"Summary" due to unusual review length:
We are very pleased with Hoppy Heating and Cooling. Hesli, their knowledgeable onsite Estimater and team were timely generating a reasonable quote for a challenging installation. They were professional and pleasant in all interactions, honored the initial quote to the penny, and the very timely installation is custom, effective and elegantly clean. We confidently recommend them for the services they provide. If you would like the background and other details, the saga is greatly expanded below for your information and entertainment.
A couple years ago our old furnace finally failed and it was replaced via insurance we had on major appliances as all were old.
When the furnace was removed the built-in humidifier was removed with it but was not replaced by insurance. At that time we heated primarily with firewood so it was not an immediate concern.
I planned to install one myself as I installed some (successfully longterm) in previous houses. However, due to my arthritis, reduced dexterity, strength and truthfully, motivation I decided to see what it would cost to have it done professionally. I had researched options so I knew what humidifier process versions and capacity options were available and what unit costs were. But it was not a real priority at the time compared to other life things happening simultaneously.
However, we eventually realized we were experiencing some physical problems due to our home's low humidity inside staying consistently in the low teens, I decided to contact Hoppy Heating and Air to come out and create a reliable estimate. We wanted it finished quickly and off my to-do list.
They were warned that there were no floor drains in the basement floor to drain a passive bypass humidifier system. However, I told them that the previous unit drained into a laundry tub. They sent Hesli, a knowledgeable technician out to do an initial survey of the situation which generated several potential options followed by an estimate.
I was quite impressed with their variety of actually viable options and then their final decision which has proven to work very well.
Their initial quote did not increase even though there was additional equipment involved with the final solution. They ordered the appropriately sized humidifier and scheduled installation the very next day. I was very pleasantly surprised at both getting the equipment that fast and their willingness to prioritize the installation.
Honoring their stated arrival time their technician Mike and an assistant-in-training had the unit installed, tested and running in a few hours even after modifying furnace ductwork and creating a new interface to exactly fit between the humidifier and the ductwork.
Initially skeptical that the previously described modifications would stick out inconveniently far into the furnace room, I decided to trust them and I went upstairs to stay out of their way, not be tempted to ask non-essential questions and hoped my fears would somehow not come true deciding I'd figure out what to do if my fears were founded. But, they weren't.
After some time they came up and said we are finished. I was quite surprised and still apprehensive so I went down to see their installation.
It was a wow experience! What I saw was an elegantly clean installation and all my fears of bumping my head on a humidifier sticking out too far were gone.
Then I got the invoice. With everything they had to do, it was the same exact amount they originally quoted with all the parts, labor and tax included.
I was and currently - after waiting a few weeks before writing a review - am still extremely pleased and will recommend the Hoppy company to anyone needing the kinds of work done that they do. I know this was an unusually long review, but it was an exceptionally good experience from its start through the invoice.
I hope this review helps you decide in favor of trusting them. I have no regrets and have a well-supported expectation that any issues in the future will be quickly, ethically and effectively resolved. read more
