August had the hottest temperatures of the year, and my main circuit breaker decided to quit. I…read morecalled M.P. Baker, and several competitors, after reading several reviews about them and their competitors. M.P. Baker was the only company to return my call. Although they couldn't get an electrician in that day, Kyle was dispatched for the following morning. Kyle arrived wearing ppe, opened up the breaker box, and determined that the main circuit breaker needed to be replaced. Kyle called around for a replacement (apparently whoever rewired the house installed an oddball circuit breaker) but the closest location was in Indianapolis. I had the day off from work so I volunteered to go get it (plus it guaranteed we would have power that day). After I returned with the part, Kyle installed and tested it, in about an hour. The labor rate was reasonable and about what I expected. The circuit breaker ended up costing $400, twice what I expected. Would I use them again? Yes, although a bit pricey overall.

I'll preface my review by saying that good customer service is as important to me as getting a job…read moredone right. I had a post lamp in my front yard that had stopped working and found F C Electric here on yelp. My first red flag was when I called to schedule a service appointment, I was told they would have to check the schedule and see when they could fit me in, and that this couldn't be done while I waited on hold. I was called a couple days later saying they could fit me in, and could I please send them a picture of the light that wasn't working (without explaining why they needed a picture--I still don't know why they requested a picture). Asking for a picture did not inspire confidence. At the time of service, I received a phone call that they were on their way about 5 minutes before they showed up, which I appreciated the heads up. The truck was clearly marked as F C Electric, but the employees did not wear anything that identified them as such. There were two guys that seemed like they had some kind of joke going between them from the time I answered the door. Their behavior was immature and unprofessional. They diagnosed my problem and made a recommendation which I later implemented myself. They were at my house for less than 5 minutes. About a week after their visit, I received a text asking if my request had been handled, which I confirmed. Today I received an invoice for $127, which I thought was pretty steep for such a quick visit, including unprofessional demeanor. I asked one of the employees before he left how much the charge was, but he didn't know. I acknowledge I should have asked when I scheduled the appointment what their diagnosis fee was. I called Paul, the owner, to chat about the invoice and to share feedback about my experience. When I complained about the price and the unprofessional behavior of his staff, he became somewhat defensive instead of carefully listening to what I had to say. As a customer, it's never good to feel like the employees are valued over customers. I'm pretty sure the way most businesses work is that you have to have happy paying customers to succeed. To be fair, Paul did offer to delete the invoice, but I insisted to pay something and he said I could pay whatever I felt was right. I paid the full amount because it was mostly my fault for not asking how much the service visit would cost. The bottom line is that I will not go to F C Electric again when I have electrical needs and cannot recommend them.

F C Electric did an excellent job from start to finish. Communication was smooth and the end price was more than fair. The lowered score is due to the fact it took them 22 days to deposit out check. After 2 weeks I called and the stated it had been miss files and would go in the next day and it was still and additional week before it was done. I have the copy of the deposited check so I can clearly see it was dated 22 days later. This is very inconvenient, and the fact that I called and it still took a week makes me wonder what kind of billing system they have?

I personally know of at least a dozen customers that have lodged complaints because they needed someone to come fix problems caused by the personnel. These customers needed anywhere between 3- 6 extra visits to resolve the problem. One person had a water heater leak down into the ceiling of their kitchen. One person had an HVAC technician cut a large hole, he found out it was too large, and had to fashion a make shift plug for it to fit an air filter (who knows how long that will last) Overall, I recommend calling someone else. Rates are very high Service is slow and sub-par The VP of sales is a snake in the grass, and will lie his way into any sale he can make. The owner is one of the greatest skin flints of all time and has employees that have gone 5+ years without a single cent raise in pay... but he flies to Florida 5-6 times a year, drives a new Cadillac, and outfits his house with the latest and greatest... all while breaking the backs of his office staff to compensate for the union required yearly raises.
