Our first sets of frames and lenses were fine, even though my clip-ons were too difficult to put on while driving. The service was fine. However, when I updated my lenses, I got the lousiest lenses I've ever bought. The expensive coating began to scratch and peel within 4 or 5 months. This was during the pandemic, so I didn't really have any recourse. I'll not buy light-changing lenses ever again. Today my wife went in for a replacement of her magnetic clip-ons and they told her they had no record of her buying them there. We haven't shopped for glasses anywhere else since 2018. They suggested my wife forgot that she bought them where we get our exams. It was all on my wife, not on the store. We failed as customers. The clerk was very pleasant and responsive, but the manager couldn't have been less interested. She wasn't curt; she just didn't care. We'll not be going back.

This was my first visit to America's Best - the name definitely doesn't match the experience. This is like the bus depot of eye exam places. Nothing about this place is nice. My day started by checking in with the front desk for my appointment, and this very disorganized lady acted like I was speaking Swahili. I had to repeat my appointment time 3 times, and follow her to two different computers. I then sat on a nasty metal bench in a bus depot style waiting area, then got put through a few automated tests in a bare room with someone that didn't seem very competent. I then went back out to the bus depot waiting area, and the doctor called me into a room. He didn't even dilate my eyes - despite me being prepared and accustomed to that procedure. This was a big red flag to me. Back to the bus depot waiting area, I then got called to the optical store area for a pretty heavy sales pitch from the eyeglass salesman. It was very clear he had a quota to hit, and saw me as his next target. I ultimately ended up buying glasses from him, but it was probably the heaviest sales pitch I've ever received for something so necessary. The funny thing about all of this is that I never saw anyone wash their hands, or introduce themselves. This place makes money by moving as many people as possible through the system. Overall, I will not be back to America's Best in the future. There are much better and nicer offices in Columbia.

Staff could not recommend specific contact lenses to me, and eventually became frustrated when I was asking questions about specific lenses. I will not go back-- giving Palmetto Eye Care a try for my next exam. Your eyes are your window to the world. Visit a practice that can give you personalized advice.

I have been seeing Dr. Loftis for…read moreyears, and while prices are a little higher than other places, I am happy to pay for a stress free experience. I am not going to invalidate anyone that felt uncomfortable, but Dr. Loftis has also paid me compliments during my exam. Never did it make me feel uncomfortable. I have never found it inappropriate nor was it done in a "creepy" way. He is a lot more personable that most providers, but he also always remembers me and even my husband and children by name. Their office is very nice and the staff is amazing. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for quality services.
