Small group weight training is top notch, with tailored workouts for to meet your physical (and arguably mental) health needs. Trainers are unbelievably competent and supportive! I have significant health concerns, and I truly believe that this gym is part of the reason I stay well. I had done exercise programs on and off (mostly off) over the years. I knew how important exercise was but I hated it. It was either boring, or it wasn't convenient, or it was hard to stay motivated. Today, I have never felt stronger or more confident. In fact, to my huge surprise, when my job was causing serious stress, all I could think was, "I NEED a workout today." I have never said that in my life! The coaches at UA are top-notch professionals. They take their work seriously, celebrate with you, and are encouraging. I look forward to seeing the coaches -- they are energetic, friendly, supportive, and have taught me a tremendous amount. This contributes greatly to me staying motivated to keep coming back and improving. Getting a new program each month also helps stave off the typical boredom of a "regular" gym. Something else that was unexpected but great nonetheless -- there is a wide variety among UA's members (age, gender, physical shape, natural ability, etc.). Although it's busy there's usually no to not too long of a wait for machines unless it's treadmills. Treadmills do get filled quickly and people use it for a long time so it might be nice to add a few extra and the abductor machine is popular but there is only one. Other than that it's been a good gym experience and the teachers at some of the classes I've been to have been good as well!

The owners have gone through instructors like a 90 minute class goes through wipes. They have come to the point where they are shipping in coaches from DC and MD. Where do I begin? You walk in and the front desk is too busy talking about what's in their milkshake to greet you. Then you're waiting around a cluttered lobby with two piles of lost and found. The decorations from Christmas are still up. They have 39 spots for the class but only 4 coat hooks. The water fountain spits out warm water which tastes like it was run through the gym shorts of the previous class. Suggestion, it might be time to clean out those pipes! The class itself is a popularity contest. The regulars (people who suck up to the coaches and assume they can bully other class members) like to talk at a decibel higher than the music to update each other on which pre school is the best, which Range Rover car salesman has the hots for them and which "Starbies" they are going to after class. The workouts have gotten more repetitive and the music sucks. Please avoid and wait till the next fad gym comes through.

The coaches demo each exercise and give us individual help if needed. They push us, but it's always within our capability. They have us cheer for our fellow classmates and keep the vibe friendly and supportive. I like how it's never the same workout twice, it's only one hour, and how I can sign up for classes at different times and days each week to fit my changing schedule. I'm middle age and out of shape, but Oakton Strength is helping me to fix the out of shape part. I really like the smaller classes, where you can rely upon the instructor to be paying attention to all and correcting when needed (I'm new - I need guidance). I recently had a very concerning experience after leaving an honest negative review. Mr. Love called me directly, and instead of addressing my concerns professionally, he was dismissive and made me feel guilty for speaking up. During that conversation, I explained ongoing issues: limited access to equipment due to overcrowding and frequent classes, the steam room often being closed without any posted cleaning schedule, and staff behavior that can feel rude and unwelcoming. None of these concerns were taken seriously. A week ago, I experienced another incident. As I entered the steam room with three other members, we were abruptly told to leave because it was being cleaned. There was no prior notice or posted schedule, and the staff member handled the situation in a very rude and inconsiderate way, despite the fact that we were already undressed and ready to use the facility. Following this, I spoke with a manager, Beth Douglas, to share my concerns. From the beginning, she labeled me as "agitated" and "difficult," which was both unprofessional and dismissive. I was not even offered a seat during the conversation while both she and the maintenance manager remained seated, which made the interaction feel uncomfortable and disrespectful. Instead of addressing the issue, I was told to consider finding another gym. After informing them that I was recording the conversation (due to being labeled unfairly), my membership was terminated. I also attempted to contact corporate to escalate these concerns but was unsuccessful. After reading other reviews, it appears that similar complaints about management and staff behavior have been raised by others, with little to no action taken. It is disappointing that a gym at this price point fails to provide not only consistent access to amenities but also basic customer respect. A gym should be a welcoming place that supports well-being and stress relief, not one that creates additional frustration. I cannot recommend this location based on my experience.

I've been here ever since over a year now! I came in knowing nothing, but working one-on-one with Coach Zach helped me build a solid foundation and grasp the fundamentals of BJJ and MMA. The personal sessions also helped me fast forward my progress and discover who I was in my training. I'm incredibly grateful for all the coaches Zach, Wyatt, and Calvin for everything they've taught me. Their coaching styles are consistently encouraging, patient, and intentional. You can tell that they have poured out a lot into the students here by the way they remember your progress, push you with care, and treat every small win like it matters. They really care.
