I have been a member of this gym for several years, but unfortunately, the quality of management has significantly declined under Mr. Love. I recently had a very concerning experience after leaving an honest negative review. Mr. Love called me directly, and instead of addressing my concerns professionally, he was dismissive and made me feel guilty for speaking up. During that conversation, I explained ongoing issues: limited access to equipment due to overcrowding and frequent classes, the steam room often being closed without any posted cleaning schedule, and staff behavior that can feel rude and unwelcoming. None of these concerns were taken seriously. A week ago, I experienced another incident. As I entered the steam room with three other members, we were abruptly told to leave because it was being cleaned. There was no prior notice or posted schedule, and the staff member handled the situation in a very rude and inconsiderate way, despite the fact that we were already undressed and ready to use the facility. Following this, I spoke with a manager, Beth Douglas, to share my concerns. From the beginning, she labeled me as "agitated" and "difficult," which was both unprofessional and dismissive. I was not even offered a seat during the conversation while both she and the maintenance manager remained seated, which made the interaction feel uncomfortable and disrespectful. Instead of addressing the issue, I was told to consider finding another gym. After informing them that I was recording the conversation (due to being labeled unfairly), my membership was terminated. I also attempted to contact corporate to escalate these concerns but was unsuccessful. After reading other reviews, it appears that similar complaints about management and staff behavior have been raised by others, with little to no action taken. It is disappointing that a gym at this price point fails to provide not only consistent access to amenities but also basic customer respect. A gym should be a welcoming place that supports well-being and stress relief, not one that creates additional frustration. I cannot recommend this location based on my experience. read more

I've been a member since 2009 and I honestly have to leave a one star review for the decline in this gym. 3 months ago, Robbie Love, the worst manager ever, raised my rates after I complained about male workers coming into the women's locker room. And now corporate has raised my rates again. And for what?!?!! Nothing. Plus I signed up for their spring program. It turned out to be an over priced scam. And to get into half the classes, they charge extra and even charge extra for the pickleball court which used to be a basketball court that everyone could enjoy! A phenomenal gym and an even better recreational facility. The staff is very friendly and it seems like they genuinely care. Alec and Maan are amazing trainers here. Every time I see them they stop for a quick "whats up man?" And I appreciate that a lot. Alec helped me understand my body composition as well as give me tons of knowledge about lifting. He loves the craft so much that he took time out of his workout and day to help me and my friends get our BMI tested. After that he shared scientifically proven methods to improving our health and physique. I have been a member of this gym since 2008. It was more than just a fitness center -- it offered a wide variety of classes, excellent instructors, and a real sense of community among members. Unfortunately, things have been steadily declining since 2020. Many of the affordable classes have now been converted into "signature membership" classes, which require a more expensive plan. Skilled instructors who used to teach regular classes have been reassigned to signature classes, leaving the standard classes with less experienced instructors. It's clear that management is trying to push members toward the higher-priced memberships. What they fail to understand is that this club is located in an area where the median income is much lower than places like Reston, Ashburn, or Arlington. The new management, since 2020, seems more focused on maximizing profits than on offering accessible and affordable services to long-term members. One of the most disappointing recent changes was the removal of indoor spin classes, which were extremely popular and provided a great low-impact workout, especially for those with knee or hip issues. These have now been replaced with signature-only options. As a result, regular members are left with two choices -- pay more or find another gym. Sadly, I will be one of those leaving, as the rising costs are no longer sustainable. Without the quality classes that once set it apart, this gym has become no different from other low-cost fitness centers -- except with higher prices. The signature membership classes don't even offer a more challenging or beneficial experience; they seem to exist purely as a money-making strategy rather than to serve the members' fitness needs. read more

You have someone like Aliya at the front desk whom multiple members have complained about being extremely unprofessional and immature. Put people behind the desk that understand customer service and experience not someone who behaves like a little girl who is bitter she hasn't worked her way up the corporate chain in all these years. This club has amazing instructors but ever since the new manager has taken over the whole focus on the unique Centreville community that made this place special has vanished. He continues to make decisions like removing the very popular cycle class that long time members have come to love and which is perfect for a slightly older working crowd that needs a quick way to get high intensity cardio before and after work. And charging a $1.50 for some ice, even if we have our own cup. It's a real shame. read more

I've been going to Lifetime since the Centreville location first opened -- my parents added me to their membership when I was under 18 (a long time ago). We were among the very first to sign up, and I've continued my membership ever since. Now in my 30s with a child of my own, I've remained loyal to Lifetime... but unfortunately, I'm incredibly disappointed in how things have changed. Over the years, my rates have continued to increase, even though I was told when I joined that I'd be grandfathered in due to our early membership. That promise has clearly not been honored, and the lack of consistency is frustrating. The most upsetting part of my recent experience was being told by the general manager that giving my 10 year old son basic swimming tips in the pool is considered "coaching" and a violation of club policy. I wasn't giving formal lessons -- just a parent helping their child feel more confident in the water. The way this was communicated to me was condescending and unnecessary. I was told that even my boyfriend showing me how to use certain gym equipment could be seen as coaching and would also violate policy. Frankly, that's absurd. We are all paying members, and the idea that helping each other -- especially family -- is somehow against the rules makes the environment feel cold and unwelcoming. My elderly mother also sometimes needs help because she started using the machines when before she was just an avid swimmer. Is that not allowed too? Then when I said I had brought my son since he was a baby and taught him how to kick/put his head in the water - he said I was taking his enforcing the policies the wrong way because I had become accustomed to breaking the rules. Lifetime used to feel like a community. A place where families and individuals could work on their health together and a place we could bring our families. Now it feels more like a strict, corporate-run facility with staff that seem more focused on enforcing rigid policies than creating a positive member experience. It's really disappointing to see how the vibe and culture have changed over time. I hope Lifetime reconsiders how they're managing these interactions, especially with long-time members who have supported them from day one. After being a member for over 20 years the gym and their manager Robbie Love showed no love to our cycle community. We were consistently the top 10 class in the country but Centreville with little notice dismantled the spin class. Mr. Love took away a community that had built a strong foundation. The spin class raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for lifetime sponsored charities over the years. Mr. Love determined that he did not like the class and did nothing to help find a solution to keep the class. Instead he cut the classes and raised the dues for membership. Over the last few years the dues have steadily increased. We complained but kept coming back to support our spin class and spin instructors (who are the best in the business) But lifetime Centreville and Robbie Love don't care about community or older clients. They just want to find ways to make people pay more. They take away the classes that come with membership and force people to not only pay a membership fee but now pay for additional classes. Don't let them fool you Lifetime does not care about its membership. They see you as a dollar sign. read more

Worst gym in the Lifetime chain. The women's steam room smells like something I don't even want to think about. There were 3 showers out of service last time I was there. Every shower stall has knots of hair on the floor. I NEVER see anyone cleaning the locker room at all during business hours anymore. One of the toilets in the women's locker room has been out of service for over 5 months. The sauna was closed for what seemed like a week a couple of months ago. When I was stretching on the lower bench I noticed a screw head sticking out and it could potentially cut someone; hopefully y'all have had your tetanus shot. The free weight and machines area frequently runs out of sanitizing wipes. Towels are not as abundant as they used to be. I unfolded a towel with a hole in it. I can't believe an employee could have NOT seen the hole when they folded it and why would you put that out? The food the cafe serves is disgusting and greasy. I was starving so I ordered a pizza..worst ever! And the rest of the menu has zero healthy options. They should just call this gym Super Pickleball as it's the only area of the club that gets any attention. Management at LifeTime Centreville has completely closed the cycle studio classes/program - getting rid of the studio bikes, to be replaced with special "Signature Membership" classes. It's very upsetting to lose the BEST low impact group fitness class they *used* to offer here. Two other NoVa LifeTime locations will continue to offer cycle/spin classes, but not at Centreville - my home gym. (besides the fact that my Centreville membership does not give me access to those clubs unless I pay additional monthly fees). Overall, the instructors for all the classes that I take at Centreville are excellent! However, poor management decisions here at this location is the reason for my low rating. If they want to add another signature member class offering, why not just add it somewhere in the club and keep the cycle classes? Or move cycle to another room or something - anything?! I was taking all kinds of group fitness classes for several years before I started taking cycle classes, and they improved my cardio endurance dramatically. I'm sad to lose a class offering that I enjoyed so much. On top of all this, prices will be going up yet again this year. Disappointing to say the least! My wife has been a dedicated member of this gym for 16 years, and what I've witnessed recently is nothing short of betrayal to loyal members and extreme greed as Life Time has been engaging in non-stop price gouging. Her membership dues have increased from $89 in 2019 to $149 in 2023, over 67% in less than 4 years. 2.5 of those 4 years were during the pandemic. Time and time again, Life Time chooses to take advantage of its long-standing members, displaying a complete lack of loyalty and integrity and increasing dues using meaningless buzzwords like "refreshed spaces and enhanced programming" as an excuse to maximize their margins. Moreover, they frame their messaging of due increases to loyal members as a display of "appreciation" because it's a whopping $40 below the rate of new members. Ridiculous. This kind of greed is simply unacceptable and anyone considering this gym should think twice before becoming a member. read more

Lifetime fitness has improved significantly post pandemic. Pickleball has added new flavor to this club. Pool and changing rooms have improved. Staff is good but needs to work on their communication skills. It is a place full of alphas and the staff can be friendly and accommodating. Also, they should introduce ways to manage the crowd effectively (incentivize people to come during odd hours or tiered memberships) This would help manage the crowds effectively. read more

I have been a member of the Lifetime Fitness Centreville since 2019. The gym is old and relatively dirty as the male shower area has a foul smell. Part of the blame also goes to the members where I have seen people doing all kinds of things, coughing, sneezing in the steam and shower area, leaving the towel on the floor, cleaning their feet, and apply medicines while putting their etc. However, there has been a marked improvement after the new GM Robert Love joined. I find him to be extremely proactive, professional, and someone who really takes care of the gym. He is helpful and finds solutions as well as interacts with the members which I never experienced before. Since the gym is old and some issues persist because of that. Robert has tried to upgrade the gym area and the shower area very much. I really appreciate it. Frankly speaking, I have not switched the gym because of him and its proximity to my house. I'm so in love with this gym! I filled out an online form for a tour request and was able to tour the same day. The tour was so professional and l was able to meet a few of the staff who were so friendly and welcoming. The facilities are beautiful and incredibly clean. My daughter loves the children's area and looks forward to going with me. The class schedule has so many options in terms of both variety and scheduling. The staff and clientele are so warm and friendly. I only wish I had joined sooner. There is no commitment and just a thirty day notice is required to terminate. What's not to love?! I'm totally sold and look forward to getting back in shape at Lifetime! read more

I wouldn't really call this place a "gym" as it operates much more similar to a prison. Everything is always broken, the food is trash, the employees run the place like guards, and when you try to make a run for it they make it impossible to for you to cancel your membership and leave. This is literally the nicest gym I've ever been to. I literally want to pick my bags and move to Virginia just for this gym. Everything is super clean, there's a great variety of equipment. Tons of choices, I feel like even during rush hours you won't have to wait for the machines. There's also complimentary towels, staff is nice. There's a salon and barber on site. They offer classes and massages. There's two huge basketball courts. I can go on and on. All I can say is wow. This place is absolutely amazing. I'm visiting from San Diego, and I inquired about the day passes. They charge $30 for a day pass which I thought was a little steep, up until I worked out and saw all the different amenities that this gym has to offer. 100% worth it, as long as you go! read more

In the past we looked at other gyms just to compare and no others have come close to what Lifetime offers. I started working out with a personal trainer, Piya. I was amazed how quickly I experienced results. Within a couple of weeks my stamina and strength improved significantly. Within three months I experienced an astonishing transformation, shedding over 20 pounds and witnessing a drop in body fat from over 25 percent to an impressive less than 11 percent. Piya's expertise, dedication, and personalized approach have been nothing short of extraordinary. What truly sets Piya apart is her unwavering support and encouragement. She consistently motivates me to overcome obstacles and celebrate small victories along the way. Her positive attitude and genuine interest in my well-being creates a supportive and empowering environment, making each session enjoyable and rewarding. Was a member here up until Jan of 2021 as I was tired of paying full price for use of 30% of the gym when other gyms did not have the same restrictions on equipment and hours (Xsport was 24/7 and only closed their pool until mid last year). Looked into going back as it was closer and they are not only never going back to being open 24 hours but they are charging 40% MORE per month than they were last year lol. Yeah, no. Great gym at first when I started in 2019 with many amenities. After Covid, dues increased almost 2x for me. 24 hour business hours gone, basketball courts gone. Both a reason I signed up for the gym. If you don't already have a membership I would not start one here. Smells nasty in the shower. I had a membership at lifetime Reston which allowed me to go to this location which was perfect because it was close to work and family. Unfortunately, I was doing training sessions with a trainer(Diego) and he got too comfortable, in my opinion. When venting about my pet, he told me I should starve him or just dump him outside, and you would think this is a joke but he said this multiple times in detail. He spoke about how "all women want him" and I honestly didn't know what to say to that since he supposedly had a gf and a kid(he spoke about it almost every session) or he was extremely distracted by just looking at other women and not even tell me if i was doing something wrong or not. I had to make him focus on my workout. The final straw was when he told me there were too many Asians and he doesn't like the way they look at him or walk. Specifically said, "they just walk like penguins". I wondered why he felt so comfortable saying this to me, he said," weren't you born here?" and I'm not but even then I wouldn't ever think like that. After that comment, I immediately told the GM about it and which she showed immediate concern and brought in the Manager in charge of the trainers. They assured me they would handle the situation, when I asked about it they said they spoke with him and yes, he's still working there. I got a refund for the package I had recently purchased and almost no apology. Aside from that, I had problems with billing. They charged my fiancé almost double for training sessions and I had to get a refund about 3-4 times. I gave them my cash, and they would still charge the card. I gave them a new card and they still charged the wrong one. The first refund took about 2-3 weeks, and this was mostly because they kept forgetting, and I had to keep reminding them. The last refund I got, it took 2 days, that's how I know it was just forgotten. . I absolutely love Lifetime as a gym but I am extremely upset with this location. Mr. Love stated lifetime took into consideration the needs of the members when making the decision, yet nobody received a questionnaire, email asking for input. i personally asked 40 members and not one said they saw this coming. Your decision is a corporate decision. so you will not be honest with us and say as much. Since the email sent by Mr. Love your gym has been all but empty. i work out at night, normally your floor is packed till about 9 pm then 30-35 people in space till i depart. now you are lucky if there are 20 people in there at 8pm. tonight there were 15 as i walked out SAD. There is no need to talk to you, i already tried talking when you changed the childcare hours, that did not change a thing, neither will talking to you. before you give the come in and lets play a game of pickle ball, i was raised in WA you might wonder why is that relevant, its relevant because thats where pickle ball was invented. Nobody under the age of 50 played it, and we removed it from our P.E. programs due to lack of interest. But hey what does history know, spend all your money on 6 courts that if all are doubles you have 24 people playing. Corporate greed is all this is you are trying to money. read more

I've been a member of Lifetime Fitness for about a year - it's very conveniently located to where I live in Centreville. The place is very popular - there is almost always a crowd - the slowest times are on Friday evenings and weekends. If you get there and the treadmills are all full - wait a few minutes and a bunch will open up quickly. Tons of classes are offered here - from Yoga, aerobics, and all kinds of other stuff. There are Nautilus style weight machines, free weights, a stretching area, lifecycles, elipticals, stairmasters, and all kinds of other exercise machines. In the area where all of the cardio equipment is located - there are a row of large HD displays on the wall. Each one corresponds to an FM channel - so you can tune in to the audio for that TV channel while you are working out. It's amusing at times to watch certain individuals in the gym - some of them are clearly taken with themselves and strut and stalk around like they are trying to be noticed. Then there are a few Divas that come in dressed to the nines in expensive exercise gear, with lots of makeup on, hair done - and they get on the treadmill and take the slowest walk you've ever seen. God forbid you should actually work up a sweat and get some cardio benefit from your time in the gym! Downstairs there are Basketball courts, RacquetBall/Squash courts, swimming pools, steam room, sauna, and a climbing wall. There is also a child care facility where you can drop off your kids while you work out. The Men's locker room area is large with lots of lockers - but I will never use the shower there - it always has an unsavory musty smell. And for the record - there are a lot of guys out there who need to learn about proper grooming - like back waxes and the like! And to the old man I saw in the locker room a couple of weeks ago - NO!! - using a hair dryer to blow dry your pubic hair does not constitute proper grooming! Excuse me now as I pause to claw my eyeballs out! They also have a cafe/juice bar and a spa where you can go for haircuts, manicures/pedicures, and other spa services. read more

Coming from Onelife Fitness/ Sport & Health in Gainesville. This place pales in comparison in terms of having updated equipment. I've been going here regularly for a month now and I find myself getting frustrated with the old, worn out equipment. When the cost is so high, why can't they replace things with updated equipment? Some of the machines have loose cords-- how can anyone have a full extension with that? Also with COVID-19, staff has been great at cleaning and have set up stickers between machines to create space for social distancing. For some reason people don't understand the concept of NOT using the machines with stickers on them clearly stating it's meant for space. Quite a lot of people aren't even bothering to clean up after themselves. Not everyone wears a mask and they hover. Each day I find myself having to move away mid workout because no one understands the concept of space. read more

I love the bright, huge almost industrial atmosphere. Cheeriness of the staff. All the amenities: sauna, pool, and hot tub area. I love, love, love my favorite protein drink at the cafe and the 50% off entrees. I love that you don't need a lock in the locker room, you just use your membership card. I love that the machines always work, and the facility has clean towels and is always spotless. I enjoy all of the conditioning classes that are available. However, when if you have to cut back on monthly expenses, this is not your gym. I think it's about 60% over market. Con- I deducted a point for the flood of water near the halls of the shower. Equinox showers are better maintained. I hate walking in puddles on the way to take a shower-yuck. read more

I think it is shameful that this gym will offer corporate discounts but nothing for active duty military or veterans.

I had high hopes for this place, but had one of the worst experiences be ever had at a gym. It's fancy but incredibly expensive, with slimy billing practices. The gym itself is always way overcrowded, and management thinks it's reasonable to have every trainer set up their own boom box system on various ends of the weight room, which results in you getting bombarded with 3-4 different songs at the same time. It usually drowns out my own headphones. The bathrooms aren't horrible, but they're not maintained as well as other gyms that cost less than half the price. Also, few people in the weight room practice good gym etiquette. Nobody reracks weights, gives way to people carrying loads, ect. Just an overall bad experience. read more

Centralized management is ineffective. Now you cannot make a reservation for classes whose schedule partially overlaps. Previously this was possible. They put a lot of pressure on instructors to fill classes, yet the system does not allow them to get credit when I cannot reserve classes with overlapping schedules. read more

Wellness greetings! We've been members since 04' and LTF is a vital part of our health journey. Overall, solid community especially the quality classes Eg Sunday SOL Yoga and passionate instructors. Additionally, we're very appreciative for the kids center staff. The LTF kids team cares very much about our children. We'll always be grateful for their Love. I've had favorable interactions with the Life Cafe team as well. LTF Centreville = good people. I did see previous comments about locker room issues and odors. Yes, there are cultures who have a tendency to make spitting sounds in the showers or use public hair dryers on unsavory parts of the body. That's a tough one to tackle and requires continued LTF/customer engagement for a solution. My key input/quick win pertains to customer communication recommendations. Recommend seeing multiple forms of communications during pivotal renovations such as the pickle ball and swimming pool reconstruction. We request more transparency that's all. For instance, I would periodically call the front desk just to inquire and the timelines kept shifting. Totally understandable given how contractors find issues etc... The team indicated the pool completion would be around Christmas 23 then Winter 2024 and as Murphy's Law dictated; the timeline kept extending until mid April. LTF's customers are from diverse genres, cultures, and backgrounds and receive info various ways whether social media, post on the LTF APP, email, or hard copy signage in main entrance. Please leverage those opportunities to highlight those updates. But a tangible way to communicate it is literally the front desk entrance where signage is visible for the community.
