My husband and I have been working out at Crossfit Rockwall since 2011. It was one of the greatest…read moredecisions we ever made. The workouts are intense but scaled to each individual so everyone can do a Crossfit workout. The coaches at CFR are fantastic. They are all certified and really understand how to help each person do the best they can without pushing beyond what is safe. I have never been as fit as I am today and I am more motivated than I was the first day I walked in the door. Today, just about every workout facility follows a Crossfit type program, functional fitness, interval training etc. The difference with Crossfit and especially Crossfit Rockwall is the community. The people at CFR are fantastic, very supportive and make it something you look forward to. If you are looking for a place that will really make a difference in your fitness, this is it. They have free workouts two times a month. Come and give it a try.

I started working out at Crossfit Rockwall soon after it opened in 2009. I was there for about half…read morea year before I had to move away. I've worked out at a couple boxes since then and have dropped-in on boxes in various cities. Three years later, Crossfit Rockwall is still the standard that I compare other boxes to. The founders, Mary and Mike, are passionate about CrossFit and committed to helping people improve their fitness and health. I have yet to meet a CrossFit coach with more CrossFit certifications than Mary! She is very knowledgeable and encouraging. Before I started the Elements classes here, I would have never stepped into a gym. But shortly after, I was quickly hooked. The coaches eased me into the workouts as I had not exercised since high school! They were super encouraging and never compromised on proper technique and good form. I'm thankful to have started CrossFit here because they gave me a solid foundation in all the skills. CrossFit Rockwall is run professionally and aims to be suitable for everyone, regardless of age, gender, health, or fitness background. All the workouts are scalable to your level. They are different from other CrossFit boxes in that almost all of their workouts are written out in three levels: RX'd (for prime CrossFitters), intermediate, and beginner. All three levels practice the same skills but the repetitions and weights vary. The coaches also care about your safety; while they will encourage you to push yourself, there's no expectation to be extremely hard core. I appreciated this because that's not me. The gym membership costs more than a typical gym but less than personal training. It's like personal training in a group setting. I think the cost is completely worth it, and if I find myself in the Dallas area again, I would join up again immediately! The gym is clean and well-organized. There are no mirrors; or better yet, there are no guys doing bicep curls while admiring themselves in front of mirrors.

I've had a Planet Fitness membership for a year for each member of my family. 2 Black card and 1…read moreregular membership. I called Saturday to inquire about canceling. My son is going to university in 2 weeks and I don't use this gym. I was told to come in. Today, I went to Planet Membership. Had no trouble canceling, but they charged 2 annual membership fees - and those posted today. So I'm out 106.++. I think that's crappy. No offer to refund. My company pays for my gym memberships, so I'll submit for reimbursement, but they shouldn't have to pay either. I had only planned to cancel 2 of 3 of our memberships, but this made me mad, so I canceled the third membership too and called my wife to tell her I'll pay for any other fitness club she wants and proceeded to advise her that we were charged for the annual fees today. As I was leaving, another man was on his way in and overheard me talking to my wife. He said he is dealing with the same thing. If a company operating can't be ethical, then not only will I not go there, but I will advise anyone else of my experience. Beware.

I digress, this gym is much smaller than the others and gets pretty busy on the weekends so I constantly feel like a trapped sardine. I haven't tried the showers yet so I'm not sure if they lack hot water like the others, but this place is new and clean, so I'm not mad at that at all! I really do hope I don't eat my words!
