I had some lower back issues developing and knew that exercising would help greatly. I had heard things both good and bad about CrossFit over the years and didn't quite know what to expect. Immediately Brandon put my mind at ease during orientation. All of the coaches really care, and they pay special attention if anyone has any injuries. They help modify any workout to make sure you grow in strength but keep sound mechanics the entire time. This is not a CrossFit gym where everything is hyper competitive and injuries abound. Rather, this is a gym where you will get stronger, enjoy camaraderie with others, and be encouraged to compare to your past performance not others. CrossFit Heath has turned out to be a real blessing in my life and I'm super thankful to have found it when I did.

A friend suggested CrossFit Heath and I decided to give it a try. I heard a lot of negative feedback about CrossFit being too competitive and prone to injury... My experience is very different - The staff is Super Professional, the emphasis is on mechanics and correct movement and they will really not push you (or allow you) to go past your technical skills. The groups are small (5-12 people in a class) so it is basically a private training. In my 3-4 months at the GYM I don't think I've yet to do the same exercise twice, each day is different. The community is awesome, and if you don't come in too many days I a row, you will likely to get a friendly call from a coach or member. Bottom line, I cannot recommend this gym more! This is the first time in my life I am happy to go 3-4 times a week and I honestly miss it if I dont.

They are all certified and really understand how to help each person do the best they can without pushing beyond what is safe. I have never been as fit as I am today and I am more motivated than I was the first day I walked in the door. Today, just about every workout facility follows a Crossfit type program, functional fitness, interval training etc. The difference with Crossfit and especially Crossfit Rockwall is the community. The people at CFR are fantastic, very supportive and make it something you look forward to. If you are looking for a place that will really make a difference in your fitness, this is it. I've worked out at a couple boxes since then and have dropped-in on boxes in various cities. Three years later, Crossfit Rockwall is still the standard that I compare other boxes to. The founders, Mary and Mike, are passionate about CrossFit and committed to helping people improve their fitness and health. I have yet to meet a CrossFit coach with more CrossFit certifications than Mary! She is very knowledgeable and encouraging. Before I started the Elements classes here, I would have never stepped into a gym. But shortly after, I was quickly hooked. The coaches eased me into the workouts as I had not exercised since high school! They were super encouraging and never compromised on proper technique and good form. I'm thankful to have started CrossFit here because they gave me a solid foundation in all the skills. CrossFit Rockwall is run professionally and aims to be suitable for everyone, regardless of age, gender, health, or fitness background. All the workouts are scalable to your level. They are different from other CrossFit boxes in that almost all of their workouts are written out in three levels: RX'd (for prime CrossFitters), intermediate, and beginner. All three levels practice the same skills but the repetitions and weights vary. The coaches also care about your safety; while they will encourage you to push yourself, there's no expectation to be extremely hard core. I appreciated this because that's not me. The gym membership costs more than a typical gym but less than personal training. It's like personal training in a group setting. I think the cost is completely worth it, and if I find myself in the Dallas area again, I would join up again immediately! The gym is clean and well-organized. There are no mirrors; or better yet, there are no guys doing bicep curls while admiring themselves in front of mirrors.

It feels like they continue adding new members even though the gym is already packed no matter the day or time you go. It can make workouts frustrating and difficult to fully enjoy. One thing I also didn't appreciate was the constant news channels playing in the cardio room. Many people go to the gym to de-stress and take a break from world events, so having news on all the TVs takes away from that atmosphere. Most gyms usually play sports or music instead. If news channels are going to be shown, it would be better to include a variety of viewpoints rather than only one-sided coverage. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving the gym for several reasons. Another frustrating experience was the cancellation process. Even after going in person and signing the cancellation paperwork, my card continued to be charged, and it was not easy getting the membership properly canceled.

They've also recently changed the layout to accommodate for the different types of workouts. I've been a member of the YMCA, 24 hour fitness and Planet Fitness and this location offers ample floor space for ppl to simply stretch and/or do core workouts in lieu of having to navigate around equipment and/or infringing on a class like at the Y. I value things like that. They also offer different variations of leg, core, upper body strength training equipment so you don't have to constantly wait for machines like I've found at other locations. Now this may happen from time to time during peak hours but Ive found that the mornings it is a good crowd but not overwhelming. Women's locker area and bathrooms are clean. I wish they had saunas but there's not much more I would change, especially at this great price point! I did take off a point because outside of the app and/or occasional notes on the door, there's been times the gym has closed for emergencies which is an inconvenience when I'm not notified. Wish there was something they could send through the app??? In any case, I like PF and would recommend them.

Given that I had already paid $10 per month for over a year for a service I was unable to use, I reached out to request a refund or some form of consideration. Unfortunately, they were unwilling to help in any way. When I called the local location, I only received what felt like a scripted response rather than a genuine attempt to resolve the situation. If and when my health improves, I'm honestly not sure I'd feel comfortable providing them my account information again.

I had to go in to "sign my paper work" in order to cancel my membership and ended up leaving without a resolution. She then decided to called me afterward to 'be nice'--but honestly, it came off as forced and insincere. It only took about 15 seconds for her facade to wear off during that call. Aside from today's communication, I've had multiple interactions with her over the phone, and each time she was just as dismissive and unpleasant. Customer service is key, and unfortunately, Natalie completely failed in this regard. I won't be returning. Stacy, the owner, on the other hand was able to help rectify my situation.

While there, she was met by one of their female representatives who told her that "She was in luck as they were currently promoting a zero cost trial membership." My daughter explained that although that seems like a great deal, she would soon be leaving to start college and that a membership wouldn't be appropriate. Again the woman told her that there was absolutely no obligation and that she could take advantage of this deal until she had to leave. Feeling like it would be a great way to spend time with her good friend before they split up for their separate colleges, she finally relinquished to the sales pitch and agreed to sign up. Imagine her surprise that when 2 months later, she had a charge of $258.00 from Hotworx for a $60 sign up fee, and 2 months membership dues at $99.00/month. She immediately called to find out why she had been charged and was told that she "should have read the contract before signing it". A classic bait and switch taking advantage of a inexperienced and trusting (naive) young girl. To their credit, they did (eventually) refund $198 for the 2 months membership, but as of yet have refused to return the $60 sign up fee. Honestly, $60.00 to learn a valuable lesson about dishonest and predatory business practices is a bargain in my opinion, but it still doesn't excuse the deplorable behavior that this business has displayed. My only hope that this review will serve as a warning to others and possibly help to prevent someone else from being taken advantage of.
