This is an old, outdated gym for people of a certain age and beyond. Additionally, they provided terrible customer service as well as inaccurate information. I came here, hoping to use Wellhub, while I was waiting on my car to get serviced in the area. I called beforehand to confirm the online schedule and ask if there was space in the class I wanted to be in, which was BodyPump. The employee confirmed, so I spent my money on an Uber getting there. I arrive, check in, etc. There were two men at the desk: one with long hair and a Black man with glasses who was seemingly the manager. The one with the hair asked if I was the one who called. I confirmed. I went upstairs for the class. On my way, I noticed the demographic here was significantly older and the equipment was, too. Fine - just came for the class. I get upstairs and see people rolling into the room with yoga mats. I go downstairs and ask the same long-haired man to confirm the class happening. He tells me it's yoga but says that the online schedule says bodypump. They apologized but literally WTF? I've now wasted my money and time and mentally prepared for a workout and all y'all have to offer is a damn apology? The manager asked if I wanted to workout or take the yoga class. No shade but GTFOH. lol it was a very gentle yoga looking class for elderly people and I am not interested. Then, the manager offers to take me through a 30-minute workout because he's a trainer. I say sure but emphasize that the class I was promised was a 50-minute class. Then, he disappeared. WTF? lol read more

The gym is very outdated. But the staff is friendly and cheap membership. You never have to wait for equipment because it's never crowded.

Worst golds location i have ever been to. set up is about 10 years old. Weird membership fees. If you see this gym you know its not worth even 20$ a month. they need a renovation badly. If you go inside it looks like an office building that just had gym equipment placed in there. Do not go for any reason!! read more

Member for more than ten years, joined back when the club was Fitness First. I was on autopay, and a $79 annual fee was added on my account in 2023, which I just discovered. Disappointing. The location and equipment are OK aside from some occasional cleanliness issues in the men's facilities. I've submitted my cancellation. When shopping for a fitness plan, make sure you factor the "annual fee" into your price comparison. read more

Gym needs renovations. Leaking spellings, poor air circulation, high humidity. BUT, cherry on the top was responce from the management after solicited feedback. Gold's Gym Olney is the worst!! I have had a membership for 17 years, and last Fall put membership on hold. Today I received collection agency letter for almost $500 because my membership was never put on hold as promised as requested by me last year! after calling the gym the mgr. Ann claimed she was unable to remove the charges to fix the problem. Avoid this place is my advice, I'm considering going to the new Olney gym on Georgia Ave. read more

I cancelled my membership at the beginning of the pandemic. Months later, I noticed that my bank account was still being charged for the membership. I called to find out what the issue was, and to get a refund. They told me no one cancelled my account. So, I asked that it be cancelled again. I was told that a manager would call me back. No manager called, but my account stopped getting charged. So, I figured the issue was sorted out. However, just now, I opened a letter notifying me that my account has been sent to collections for my past-due obligations. Unbelievable. read more

I had a membership at the Layhill Shopping Center Golds Gym, and they sent me a letter saying it's going to close in one week. The alternative location is way too far. But they want to charge me $114 cancellation fee even though it's their fault I'll probably wait it out for another six months or so until the early cancellation fee drops which I really shouldn't have to pay because it's not my fault. Been dealing with Golds Gym since 2002 and never had it, an uncomplicated experience. everything with them is completely one-sided. Zero consideration for the customer. read more

As a competitor moved in across the street, I can see why people may have wanted to migrate to something new and shiny, but Gold's in Olney has everything I need, with regard to weights and equipment. The staff is very friendly and the gym is sparkling clean. The clientele at the competitor is a bit younger (more local high school and college students), where as Gold's Olney has an older crowd, including the die hard Gold's Gym member, who is into their lifting. For me, the tipping point in choosing Gold's Olney over the competitor was there is sooo much natural light, where the competitor is dark, with no natural light. read more

Predatory tactics!!!! I experienced several serious issues with their service at this gym. 1st major issue is that they continue to charge my card after I cancelled my Gold's fit membership. I had a major health issue in February in which I was hospitalized for that issue. I initially called the gym and requested for a temporary hold and they informed me that they cannot hold it unless I come in person with a doctors note and then they would honor the hold. No exceptions. Over the next several months, I was in and out of the hospital as well as taking care of my mother that has MS and cannot make it to golds. During that period, I spoke with a manager but no exception was made. Please note that every other gym such as Sports and Health, LA Fitness and several other Bootcamps honor holds by phone. This Gold is the only one that has this policy. On 05/31/2018, I went into the Olney Gym in person per their policy initially to place a hold then decided to cancel my Gold's fit membership/ account. I cancelled this account because they ignored all my request for the holds. In addition to that, on 05/31/2018 they charged me for the June service and refused to refund me. Even though I had a doctors note that stated that I just had surgery & was unable to exercise. Needless to say, the manager was completely unhelpful and no action was taken nor did she honor my request to speak with the general manager. No follow up by any management was provided. So I filled out the cancellation papers and left. I also tried calling corporate but was not successful plus I was in a lot pain due to the surgery during that period. Fast forward to 09/25/2018, Gold's charged my account for the Golds fit which is completely unauthorized. The last Gold's fit class I attended was in 2017. read more

Very upset with the way this gym has been run throughout the pandemic. It has taken me 3 months to get an"partial" resolution to the question of freezing the account until the gym was safer to go to. They have been continually charging me for the monthly dues even though I have repeatedly called and had been assured it was frozen. I've decided to cancel my membership. Finally after 3 calls today I spoke to a manager who said email her with cancellation and she will take care of it. We will see. I would NOT recommend this place for that reason and for the 20 years I went there the place was a dog track. Dirty, smelly and broken machines. read more

Really not professional, they charge me over and over , and I am not there member , when I speak with Maneger Deshawn larrimore, she told me to email my billing statement, I send to her she say she is not handling billing deferments , and she hanged up the phone, how disrespectful she is she don't fix the problem , top off it she hang up the phone , oh we don't know about billing process, so who is gone give my money back , that's why , I am going with law enforcement, nobody should join this gym , if they don't control people issues, really upset me , charge me over and over , really bad service, read more

I canceled my membership last year bc I have medical conditions that prevent me from using the gym. I had paid in advance $600 for a personal trainer which I could not use due to me canceling my membership. I appealed to the corporate office for this area and spoke with "Ray" who denied my request. He finally said that if I had a doctor's note that said that I couldn't use the gym (and hence my trainet) he would CONSIDER my request My doctor did write a non-specific note saying I couldn't use the gym and bc of HIPPA declined to say anything specific about my health I am now out $600 due to Gold's disreputable practice. I just started at the gym and so far so good. It has almost everything that I need- it has a few options for some of the major lifts that I use and it has a lot more dumbbells than I usually see at a gym which is a plus. Everyone so far seems really nice. Very rare to wait to use anything at around 5pm, though sometimes I go in the morning. There are also plenty of cardio options, including stair masters and ellipticals. Those machines have been recently updated My only concern is the age of some of the weight machines- they seem old and they're squeaky read more

Great gym! Very grateful for this golds compared to the one in layhill! It's very clean and updated! I take the group classes and love the instructors! Sometimes you hit a bad one but you just make sure not to take their class ever again. The clientele in the classes is a lot of older ladies but overall they're nice. I've had a few times where they are very territorial about their "spots" but other than that I'm a fan. I do wish that they didn't keep the classrooms so cold, I love to sweat - but a lot of people don't I guess? Who knew? So the above reasons are why I'm not giving it a perfect five stars. read more

I absolutely love the gym facility and services offered at this gym. Like most Gold's, this gym offers classes at all times of the day. I personally loved the kickboxing classes and the Saturday morning yoga classes. Depending on the time of your visit, the gym is fairly easy to navigate and not overly busy. What makes this gym unique to me is the accessibility to ropes and the sled to train with. Despite all of the great qualities this gym has, I have to give it a low rating for one reason: management. During my year and a half at Golds, I had 2 separate instances of management miscommunication which resulted in me losing money and being SEVERELY inconvenienced. Though management tries to help with issues, they are not as well versed in the rules and regulations of the corporate office as it may seem. BE CAREFUL. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. CALL CORPORATE. The employees of Golds will happily tell you an answer to your question which may be 100% wrong. You may also receive different answers when speaking to different people. When it comes down to it, though they told you something different, corporate will penalize you. Because of my horrendous experience with corporate and management I have to give them a 2. I recommend that you make sure to read through ALL the paperwork in depth and speak to the general manager or corporate if questions arise. Otherwise you may lose out on a great fitness experience. read more

It's VERY OUTDATED. so I just wanted to try it this location see if there was any difference and I think I'd rather stay at the one I signed up on. Upon walking in its very cluttered with stuff. I am writing this as a warning for anybody thinking of joining a Golds Gym or even if you already are a member and will be cancelling your membership. My dilemma started when I joined and than decided to cancel a few months later. First I went online to see if I could cancel and determined I needed to go back to the gym and receive a cancelation form from the front desk (this should have been my first warning- why not just have a copy online?), so I do this and I take the form home to fill out, as I did not have the time to do it when I retrieved the form at the gym. I had my wife drop the form off as she was remaining a member. At this point I think I'm done, but was I wrong to assume this. I keep an eye on my banking transactions and there it was- another monthly billing from Golds Gym. So I call the gym and I'm directed to leave a message for the manager, who was not in, but who also never called me back. A week or so later I call again and I'm given the same instructions (ah-ha number two). I was also given the email address of the assistant general manager whom I did email and finally I did get a response. This AGM started by asking my when, where and how- and I responded with the dates, place and logic, but this didn't seem to satisfy the continued indifference I was getting to my issue. The last correspondence I received from the AGM was he would talk to the Manager and I would hear back from him the next day, that was two weeks ago. I guess what got me to this point where I'm voicing my concerns online is I just saw another payment deducted from my bank account. Even after days of talking with this AGM and half a dozen emails he couldn't (or I expect wouldn't) put a stop to any further billings. But this doesn't really surprise me as if you look at the majority of reviews they will express pretty much the same issue as I now find myself in with Golds Gym, and that is they will not stop billing you- even if you follow their rules regarding the cancellation of a membership. They will not win. I was just hoping to avoid having to do an unauthorized bank transaction to get the money back. As I do most of my purchases with my bank card, but I guess for a little while cash is king. So be warned!!! Golds Gym is not the only gym out there but they are the one that will try to steal your money. read more

its such a big gym, and I love that about this gym. The parking lot is huge and there is never a lack of space to park. I think its time for them to upgrade on their thread mills and the row machines. Sometimes it takes me forever to press buttons to start the machines and its soo annoying. I also think its super hot and stuffy. On hot days its hot inside, on cold days the AC seems to be on blast. Overall, its a nice gym for such a great location. read more

For the price, its not too bad.... It does get crowded at times and it can take a while for some of the cardio equipment to get serviced. It would be a lot better if they allowed members to use the "Gold`s Fit" area when there are no classes because that room has a lot of the nicer dumbbells and kettlebells. read more

I only go to this gym because it is convenient to my home and work. I am assuming that is the only reason anyone would go here...it is dusty and dirty with carpet in the cardio area...I am sure it is full of nasty germs. There is no area to stretch at all..all over the nasty carpet... Awhile ago they took away the nicer treds with TVs and replaced with treds with no TVs that are now half broken as well. They put up 10 TVs and only 3 work and you cannot log into hear the audio like they say you can...the WiFi is also frequently out of service. The equipment is always broken and they have people "cleaning" the gym in the middle of a Saturday or at busy hours during the week..there is no way you can actually clean that way! Every other gym I have been to has cleaning come late at night or even after hours! Start with removing the carpet and getting new equipment instead of repainting already painted walls and catering to Golds Fit... I don't recommend this gym unless you have to. At least the people that work there are nice at the front desk...I have no experience with the trainers but they seem nice as well. read more

I never usually comment or review but this one deserves it- New Front desk girl is the greatest every time I've come in she has the best energy, saw her helping someone find their phone when they were panicking thinking it got stolen and she handled it perfectly and actually found their phone for them. Also helped me change the TV to watch the game and was very friendly and willing to look through all the channels as well as connecting my audio and it made my night. The new treadmills are NOT CD Player friendly. I tried placing my CD player on one of the shelves and after 5 minutes it fell off and shattered on the floor. Now I'm out a CD player because some idiot thought they'd buy the "newest" treadmills without thinking how they might accomodate everyone. I've also notice there is no "Contact Us" option on the website anymore or any suggestion box in the gyms themselves. Obviously serving the patrons and making things convenient for us all is just too difficult a task . read more

Everything in this gym is as old as the city it self. It looks like it was never went under any renovation. Beside that nothing is working. I also like the fact that in all the 15 + years that I have been coming here, I have never had to wait for any cardio or weight equipment!!! I do not recommend the Gold's gym in Olney. The management of the gym does not care about you or your health. They only care about one thing--the money they can make from you. The attitude of the management of the trainers is that if you don't like it here--find another gym. They do not work on positive solutions to problems that THEY create. Their attitude is: We don't need your business. It's their way-- or the highway. Management's philosophy is: The trainer is always right and can do no wrong, and the paying customer is always wrong. I know that the trainers are poorly paid because a trainer complained to me about their pay during my training session. A few of the trainers are unprofessional and emotional and display their anger with the clientele in the gym. This is apparently acceptable behavior to the gym. The gym charged a prior credit card that did not work because that card was closed. Have no idea how that happened. Rather than try to resolve the situation, (which I had to do) my trainer blamed me for not having my credit card up to date (which was not true) and she refused to train me and yelled at me at the top of her lungs and told me to call corporate. She did not gave me a reason why she would not trained me at the time. But when I asked her later, she said it was because she thought I would be angry at her and she didn't want to hear it while I was working out. When I explained the entire situation that happened with this trainer to her boss, he totally supported her. Needless to say, I did not continue training with this lady. Unbelievable. When I was sick with the flu and told the trainer I wasn't feeling well the evening before my workout, she told me that I would be charged if I did not come in (this was on a Sunday night). So, I came to the gym sick on Monday. I wonder how many other patrons are coming to the gym sick because they don't want to be charged for not coming in. I was belittled, intimidated, and given a hard time for missing a couple sessions for medical reasons (since they are not getting paid). Be prepared --your trainer may use your paid session time to chew you out (while not training you during this time) for missing sessions for valid medical reasons. I have given the management of the trainers ample opportunity to try to correct these situations, but he disregards any facts regarding any conflict, insinuates that I was the one at fault, and always favors his poorly paid trainers. He said my feelings about how I have been treated are not facts, yet I have met many others in the gym who have experienced problems that have failed to be resolved in a positive manner. They train you--just enough to keep you strung along, too. A trainer actually admitted this to me. I see this place as a real training opportunity. It could thrive under the right management. Having said all this, I do have a good trainer now who is young now, but unfortunately she is being misguided by the poor management there. When I called a gym in Columbia yesterday and expressed my comments about Gold's, she said, "you're the one I spoke with earlier today right?" I said no--that this was my first time calling. She said she had received several complaints "expressing your sentiments" about Gold's gym this past week. read more

It's a pretty terrible gym. A lot of the time the machines I want are unavailable. And they're class schedule is pretty basic. I also have issues with the sauna. The staff for the most part are rude and the trainers see no issue with walking up to your equipment and just taking it but I usually don't need the staff for anything and the trainers are too expensive anyway.
