We sat on the beautiful blue couch while waiting for a table, and the overall ambiance felt perfect for a date night. We had already eaten dinner, so we came specifically for cocktails. My partner ordered a specialty cocktail from the menu and really enjoyed it, while I opted for a classic Negroni, which was solid. Our server was very new, only on her second or third day, but she was warm, polite, and helpful when answering our questions. I appreciated her friendliness. The cocktail menu: I think there's a good foundation here, but I'd love to see a little more variety, whether through seasonal offerings or more adventurous flavor combinations. When I visit a cocktail lounge, I like to try what makes that particular establishment unique. I wasn't interested enough in the menu to order a second drink. The biggest hiccup was the payment process. When we were seated and ready to order, we were asked for a credit card to place a hold. We weren't opposed to the policy, but things became confusing when my partner's card apparently wasn't going through on the restaurant's end, while his bank notifications showed that a $100 hold had been placed on his account. We were ordering just two drinks, so naturally, we were confused. We tried to work through the issue and asked if there was another way to handle the payment so we could move forward. Our server said she would speak with the manager, who would come over to assist, but the manager never came to speak with us. Instead, we waited approximately 20-25 minutes before finally receiving our drinks. We weren't trying to be difficult. We were on a date, wanted to enjoy a couple of cocktails, and were happy to cooperate with the establishment's policies. It just felt like an awful lot of friction for what should have been a simple transaction. By the time the drinks arrived, we were ready to move on and enjoy our evening. There was also an awkward interaction toward the end when our server asked whether we wanted separate checks. In isolation, it's a perfectly reasonable question, but given that we'd already navigated the payment confusion together, the timing felt a little off. Overall, I genuinely like this place. The atmosphere, live jazz, and classy lounge setting are the biggest selling points. It's the kind of place where you want to settle in, enjoy a good cocktail, and have a conversation. I'd love to see more creativity in the cocktail offerings, clearer communication around the card authorization policy, and more proactive follow-through when an issue arises. We would return because the ambiance really is that appealing. I booked the entire indoor main bar space for dinner, drinks, and a British Bake-off themed murder mystery game for 23 people. They did not charge me a booking fee, and really made sure every single aspect of the party went exceptionally well. One of the main reasons I selected SNS is because Kim Vu's menu speaks for itself. She does not miss. I knew anything we ordered would be stupendous, so it was one less thing to worry about as we navigated the mystery game. It's always a diverse, fun fusion of flavor ideas, and the apps I ordered in advance accommodated all my guests dietary considerations. Drinks were fantastic too. Felix was our mustachioed mixologist, and he charmingly served us an assortment of cocktails on and off-menu all night. Jae was our main contact. He helped me setup the A/V system so I could use their microphones and TVs to help run the game. I also baked my own cake, and he kept it safe in the SNS kitchen fridge for over 3 hours while the mystery game played out. When we finished singing and serving the cake, Felix even washed my lazy susan and chef's knife. I was happy to donate the final third of the cake to the kitchen and serving staff for all the help they'd provided. And when I returned the next day around 1pm (I'd left my knife behind!) it was Felix who greeted me with a smile "Wondering when you'd come back for it!" Suffice to say, I've been going to SNS for years, and for my 40th they didn't merely make good impressions, but helped my friends and I create memories we're never going to forget.
