F & S Williams - HVAC System replacement! Woohoo!

I would highly recommend F&S Williams to anyone in Lafayette or West Lafayette for there HVAC and Plumbing needs. They offer competitive prices and discounts for parts through there Preventive Maintenance Agreement. I trust them and they have always shown respect to my belongings.

I called F & S Wiliams at about 4pm and explained what was going on and they saif were going to send someone at night. I told them that wasnt necessary and I got a call from the technician the next morning and he was promptly at my house. Chris showed up and was professional and courteous. I explained him what i knew and what I had tried and he was able to run a few tests and diagnose that the system was freezing up. He explained to me the cost of refrigerant and offered to put that price in writing. I said that it was not necessary because F & S had been a good service for me 9 years ago when another company in town improperly installed my AC unit. Chris charged the system and encouraged questions. He stressed how important customer service is to him and his boss and any questions I had were not interfering with him. After the service was complete, he offered to bill me and I told him if I could use a card or check I could pay right now. He said card or check was acceptable and we settled up right there. It will be 95 degrees tomorrow outside but inside my house it will be a comfortable 68 degrees thanks, in part, to Chris and F & S Williams. I have used them before and if needed, I would not hesitate to use them again.

Be prepared for the up charge! I reached out to Summers for a basement project quote. Their…read moreinitial quote said that they would require at least a full day for the job. The price that was quoted seemed a bit high to start with and before I had an opportunity to discuss the absolute lack of details... literally the quote was the boat basic description and a price written onto a piece of paper and handed to me... They quickly pulled out their flip book of "added items" that they could provide me with. Laughably it included their own extended warranty... so if I pay the already high price I get a shorter warranty than if I agree to pay an even higher price? Additionally their extended warranty included "quicker appointment scheduling". So people that don't pay extra get to be ignored for longer? This whole process felt more like a shake down than anything else. Additionally the job was described in illusive and vague terms as to why the price was so high. Unfortunately for them, they never asked why I was calling them to begin with. I'm more than capable of doing the job myself but at the time I had other more pressing priorities and I needed this done for me. Ultimately I ended up calling another local plumber and he came out same day, completed the job in 3 hours, but a full day, and did it for 40% less without the hassle of trying to upsell his own work. He also said that he'd be happy to come back out if any issues came up in the next year at no cost. I am leaving this review as 3-star because I am giving them credit for being decent plumbers despite being miserable salesman. Leave the upselling for the fast food drive thru and restaurants. Quote and honest and competitive price and stand by your work.... do force people to pay more for what you should be doing anyways.

I'm extremely disappointed in Summers' service practices. On two separate occasions, servicemen…read moreadvised my older female relatives to replace or upgrade furnace and AC units that were less than ten years old and functioning properly. In both cases, the recommendations felt unnecessary and overly aggressive. This pattern is deeply concerning. It comes across as taking advantage of elderly customers who may not feel comfortable questioning a technician's claims or seeking a second opinion. No reputable company should be pushing costly upgrades without clear, verifiable justification--especially not to vulnerable customers. Shame on Summers for what appears to be predatory behavior. I would strongly urge anyone, particularly older homeowners and their families, to get a second opinion before agreeing to any major repairs or replacements recommended by this company.

I contacted Anderson Plumbing during the long holiday weekend and they were able to come out quickly on Tuesday morning. They used a camera to inspect the line and a hydro-jetter to clear the roots in just about an hour. Both of the technicians were very knowledgeable and helped answer my questions about preventative maintenance and more serious solutions going forward. In total it cost $550, but these are not tools you can buy or use on your own, so well worth the cost.

The plumber used shark bite style connectors, but didn't secure it to the structure of the house so it slopped around. The next call was to repair an upstairs shower drain. Two men showed up. I had already cut a small section of the ceiling below to assess what happened. The used a Wingtite Shower Drain Replacement, which installs entirely from the top. The older of the two then said there wasn't enough room to build a p-trap. He said he could do 1" pipe and it would fit between the floors. When he finished the p-trap was completely below the plane of the ceilings drywall. I told him this was unacceptable. He rebuilt it, but we still had to shave a significant amount of drywall from the ceiling patch. I would NOT recommend Anderson Plumbing

There was absolutely no mention that there would be a $95 fee to do this. Zero. We were not planning on having this project done in the next 30 days, so applying that to my project is meaningless. But also, I never would have agreed to it if told in advance, which is probably why they don't. Completely dishonest.

He also checked a clogged toilet, in a bathroom that I haven't been able to keep pristine. Then? He said he had to go to his truck to work up an estimate. After waiting on him for 25 minutes, I saw that he'd just GONE. I called HQ: they said he he'd called them, saying he 'FELT LIKE VOMITING'. OK, fair enough, I am disabled and can't keep the house as I'd like. but to just FLEE?? With not a WORD??? HQ guy said they're a new company, and still working on "customer relations' issues. He was embarrassed, and I am livid. All the guy had to do was tell me he was leaving, and why. I'd have understood, esp with the stinky cat box bathroom. But to just LEAVE without telling me?? NOT good customer relations, guys. And HQ not calling me to tell me he'd vanished, leaving me to look like a dork with a stinky bathroom? A stinky house? NOT GOOD. Not good at all.
