He created a modern style that turned out even better than I had imagined! The customer service at Fabbri is exemplary. I found myself in need of a minor but time sensitive repair. My furrier had recently closed, so I chose Fabbri somewhat randomly out of desperation. And I lucked out: I have rarely had such a good first experience with a company. Not only did they repair the tear in my coat, but they actually dropped everything to do it while I waited. I found them on Yelp as I was having sheading issues with a new shearling that I bought over in Italy. They took the time to me to explain why and suggested that I get it cleaned, with no guarantees it would correct the problem, but that cleaning was my only recourse. I had a red fox 3/4-length fur that I loved which was literally falling apart and asked them to replicate this fur for me. They did a wonderful job and this new fur is even more beautiful than the original. They do great work, and I am planning to take my black ranch mink to them to have the lining replaced. They also replaced the lining of a very old Persian lamb coat, and they did a great job with that as well. While in the shop I loved the wonderful variety of fur coats they have available.
