Eye exam was through and no waiting to be called back! That never happens! Was impressed! I picked my frames ,the ones on sale and they were done in 68 minutes wow! After being told it would cost me $972 to replace a single lens in my glasses from Lenscrafters, I went to Eyemart Express. I got two pair of designer frames with progressive lens for under $500 including protective coatings and AR coatings. But the really really really nice thing is that the entire staff is amazingly friendly and courteous. My cost included a full eye examination and Dr. Smith did an exhaustive analysis of my eye health as well as my corrective vision requirements. I can't say enough about this place. Best overall aye experience ever! Ophthalmologists terrific. When I was unable to remove a contact and called the next am, I was told to come right in. I was worked in and the situation was corrected promptly. The next week I was unhappy with my progressive glasses. The WORST experience ever, z-e-r-o stars!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my first time ever at the Boise Eyemart. It had been several years since I bought new eyeglasses and after trying on frames, I chose the ones I wanted. I had my old eyeglasses with me and asked them to examine the lenses in them and to use the SAME lens material to make the new eyeglasses. But, instead they made the new eyeglasses with the wrong lens material TWICE and were very rude and condescending to me when I told them I couldn't see out of them. They told me that they would "not make them again", so I asked for the manager. And it went from bad to worse... The manager Brian, was extremely arrogant. After examining my old eyeglasses again, he determined that they had been using the wrong lens material in the new eyeglasses (that is why I couldn't see out of them) and it would take 7-10 days to order the correct lenses. There were no apologies for this. And I did not hear back... So, nearly two weeks later, I contacted the corporate office and and they determined that I would receive a full refund, along with the correct eyeglasses. The corporate office called Brian, the manager at the Boise store to ask him about the delay and they told me that Brian had ordered the WRONG lenses (again) and had to order them (again). The corporate office told me that Brian would be making the lenses and assembling the eyeglasses himself. And, when I finally got a text, that they were "ready", I went to pick them up. BUT, I noticed that the frames had been DAMAGED and there was a big dent on either side in the front, maybe from pliers. ?? AND they did not have another frame with the same design, so they put the new lenses in a "similar" frame and told me they would have to order new frames and that would take 7-10 MORE days. SO... I called another Eyemart store in Nampa and found that they had the frames in stock and would switch them out, instead of waiting for them to be ordered. I went to the Nampa store and while there, the lab tech Sam, was very helpful and noticed that one of the new lenses (that Brian, the Boise Eyemart manager assembled himself) had a big flaw in the anti-reflective coating. (I wondered why they seemed smudged after cleaning them)... A FLAW in the lens, on top of the DENT in the frame. The Nampa store had the same lenses in stock, so the lab tech made another lens to replace the flawed one and put it in the new frames. Later that day, I received a text and vm from Brian, the manager at the Boise Eyemart. He told me that I am "not welcome" in "his store" again. As if it was wrong of me to expect the eyeglasses to be made correctly, without damage?? No doubt, he told me this because he had made yet another pair of flawed eyeglasses AFTER all the times of already messing up and didn't want to own up to his incompetence. He had NO intention of ordering more eyeglass frames (to replace the ones he damaged), or to replace the flawed lens that he put into the damaged frames. WOW... He and his staff messed up my eyeglasses FOUR times and treated me so horribly. Never in my life have I had such a nightmare experience trying to buy eyeglasses!!!! RUN from this place!!!! read more

First off, I love the eye Doctors. They are great. Where there service tanks is when you are looking at glasses. They do not have enough staff first of all. And if you are not buying something new they dont seem very happy to help you. I will only go there for eye exams and move buy buying to an online service. read more

They are so very good at taking your money. And then so very, very terrible at getting you the glasses that you've already paid for. This place needs a consultant to help them think through their timeframe/staffing pattern. Or, like, helpful employees. Whatever floats their boat. read more

I have never been treated so badly. They charge a fitting fee for contacts even when you have been going there for years and know how to put your contacts in. Also the ladies in the front office for the exam are very rude. Me and family have been going here for years and I will not be back. read more

Great eye care exam by Dr. Erik Thompson who used to be my neighbor, but horrible front desk and management who are deceptive. They have always billed me $69 for the eye exam but recently got a new manager. As of Jan 2016 they raised their eye exam fee to $119, almost doubling their fee without first telling their customers. They don't even tell you what you paid after the eye exam, they just tell you what you have left to pay for lenses and frames. When I asked why the increase in the exam fee, they said they still charge $69 for cash paying customers who don't have insurance, which in my humble opinion is a form of discrimination that results in taking advantage of their customers. It shouldn't matter whether you are insured, or how much your insurance covers. It is really none of their business. Yet the first thing that EyeMart Express or most other eye exam stores ask is: "who provides your insurance?". Then they attempt to grab all of your insurance money plus require you to pay out of pocket expenses for your lenses and frames. It is a racket and when I inquired why they are doing it and asked to speak to my former neighbor and eye doctor, the manager and staff refused to allow me to speak to him, nor did they change their deceptive and fraudulent practice. That is when I informed them that they just lost a long standing customer even though my wife and I have enjoyed our association with Dr. Erik Thompson for several years. If optician offices like EyeMart Express aren't going to be professional, courteous, and loyal to customers, then customers have no obligation to be loyal to them. I should mention that when I asked the Eye Doctor portion of EyeMart Express to cover my out of pocket expenses (for lenses resulting from increasing their exam fee without first notifying their customers, and discriminating against those who are insured) and they refused, the lens and frames portion of the business offered to cover my out of pocket expenses. Though the optometrists may deserve a bigger piece of the pie, it is the consumer who should make that decision. $69 for an eye exam fee (twenty minute exam) is reasonable, but a jump to $119 without first informing the long standing and loyal consumer is fraudulent. The same is true for new customers who think they are paying $69, and are later billed $119 after their exam is completed. Truth be told, on the optician side the pricing for lens and frames are exorbitant. A neighbor of mine who works for the VA has informed me that the material costs of lens and frames is around $30 for a quality pair of glasses. Unfortunately, at most optics stores quality glasses begin at about $100 despite adds for $19. These low adds for cheap glasses are another form of bait and switch to get you into their office. To my surprise, when I called around to other eye exam offices and lens-frames stores including Walmart, nearly all of them except for COSTCO (which clearly posts their fee for an eye exam) have adopted the same deceptive practice. In general, optician offices ask you if you are insured in order to find out much your insurance pays out, then they charge the customer a substantially higher exam fee over and above the cash price that they advertise, your typical bait and switch scam. When I pressed Walmart about what they would charge a new customer, only then did they say they would charge me $75, i.e., their cash price for an eye exam. In conclusion, the deceptive practices of EyeMart Express and demonstration of so little regard for their loyal long standing customers, whom in my opinion they blatantly handle like cattle, is very unfortunate and has prompted me to consider filing a consumer protection complaint with the Idaho Attorney General's Office. If this deceptive practice is as widespread as it appears to be, then those eye doctors who are willfully engaging in it could be subject to a class-action lawsuit. read more

My fabulous pair of glasses that I received here within the last few months had a little accident. The nose pad fell off. I went in to see if they could possibly fix and did expect to pay...AND to my sheer surprise, they fixed (replaced the nose pads), cleaned and fitted my glasses and asked if they could do anything else all for free. They sell glasses and contacts and give eye exams, so they do what they claim, but be prepared for a hassle getting anything right beyond that. I actually gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time (off day, understaffed, etc), but a year later and they're still just as bad if not worse. From submitting a claim to my insurance company when I booked my appointment (2 weeks before the actual appointment took place) then trying to re-submit at the time of the appointment to giving me someone else's record information at check out, most of the employees either lack training or don't care about doing a good job (save 1 or 2). And don't be surprised to get a bill in the mail charging you for the amount the sent to the insurance even though the insurance paid. Save yourself the stress and annoyance and go somewhere else. read more

Great customer service. I went in just to get some glasses and already had an RX from another company. All the opticians working were clean, friendly and knowledgable. The girl who helped me was paitent. It took me awhile to pick out glasses. It was even on a saturday and was quite busy. I had forgotten my RX at home, so she wrote up the order and told me to fax the RX in the next day. I did fax it in, then about 20 minutes later I got a call just to confirm they received the fax and my order had been placed. I didn't even ask for a call. So I am very pleased with the customer service. I would recommend this place over the other eyecare places in Boise. read more

So the commercial on TV is kinda BS. Yes, they have $19 glasses, but it's what you would expect, garbage! I guess it worked because it got me in the door. The hurry up and wait for your glasses is also BS. Mine took 10 days! The upselling makes you feel like you're being talked into something! So why did I give them 4 stars?! It wasn't because they only got $400 from me! It was because of their customer service. They worked through all my eye related issues and got me the glasses I wanted. It took 3 visits, but Brian and Christine were over the top helpful! I sooo appreciate it when sales people take the time to listen! Thank you so much! read more

I went here to get contacts and glasses and they were fast but they were just herding people in and out. They didn't care if you had an issue they just wanted my money. The dr. Was ok but the staff is rude and un-professional. They didnt have a smile on their face it was more like I was annoying them by wanting to purchase glasses and contacts. I will never go back to them and I have told everyone how rude they were and I dint recommend them. read more
