I came here, hoping to use Wellhub, while I was waiting on my car to get serviced in the area. I called beforehand to confirm the online schedule and ask if there was space in the class I wanted to be in, which was BodyPump. The employee confirmed, so I spent my money on an Uber getting there. I arrive, check in, etc. There were two men at the desk: one with long hair and a Black man with glasses who was seemingly the manager. The one with the hair asked if I was the one who called. I confirmed. I went upstairs for the class. On my way, I noticed the demographic here was significantly older and the equipment was, too. Fine - just came for the class. I get upstairs and see people rolling into the room with yoga mats. I go downstairs and ask the same long-haired man to confirm the class happening. He tells me it's yoga but says that the online schedule says bodypump. They apologized but literally WTF? I've now wasted my money and time and mentally prepared for a workout and all y'all have to offer is a damn apology? The manager asked if I wanted to workout or take the yoga class. No shade but GTFOH. lol it was a very gentle yoga looking class for elderly people and I am not interested. Then, the manager offers to take me through a 30-minute workout because he's a trainer. I say sure but emphasize that the class I was promised was a 50-minute class. Then, he disappeared. WTF? lol

Studio fit my needs for an OTF workout and I got to check off Maryland on my OTF workout lists. One of the things I love is that I can work out whenever and wherever, even across the country from my usual studio. Staff was friendly enough but not over welcoming since I was an existing member visiting from another studio. They seem like they have a good client base who knows each other so they may be welcoming to newcomers if you start coming consistently.

When I lived in Miami, I was a regular, going 4-5 times a week, and I kept up a solid 3-4 days when I first moved back to Maryland. But then life happened (bad weather, school cancellations, and kids getting sick). Going to OTF became a burden. Not because I did not want to or did not enjoy the class ; because between the 8 hour cancellation minimum, grace period and full classes; it was become too much. I've been hit with multiple last-minute cancellation fees, and the final straw was being turned away exactly at the 5-minute grace period. It's incredibly frustrating to see these strict rules enforced selectively while they are bent for others. The lack of flexibility and the unfriendly attitude from some of the staff made it impossible to stay. Now, I'm stuck paying for a 12-month contract until May, despite not stepping foot in the studio since December. That's six months of payments for a service I don't use because the manager refused to offer any compromise. If you need a workout that fits into a busy life without the added stress, learn from my experience and DO NOT sign up for a contract there.

My boyfriend found this class on Meetup.com and sent me the link. For a $10 dollar drop in fee, you can get a full hour of heart pumping, good cardie dance work out that allows you to work each and every muscle group. They also offer ab classes as well along with a series of other classes such as triple threat. Now, I read the previous review from another Yelper, and I felt her review was a tab bias. I felt her negative observation of the some of the female dancers was just not something you should to someone that is possible looking for another fitness class outlet. I did not find the female dancers to be a negative representation of the instructor, but a breath of fresh air to see women of all races and body types working towards a fitness goal. And I will most definitely return if I am in the Rockville area.

(But also, support local businesses and try and buy classes too if you're able!) I took two classes this week - one with Kathy and one with Brenda. Both instructors were so welcoming and kind. Both classes were challenging (but accessible!). I enjoyed both classes a lot - Kathy's sculpt yoga class had me hobbling the next day, and Brenda's class had me challenging myself to try poses I hadn't before. She also had a message at the beginning and end of class about making sure to focus on you're "want to be" list (strong, brave, kind, loving, etc) versus your "to do" list. I love this. In both classes, it seems as though there's great community - a lot of the women seemed to know each other and were excited to take classes together. I hope that if I were in the area, I could be a part of this uplifting environment. The studio itself is clean, has great AC, and has lots of windows to look at trees while you're trying not to fall over in your own tree pose. They also have blocks, straps and I think some mats available. I look forward to coming here if I'm ever in the area again.

She has a friendly, helpful assistant & had yoga mats to borrow, & very cute yoga clothing for sale. Overall, an excellent studio to practice yoga. As a chiropractor, I've found that light resistance weight training three times a week for just 20' & yoga for 2-3 days/week are the most important ways to keep healthy, fit, & have lasting energy. Cheers! DocMikeChiro Update: At Brenda's recommendation, I took today's morning yoga class with Dana. It was the most incredible & challenging, intermediate level yoga class I have ever taken. I asked if she had her class on video so that I can share it with my patients and friends who are yoga instructors. Brenda's Uplift Yoga studio is truly an excellent place to practice & improve strength, balance, & focus.

After a few weeks, my kids got their first karate (white) belt. The school is clean and spacious. They follow covid-19 protocols. They have a sign on the door that everyone has to wear a mask. They check the temperature and provide hand sanitizer. They offer in-person and zoom classes. Students have the option to attend the zoom karate class if they missed the in-person class. They teach karate to all ages. Prices vary depending on their age. We saw Mr. Teague (owner) teach in-person and virtual classes. I think my kids have to earn the next level to be in his class. I highly recommend this karate school to anyone interested.
