I've been coming here since high school (many years back) and this is the only place that has been able to nail my Rx every time, and I have Keratoconus, so getting away 20/20 without contacts has been a longtime trick. From the start it has been a great experience more than shopping with them and has been my go to from LA, Seoul, Stockholm, or any other place in the world. These guys/gals get it right. The last optometrist I went to with no glasses asked me "I really want to see the Rx. Who was able to get this?" So, when I need to new glasses it always means a trip back home to Squirrel Hill. Usually around the holidays for the great sales, but anytime they are always willing to work on the best pricing. You get what you pay for, and sometimes more. read more

My husband recently purchased his glasses and lenses here. At first the staff were quite nice and welcoming. It's been almost a month and nothing about his glasses coming in. We have called them throughout this time and they gave different eta's. And yet nothing.... The staff are unfortunately not helpful and the glasses are currently MIA. It is so unfortunate that a place of this caliber cannot meet simple expectations such as delivering the glasses at a timely manner. To add on to this, the staff seems to be delivering confusing information and they are quite disorganized. It was our first time here and will be our last for sure. Update: glasses were ordered at this location in Squirrel Hill July 6th. On July 17th, we were notified that the glasses have shipped from the lab. We still hadn't heard from this location as of July 23rd, so we visited in person. The staff did not check any information on the computer, simply told us again that they would arrive in the next 3 days. Writing this 5 days after the last visit, and contacting the store again for an update. Their response "checking with the lab again." During all of this, we have received conflicting stories and information from the staff regarding the state and whereabouts of the glasses. We completely understand that this type of work takes time, and there are numerous checks required on that end. The issue is with the complete lack of communication and contradictory/dismissive information we are receiving from the staff on site at this specific location. read more

Really bad experience! Right off the bat, the staff were rude and arrogant. I don't think they care about their customers at all. I wouldn't recommend coming here. There are much better places elsewhere. read more

I had a very pleasant experience. I came for an eye exam and to order more contacts. Everyone was very friendly.

Not going back; do not recommend. Dr Marla Crawford was terrible. Did not introduce herself when I walked into her office let alone shake my hand. Terrible experience during the exam. Personality of my heel. After she printed out my prescription, I finally learned her name. I thanked her and addressed her by her Christian name. She retorted, "it's Dr. Crawford!" Pretty shit attitude for a client-facing employee in an industry that relies not only on an annual sales cycle but also on upselling products where insurance only covers a portion of the amount(s). We all have bad moments, and certainly entitled to have bad days, but she was beyond the pale kinds of inexcusably awful. The women working the retail side of the store, Abbey & Hailey, were lovely and quite helpful in helping me find frames. read more

I got an eye exam and bought contacts / glasses here. While the staff was friendly, I was not informed of any prices. Even after insurance, I was shocked when I received a bill for hundreds of dollars. The lack of transparency left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. And judging by the numerous similar comments, this is a common issue. Save your money and shop elsewhere. read more

Staff was rude and unwilling to help. Have been here once before without issue. Will no longer be receiving my eye exams here.

The best place for not only fabulous frames but also for great bifocal lenses. I've tried other places and I couldn't see through the glasses they made for me. Eyetique, although expensive, is always my first choice! read more

I purchased glasses through the Monroeville location since they accepted.y insurance. My bill was only around $40 with my insurance. The problem was they slipped in a warranty without my permission. Even though the lenses should come with a free warranty from the lab but they choose not to extend it to the customer. I got my glasses 2 months later only to find that they weren't made properly and I needed to pick a new frame. I brought them back was ignored for an hour and a half. I picked out a new frame myself and asked to have my warranty refunded. Third request for a refund . I still haven't got it or my new glasses. I got a call today that they are ready but still no $50 refund in the mail. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN. I will update once I get this resolved? read more

Atrocious, especially after they were bought out. Got some of their most expensive glasses because they were the lightest. When I needed new lenses, they put some ridiculously thick and heavy lenses. I ended up paying a lot of $$ for (dis)service and even paid extra to get the lenses replaced by supposedly thinner ones. The replaced lenses was just as bad. In short this place sucks. read more

One star: half a star for how cute & conveniently located the space is, half a star for the doctor, who was actually helpful. Also, you can't give ZERO STARS! The staff seemed nice, at first. Then the super high-pressure sales technique and guilt trips were rolled out. Then I was told that there is just no way frames that cost under $500 can possibly be as cute as the ones priced over that. Sorry, but I have seen many, many cute frames in the world priced under $500. Unfortunately, they don't carry them here. When I expressed frustration with this, and said that I needed to find something in my price range, the salesman shrugged, gave up on me, and gave me a box of "insurance company" glasses to paw through by myself. What a change from his personality five minutes earlier, when he was nestling $900 frames on my adorable nose and holding up hand mirrors for me! Jekyll & Hyde! I ended up with an ill-fitting pair of glasses that I hate. I hate them so much, I pretty much never wear them. What a tremendous waste of money, and what a phenomenal disappointment. And too bad I actually need glasses at all, because I was so soured by this experience. read more

I stopped by here to find a pair of glasses for Bob, the boyfriend that keeps popping up in my Yelp reviews. Every pair of glasses was so expensive it nearly gave me heart palpitations, but it was OK. We planned to get an idea of how much their glasses were, and what frame types Bob looks best in. Then, armed with information, we hit the internet. Do yourself a favor and check out Zennioptical.com. No, I'm not affiliated. I just think that if you can buy four pairs of glasses online for the price you'd spend at Eyetique, that seems like the saner way to go. I buy my near-sighted glasses there for 12 dollars including shipping. Bob got his much more complicated prescription for 50, which is one tenth of what Eyetique quoted him. Don't get ripped off by these guys! read more

Eyetique: Innovative; Exciting; Fun; Rewarding; Personal. Why is that true? Eyetique specializes in careful, accurate eye exams. This yields a prescription created exactly for you. Special situations? Tell the doctor. Eyetique will make the prescription fit your particular needs. OK, so what next? You need lenses for your eye glasses. Eyetique offers the latest technology in lens manufacture. Years ago Eyetique was the first to fit your prescription into the smaller lenses that were popular in eyeglasses. Today Eyetique can give you a truly custom lens digitally enhanced for each particular eyeglass frame you select. Always first with the best. When I write a review, I often look at current reviews for a particular establishment. Reviews for Eyetique? All over the place. Our family has worked with Eyetique for over 16 years. Exams. Repairs. Eyeglasses. The service is always very prompt, and accurate. Questions answered honestly. Eyeglasses unique in the area. The technicians care about their customers. Personal. So, perfect over 16 years? Two issues. Both were promptly resolved by Brad Childs. Eyetique is, after-all, his family legacy. Not some out-of-town, only-cares- about-the-money, company. Local, family business. Eyetique will be here tomorrow. So will the family. And you better believe their technology will always be ahead of the competition. Let's talk about an issue some reviewers have addressed: Eyetique is expensive. You know what is really expensive: cheap eyeglasses that don't fit well, have inaccurate lenses and only last for a couple of years. Boring styles. Ordinary. No personality. I'm getting involved in this concern because I have purchased poorly-made, mass-production eyeglasses. I have had inaccurate prescriptions, sloppy fit and lenses that frequently fell out. Store staff who didn't care. That's expensive! Unique eyeglasses from Eyetique? This weekend they sponsored a visit with the representative from the Theo brand of eyeglasses manufactured in Belgium. I have been wearing a pair of Theo eyeglasses for seven years. I wanted a couple of different Theo frames. My wife and I looked at well over 200 Theo frames. Incredible! I selected two. My wife picked one. There is nothing on the market like the Theo frames. Eyetique is the only company in this area that is authorized to sell the Theo brand. The glasses you would pick from them are highly unlikely to show up on someone else's face. Yep, they are a little expensive. Consider this: I put my eyeglasses on first thing in the morning; remove them after 11 PM. Sixteen hours a day, 365 days every year. They fit well, are comfortable and I can see exceptionally well. Here's the best part: my eyeglasses are probably the only ones in Western PA with their particular look. Unique! Isn't that worth a little bit more? After reading some of the Yelp reviews, I looked at many websites featuring eyeglasses. Zillion choices. Boring, perhaps, but the eyeglasses will help correct vision deficiencies.Yeah, the eyeglasses were pretty much the same, regardless of the source. Will they last? I'm different. I want something unique. For 5,840 hours every year, I will have eyeglasses that no one else in the area has. Eyeglasses from Eyetique and Theo. Back to the purchase process. Bethany, in the Squirrel Hill Eyetique, was patient, helpful, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, caring, accurate and a lot of fun to work with. I had a comprehensive eye exam, and all of my questions were answered. Bethany is a treasure. Ask for her when you visit. There was no high pressure. Only guidance. Some reviewers had issues they were unhappy with. My suggestion would be to calmly discuss the problems with Brad. Don't be nasty or confrontational. Be polite. You will find that Eyetique really cares about their customers. Our experience covers 16 years. We just purchased three Theo frames with Eyetique's best digital, custom lenses. Trust! Confidence! You only purchase eyeglasses every few years. Apprehension is always there. Visit Eyetique with an open mind. The Eyetique staff want to show you the best because they are one of a few providers who can actually create the best eyewear, just for you. Who knew that eyecare can be interesting, meaningful and a lot of fun? Eyetique knows! read more

If you have the $500+ to pay for a pair of glasses then go for it. The sale people accomodate their clients but as soon as you start mentioning something is out of your budget you've lost them. I feel like an old miser talking about how expensive everything is lately, but HOLY SHIT this place is expensive. The service here is excellent. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The selection is OKAY. I saw some cute things, I chose 2 frames I'd wear. The prices aren't labeled on most frames, though. I kinda felt like I got duped because I just wasn't expecting my total to be over $800. Yeah, it's a (chain) boutique or whatever, but I bought my last glasses at a boutique in a much more major city for 1/2 the price. And I liked them a lot more. read more

Marc at Eyetique is a fantastic employee and made our experience at Eyetique wonderful - we will be coming back for sure. Never have we waited more than one or two minutes to speak with someone, and they have always provided easy fixes to issues with glasses that we had. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Marc went above and beyond with a pair of broken glasses and hooked us up with extra lenses after an error was made. His kindness and generosity really made our day - thank you! This is the second Eyetique we have frequented - we moved and switched locations - and both places have been equally friendly and helpful. Eyetique is definitely a great place! read more

Seriously I spent $900. and could not see. I kept returning to Wilkins Twp location and they kept telling me I could see. The young woman who adjusted the glasses melted part of the lense and part of the frame. Even eye doc not astute enough to see this. Over a year later and the quality of lenses so bad and always they're smeared. Geez even after replacing the melted glasses I still cannot see. They have fashionable frames but don't know what they're doing at this location. Spent $700. on my daughters glasses. Her lenses so smeared all the time she gave up and finally decided to go for lasik. Stay away from this location! They aren't optometrists...just young people hired to sell frames. read more

The boyfriend needed new glasses and we live next door, so this was the obvious choice. Great big name brands are available, but the real reason to go is to see the whole Norman Child's collection. They are modern and well made. The sales people were moderately helpful and did not try to push anything on us. Admittedly, we were on a mission and had a good idea of what we were looking for. None of the frames are cheap, but the service is on the same level as the styles they sell. read more

I had a very good experience here getting my yearly contact lens prescription. Though I can't vouch for the quality and variety of frames sold there, I can vouch for three things: 1. The friendliness of the staff, who welcomed me with coffee and smiles on the way in. 2. The competence and intelligence of the doctor, who identified an issue with my aging eyes. 3. The coffee (see above), which was delicious. I will return! read more

I had always heard that Eyetique was expensive so I shied away. But, I think this is a case of "you get what you pay for." I had gone to a lesser known place and got a quote similar to Eyetique's, but the glasses and service at Eyetique were far superior. I went to the Squirrel Hill location on Murray Ave. and had an excellent eye exam by Dr. Lauren Pastucha who used the latest technology and explained everything very clearly. I worked with two different opticians, Natalie and Bailey, who selected frames that suited my face. They were very patient while I deliberated. Bailey even took photos of me trying on different frames so I could look at them with my glasses on. I got my new glasses yesterday and I am very happy with them. So, yes they are expensive, but I wear glasses all the time so it seems worth it. read more

Good service. Every staff member I've interacted with has been professional, friendly, and helpful. The owner came across as a bit too full of himself (but no worries -- he's not there too often). The frames they carry are modern and fashionable. It's true that the selection is not wide -- they definitely favor particular looks over others (if I were to put an adjective on the looks, I'd say maybe "LA-trendy"). The staff members are good consultants; they help the customers to pick out flattering shapes and patiently let them try different pairs, even when the store is busy. The price is on the high end. It might feel as if your product doesn't warrant what you paid. But I suppose everyone has to make a profit cut, so I don't begrudge them too much. read more

The doctor (don't remember the name) is rude. She sounds incompetent and impatient and not informative. If you already know your eyes' conditions, then you would be OK. Otherwise, do not expect she would try to find the best for your eyes. The sales people at the desks are helpful but you get the feeling you would be ripped off anytime. Location is good. Parking is on the street. One star is for the location. read more

I have mixed feelings about the Squirrel Hill location. I had fantastic experiences with it when I first moved to Pittsburgh in 2001 as a lowly intern at UPMC when my glasses snapped in the middle of a rotation with precious few days off and no time to get replacement glasses. Since this place had night hours I walked in bleary-eyed from the hospital and the SqH staff helped me find new frames that would fit my existing lenses and had new glasses made within 48 hours for less than $100. I felt like my business was valued even though I was obviously not a high-spender. I have had two subsequent pairs of glasses through Eyetique since then, and I feel like the sales staff are constantly pushing the absolute most expensive frames they can. In June 2014 I got talked into a pair of Porsche frames that cost more than I've spent on all of my prior eyewear since I've been wearing glasses (since age 11) combined. After maximum kick-in from my Davis vision plan I was still out over $700. The lenses were ground with the sweet spot way too high, and in two trips back the only fix was to bend the frames so that the lenses angle acutely down away from the earpieces. The problem was never really fixed. Finally, after three months the coppery metallic paint on these frames just started peeling off the frames, which are now out of warranty. While the frames still get many compliments for being stylish, they are looking progressively more ridiculous. The store again has no remedies, and now I'm stuck trying to find an el-cheapo tortoiseshell polycarbonite pair from an online vendor to replace my $1000 glasses that didn't even last a year. The best part: I emailed asking for a copy of my prescription such that I can get this replacement pair since the eyetique optician did my last refraction, and I cannot get the Rx mailed to me despite multiple attempts. The entire experience is profoundly annoying, and I hope the eyetique gets back to serving the 1% ASAP. I won't be back. read more

I love Eyetique! Yes, they are pricey but you will not find others wearing the same frames. My current pair is four years old and well worth the $$$. I still get compliments all the time on them. Great quality, Great Selection and Great Service. read more

I had a very positive experience at Eyetique. I thought the staff was professional and helpful and the selection was great! I knew I was going to pay more for my frames - but, I also knew that I would end up with a really cool pair of glasses that would be unique and fun to wear. I have been to many other shops that offer low price options, but, the selection was just not there for me. Adam and Maxine were both a pleasure to work with. There was no pressure to buy and I felt they offered me their honest opinion when I couldn't decide on what frames to buy. I left there a very satisfied customer !! read more

One star is also too high for this place. Horrible customer service. They first said it will take 5-7 days, and it's already been so long and they are still saying it will take another 5-7 business days. They did not call me to inform me that the order will be delayed. I had to reach out to them myself when I did not hear from them in a very long time. My old glasses are in a bad shape and I am quite inconvenienced by this. I had heard that their prices are high but I still chose them in good faith because of their location (close to my university). What is most shocking is: they do not let you cancel your order, or give any refund. So, now I am STILL waiting for them to finish the order. And, because they blocked my insurance, I cannot use it in any other shop. They are extremely shrewd and inconsiderate towards students. There are better shops out there, choose wisely! read more

They will push contacts, even after repeatedly stating no. Overpriced frames. Bad customer service.

Not worthy of anyone's time. Suffocating pressure is the only memory of browsing at this place. Sat., Jul.06,'13, around 4 PM, my wife & I stopped by while walking down the street on an otherwise-pleasant early evening. After only about 3 minutes of absolutely tidy & quiet browsing, a man asked us what we were looking for. I said I'd like to browse for a rectangular plastic frame that I might be interested in purchasing for myself. The subsequent approximately 10 minutes were the longest, the most unwelcoming and even suffocating 10 minutes that my wife and I will ever remember. With his very impersonal attitude and without any smile at all during the whole 10 minutes, which is not even easy for most people, he made it very obvious that he wanted me to go straight to trying what he brought to us and that he does not want us to browse on our own. I tried them on, I said some of them were good, and I said that I'd still like to browse the rest of the store nevertheless. He came back one minute later with another handful of frames and repeats the same. What I started to realize was that his posture and facial expression (or, more precisely described, a total absence of facial expression whatsoever) made it look like a scene at the airport security, except that he wanted me to try 'on' (as opposed to trying metals 'off' my body) but only the frames 'he' suggests me to try, then get out soon. The moment I decided to write this for all of you was 1 minute after we walked out of the Eyetique on Murray Avenue when I learned that my wife had been feeling the same the whole time. Trust me, she usually accuses of reading too much into subtle expressions of random people that I don't have to meet again. And trust me, if I or my wife can be suspected of ANYTHING at a mere 'eye-glass frame shop' called Eyetique, it may well happen to any of my fellow human beings including YOU. And YOUR peaceful and pleasant evening is WORTHIER than looking at ALL of the crappy frames in that shop combined. Whatever they think at Eyetique on Murray Ave, NONE of us including YOU deserves that crap. read more

Just confirmed that the prescription on my wife's glasses was done incorrectly. The prism was left out. That explains why I spent $400 for glasses she can't wear. Maybe spend some more money on professionals instead of advertising. read more

Very expensive. When I told the salesman I didn't like frames with big logos on the sides, he said, "You need that. That's how people how what brand of glasses you have!" Pay through the nose to be a walking billboard for some overpriced designer? No thanks. Then he told me that he doesn't even wear glasses, but the pair he had on were Cartier so he made an exception. When it became obvious to him I wouldn't be dropping $800 here, he went outside to smoke a cigarette. If you want a good value on a pair of glasses to SEE with, go somewhere else. If you want to spend a lot of money on a status symbol to be SEEN with, this may be your place. read more

Yes so this place is overly expensive, and the staff is quite rude. That bad, but not bad enough. Whats truly terrible about Eyetique Squirrel Hill is that they spam call you long after you have stopped doing business with them. I bought some contact lenses from them about three years ago. Since then I have been regularly getting phone calls from Eyetique asking me to schedule an eye appointment. These are recorded messages that come at the most inconvenient time of the day. Also, dont even both asking them to take you off their call list, because that wont work. Ive tried multiple time, and failed. read more

Whoever mentioned the Groupon deal being a scam is absolutely on point. They pretty much don't even let you use it or they restrict it to the point that you can't even get what you want. On top of that, I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses and they explicitly stated that they would come out as dark as nonprescription sunglasses - NOT THE CASE, they looked like funhouse glasses and we're barely even dark enough to constitute sunglasses. Save your money - go elsewhere. read more

I have honestly never written a Yelp or any other kind of review before as no business has ever rubbed me in such a profoundly wrong way (or, conversely, inspired such admiration) that I felt the need to take time out of my day to do so. Congratulations, Eyetique, for obtaining the dubious honor of being my first review. I have worn glasses all my life and have gotten glasses in Pittsburgh before, but decided to switch things up and not go to the optometrist I had been seeing since moved to Pittsburgh for college. Having since graduated and moved, I figured my days of getting glasses in this city were long over, but I am visiting my sibling and decided to get a new pair while here so she could help me to pick them out. Eyetique is not far from where she lives (its located in Squirrel Hill) and the storefront is cute. These things, coupled with the free (read: covered by insurance) eye exam, led to making an appointment there. While the doctor at Eyetique was spades-- very nice and very professional-- the sales staff and the product itself was not at all what it should have been. My sibling and I had appointments back to back, but they were unable to locate Sibling's insurance information. The saleswoman called our insurance company and, standing right in front of us, proceeded to state that Sibling "supposedly" was insured. While the word choice alone was enough to raise an eyebrow (Sibling and I are twins, and still under our parents' insurance, so it certainly stands to reason that if I'm insured then she is as well and there is a glitch), but the comment, coupled with the extraordinarily snide attitude of the saleswoman turned what should have been a mildly awkward circumstance into a highly embarrassing and uncomfortable situation. This, Eyetique, is the antithesis of professionalism and the saleswoman, manager, and owner alike had ought to be downright ashamed for this woman's inept and rather rude handling of this situation. The "supposed" incident aside, general disdain seemed to permeate from every inch of her being as the saleswoman showed Sibling and I the store's paltry offering of "designer" frames. Which, of course, brings me to the merchandise itself. Holy Hades is it bad and overpriced. Aside from a meager showing from Chanel and Cartier, there are no real high-end, designer brands available at Eyetique. They specialized in a brand called Oliver Peoples, which they didn't seem to have all that many of to begin with. This alone is disappointing but not a strike against them. What is a strike, however, is the pricing of the brands that they do offer. I was floored when the saleswoman told me that frames alone were well over $300. As a life long glasses wearer, I can attest that $300 is Dolce and Gabana/Versace prices. There was absolutely no way that I was going to pay that much for a pair of glasses. Already disenfranchised with the service and refusing to be swindled, Sibling and I left. We ended up going back to our old optician, 20/20 Opticians (right down Murray Ave) and were relieved to be greeted by Barry-- the very friendly man who owns it. I ended up getting a very cool pair of Rayban Wayfarers (including high-index lenses and scratch-resistant coating) for FAR less than those charlatans at Eyetique had tried to shill out of me. Do yourself a favor, people of Yelp, and just drive the 5 minutes to 20/20. Or go anywhere else, really. Eyetique is not worth your time and money. If I could give less than one star, I certainly would, as the only extraordinary thing about Eyetique is the general vitriol the sales staff seemed to have for customers. read more

For years I have been going to this place for my annual eye exam and occasional purchase of frames and lenses. However my last visit was very disappointed. I had already told the first associate that I'm not looking to purchase frame( even though they are having their annual 40% off sale), they were keep pushing me to buy a frame. I understand they are obligated to do so but it was kind of annoying to repeat myself. But the real kicker was after I agreed to explore the options. This associated basically called my frame CHEAP. I have a pair of Persol. We were trying figure out that based on what I had to pay for my current glasses (from elsewhere), if I had pay for full price for blue light protection. After I told how much I thought I had paid for it, an associate say " oh you must paid for a full price for blue protection. Then I said to her I'm not recalling paying out of pocket. Then an associate says "well it's not like your frame is $400 anyway" Whoa. Then I said "hmmm I paid a bunch even through my insurance?", " oh we sell that for $200". Okay that was enough. I gave 3 stars because it was my very first time I felt humiliated by someone in this store. But I'm not so sure if I can say I'm going back. I left the store feeling very angry and disappointed not like the way that I wanna go back thinking I may be treated the same way I was that day. I actually waited few weeks to write this review. So that I can recall this experience in the way that I'm not being too angry. read more

What a cute eyewear store. I read about Eyetique randomly somehwhere but wasn't in the need for any new eyewear. When I saw the store, though, I just had to go in! The eyewear here is super chic, with Coach, Robert Marc, Ray Bans, Dior, and so on. (I'm not familiar with all the brands they carry, other than the ones I've mentioned.) They remind me of eye boutiques in NYC. You'll probably be in the area if you're doing some shopping on Walnut St. Pop in and get yourself some new frames! read more

My first pair of glasses from this company was terrible and ill fitting. When I wrote a rancid review on here, the owner contacted me and promised to make things right. When I did bring the shoddy first pair of 1000 dollar glasses in, the store manager did everything he could to replace the glasses. Unfortunately he used the same style and manufacturer of the terrible original mistake, which soon proved to be just as shoddy and badly manufactured as the first pair. One phone call and I was once again back in the store, but this time I made sure to pick our a better built pair of thousand dollar glasses. It's been two days and so far, so good. My advice, know what you are looking for and what sort of durability you expect. The employee who last replaced my glasses told me the real issue was the way I removed the glasses using only one hand. Of course, she was completely wrong, since I have ten year old glasses that still work perfectly. Shoddy products and anti-responsible employees don't help, but at the very least, if you push hard enough, they will follow thru on their promise to replace the first two pairs of craptastic eyewear. Would I recommend this place? Nope, you can get better eye care at costco for a fraction of the price without the attitude and entitled unfriendliness. read more
