Clean Line Sewer Septic & Plumbing

Clean Line Sewer Septic & Plumbing

After calling four plumbing companies and one showing up he couldn't fix the problem. We called…read moreClean Line sewer & septic service and he got the problem fixed within a hour. He highly recommended them. Robert Pearson Danville

BE VERY CAREFUL HIRING CLEANLINE -- READ THIS BEFORE YOU DO…read more I hired Cleanline to auger my sewer drain because it was backing up into my basement. I had to work, so my wife stayed home for the appointment. The technician started at the outdoor cleanout. He then went into the basement, but my wife was never informed that he would be using the basement cleanout or that doing so would cost an additional $295. She allowed him into the basement because he said he needed to make sure the auger wouldn't hit the toilet. My wife paid the bill by check, and they didn't even leave us a receipt. When I got home, I started the dishwasher and the basement immediately backed up again. The next morning, I called Cleanline's office and had them email me a receipt. That's when I discovered the charges were: * $195 for the outdoor cleanout * $295 additional for the basement cleanout I explained to the office that my wife had never been told about the additional charge or asked for approval. I also had the technician call me back. When I confronted him about not asking my wife for approval before using the basement cleanout, he apologized and did not dispute what I was telling him. I also told them the drain was still backing up. They said their technician had gotten very little tree root out and found a lot of mud. They told me the drain had likely collapsed and that we would need to dig up our yard and replace it. I asked them to run a camera to confirm the drain had actually collapsed. They wanted another $300 to do it. I told them I was not willing to pay them another $300 when they had already charged us $295 for work my wife had never approved or even been told would cost extra. I argued that the $295 should instead be credited toward the camera inspection, because if Cleanline had properly explained the situation and given us the choice, I would have chosen to have the drain camera-inspected rather than have them perform the additional basement cleanout. Cleanline refused to credit the $295 or work with us on the situation. We called another company. They charged us $120 to camera the drain. I personally watched the camera footage with the technician. The drain had NOT collapsed. The second company found that the drain was in good condition and explained that Cleanline had used a small auger that only opened a narrow path through the tree roots, rather than using a larger 3-inch auger that would have been more appropriate. Thankfully, we got a second opinion before allowing anyone to dig up our yard. We could have potentially spent thousands of dollars -- possibly $10,000 or more -- replacing a drain that was actually fine. The biggest problem wasn't simply that Cleanline failed to completely clear the roots. Mistakes happen. It's the combination of the undisclosed additional charge, the drain immediately backing up again, the incorrect diagnosis, and their poor customer service and unwillingness to take responsibility or work toward a reasonable solution. We had to call another company to properly diagnose the problem, and fortunately avoided what could have been a massive and completely unnecessary expense. If Cleanline tells you that your drain needs to be dug up and replaced, I strongly recommend getting an independent camera inspection and a second opinion before spending thousands of dollars.

I am fairly conflicted on how I feel about Peterman Heating and Cooling now Peterman Brothers…read more I have used them multiple times over the last few years. Initially I called them as my AC was out and they came out and found that it was the capacitor. They didn't have the correct one my unit needed in stock, so the tech offered that he could wire two together that would "work". If I wanted the correct part, it would cost an additional $100 dollars just to order it, plus the cost of the part. The next time I had an AC problem, I called them again and the gentleman fixed the problem and offered me to join their membership program. The pricing is fair and it includes two check ups a year. He also told me that they do not charge a $100 fee to order in parts as the previous tech had told me. Yesterday was my first check up. The gentleman they sent was very nice and said my condenser might need more coolant, but he wasn't sure they would need to send out a repair technician, he was only a maintenance technician. So today another very nice employee came and checked my unit and said yes, in fact it could use additional coolant, and he gave me the price. I was quite shocked by the price, and looked up online the typical pricing for the type of coolant that I needed and it was a third of what I was being quoted. As I don't believe everything I read online, I called another HVAC company for a quote and they about a fourth of the price per pound. So there it is. Very nice service people, super duper over priced on coolant even if you are a member of their service plan and that was with my discount :(

Finally getting around to submitting a review for their services. We originally had an HVAC system…read moreput in after our furnace went out. For starters their prices were over rated and they had inexperienced installers doing the work. But at the time we had no other choice. After everything was installed we had a leak from the piping for condensation release caused damage to our drop ceiling in the basement. They had to send a more experienced installed come to replace that piping correctly. So fast forward a few years. We noticed the a/c wasn't producing like it should. I just happened to go where our furnace and blower are located. Heard a lot of air blowing and looked to see part of the duct work is came apart (see attached pic). Called them out to repair it. After he looked at it, he said he would come up with an estimate for the repairs. I told him we are not paying for faulty installation due to poor installers doing the work. He said he would have to call his supervisor. Well they took care of it at no cost which all they did was use better duct work tape. Then he informed us that if they had to come out again and "do it correctly" we would have to pay for it. I'm thinking "no it should have been done the right way". So don't ever use them cause they do not have very experienced installers and do crappy work.
