I joined Get In Shape For Women, Rockville, at the end of January, 2011 with great trepidation. My…read morefood addictions were getting the best of me and I was 100 lbs overweight and was finding it difficult to get out of bed and get motivated. I didn't see that I had anything to look forward to. After six weeks I am feeling much better. I have lost 16 pounds and have a lot more energy. I really enjoy going in to exercise. It's hard work, but already I can feel my body shape changing. Ivan and Tina, the owners, are fantastic and make everyone feel welcome. I have met new friends there and we laugh our way through the hour workout. The Get in Shape for Woman concept is a good one. Four women can start every half hour. The first half hour is weight training. We rotate through four upper or four lower body stations. Some weeks we go through all eight stations and cover the entire body and some weeks we just lift weights for the upper or lower body very slowly. Evidently this confuses our muscle memory so that we don't get into a rut. It is less boring too. While we're doing the weight training, Ivan, or one of his great staff, work with us and make sure we've got correct body alignment. I've had no soreness, but I can tell I'm getting stronger because I'm using heavier weights now. The second half hour is aerobic and uses interval training. There are treadmills and elliptical machines and we go at a manageable pace for 3 minutes and then for 1 minute we push hard and go as fast as we can. After 7 intervals we are finished. With the staff's encouragement I have increased my interval speed from 3.6 to 4.7. Did I mention that the studio manager, Lakesha, checks up on my diet periodically? I get emails and phone calls from her asking about what I've been eating and she is always available to help with issues. Get In Shape For Women has a software program that helps manage one's daily diet. I haven't had much time yet to plan daily menus, but I will. The program has sample menus that can help get you started on the right dietary path. Originally I was worried that I would not be able to keep up because I was so out of shape. I am 58 years old and can not (now) keep up with the 30 and 40 year old women in terms of weights and speed. In this regard there is no competitiveness although I do enjoy the contests to win a day at the spa or even a Mini-Cooper. I would recommend Get in Shape For Women to any woman of any age. It has helped me immensely. Karen G., Rockville MD

My last 5-star review for OneLife at Pike & Rose was posted in 2020 shortly after Maryland Gov…read more Larry Hogan lifted the COVID remain-in-place restrictions. Ever since then I have remain a committed member of OneLife at Pike & Rose for a number of reasons: 1. Pike & Rose staff and trainers are awesome! Everyone is willing to help and answer your questions. If you frequent the gym consistently, say 2 or 3 times a week as do I, gym staff and workout buddies will become a positive influence in your life. This helps you want to return to the gym on a regular consistent basis. 2. The outdoor astroturf workout space as well as the natural light throughout the East and South-facing gym always supply good visual energy. I have yet to find a gym with the high quality of natural light Pike & Rose supplies to members. 3. Local manager Skyler and Fitness Director Carolyn listen to members questions and/or concerns. The over all quality of the gym, the efficiency of equipment, the way in which members approach and use the gym are all on Skyler and Carolyn's radar. They may not be able to remedy a situation at any given moment for a number of valid reasons yet they will make a note. And they are always looking for ways to improve our experience at OneLife. Things do change for the better; new equipment arrives and class schedules are adjusted to help members. 4. The personal trainers are awesome! Every single one of them is kind, polite, friendly and approachable. You can always ask them a question or two and if they can't help you, they will direct you to someone who can. Over the years I have worked out with a number of personal trainers and I can guarantee you this: you fitness achievements will increase so long as you stick to it. What ever you are facing as far a personal limitations and/or goals go, your personal trainer will work with you to help you achieve your fitness goals while remaining mindful of any physical constraints that may need extra attention. Over time, the returns on your investment working out with a personal trainer will manifest themselves in a positive way (body, mind & spirit). 5. Lastly, the cleanliness of the gym and locker rooms remains attended to throughout the day. Cleaning staff are great, I enjoy seeing them as well when I work out at Pike & Rose. Keep at it and pace yourself. Slow and steady wins the race!

I love this location!…read more 3 Floor of fitness options: cardio, strength training, stretching areas, several group classrooms, red light therapy room, massage chair rooms, outdoor turf area, and saunas (within gender locker rooms). This gym is nicely constructed and renovated (from a different gym), and offers 2.5hrs of validated garage parking. No pool, but there are so many fantastic amenities and new equipment available, you won't mind. You'll get a warmup in trekking those 3 levels via stairs, but an elevator is readily available for accommodating all accessibility levels. Also, being located in the convenient area of Pike & Rose, there are plenty options to run errands, or grab food. I Highly recommend!

I have signed up with this location since 10/28/2019. Upto today they are billing has never been correct, even after multi calls and talk to two people in person. When I 1st signed up, they suggested to put me under my friend's account so I can get some discount each month. I specifically asked if we will get separate bills and the lady confirmed with a big "yes". She took down my credit card information and I sign the contract. Moving forward in Jan, we realized they have been double charge on my friend's account since Oct.2019. I called in to the lady who signed me up, to confirmed my CC information. She wasn't sure why my bill got charged on my friend's but she will fix it. One month later, still the same issue. I called again, they told me that they don't have my CC information I need to go in to the gym to update my information!!!! I was disturb already at that point. I originally set for auto pay just to save the time to be convenient. But it's totally the opposite. I went into the gym I gave them my CC again, they promised in Feb everything will be corrected. I asked if they could refund my friend and charge everything on my card instead, the gentleman who helped me says he will try. Moving forward, it's March now gym get close down: but my friend still got double charged. At this point my friend has gone in the gym 2times about this issue as well. As a consumer, I really don't understand, with all the confusion charge the last thing you can do maybe not apologize to me but the other person who y'all continuously faulty charged. But no I called again, asked to talk to the manager directly, he told me my information never get put down right. But it's not my fault isn't it? Im not asking for discount or anything. All I asked was refund the money back to my friend's card and charge on my credit card instead. But he denied, he isn't willing to do anything to help. With all the inconvenience, No apology no anything, but an attitude!!! The feeling I got from this place/ manager was...... no matter what we do wrong, nothing you can do.... or don't be a member with us. WE DONT CARE! I like gold's gym, most employees at the gym seems nice but This poor customer service need to change, otherwise I'm sure y'all gonna lose more members.
