Terrible service. I had an appointment today and had a balance on my account. This has happened a number of times to me with this office, so I didn't think much about it when I got the bill. I knew I had an appointment and could resolve it then. It's not unusual for this office to make mistakes billing insurance. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment, waited in the foyer of the building for five, then stood at the counter for another five waiting for the receptionist to finally help me. She didn't even look up. Then she told me about my balance, and it was for contact lenses. I paid for the lenses. Then she said that the insurance didn't cover it because I used my credit. And now the doctor won't see me. I asked why I wasn't informed of this before I got there, after two phone calls and four text messages. At the time, I was double insured for vision. I used my primary insurance for the glasses and my secondary insurance for my contacts. Once they figured out that the balance was their fault, they decided they would let me be seen. BUT, when the office manager approached me to clear this up, the first words out of her mouth were "did you get the bill?" "why didn't you call us?" I asked what that had to do with anything and she continued to berate me. She echoed that the doctor would see me, but I told her that he wasn't because I should not be treated like this. I've sent my parents to this doctor because I like Dr. Harris, but after the way I've been treated, I won't recommend anyone subject themselves to this office. read more

I initially started going to Primary and seeing Dr. Rossi. I have a unique eye situation and Dr. Rossi would listen to me in terms of what has worked for me for the last 10-15 years. Once Dr. Rossi went to Prattville, the office insisted I see Dr. Jackson. I have seen Dr. Jackson for the last 8 or so years I think and he does not listen to me in terms of what works for my unique situation. Each year, I end up with eye products slightly off for my eyes. At the time I started seeing Dr. Jackson, I thought he was a specialist with my particular issue. Recently, I learned he is not a specialist with this particular issue. This would explain why he has treated my situation like all other eye situations. My eye situation is difficult and different. I wish they had not represented to me that Dr. Jackson had a lot of experience in the area because I would have spent the time looking for another specialist or someone willing to me in terms of what works. It is hard to find an eye doctor taking new patients so I have to continue going to Primary until I find a specialist. Dr. Jackson is patient and kind YET he predetermines what works for you without even trying it on your eyes first - he just assumes. Also, when you express concerns, you can tell he is rushed and does not have time to hear them. If you need routine eye care I recommend this facility. If you have a difficult and challenging eye situation, I would suggest going elsewhere even if they claim they are specialists in your situation. read more

My wife (Ellen) and I had an appointment with Dr. Harris today for the first time. We were very impressed with Dr. Harris and his staff. They were very thorough and informative. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Plus, if you are in the teacher retirement system and have Southland Dental and Vision insurance it makes a big difference cost wise as to which eye doctor or dentist you use. There is usually a big difference in their being in the Southland network(similar to a PMD medical doctor) or not and only accepting Southland insurance. Like with PMD, the insurance company (Southland) determines what you pay for services and not the doctor. When the doctor determines what you pay it is usually much more and Southland usually pays what they normally do with an in network doctor. The difference is you often are responsible for the difference in that and what the doctor chooses to charge(can be significant). Bottom line is if you are a retired teacher or in the retired teacher network, make sure your eye doctor or dentist is in the Southland network. Most accept Southland insurance but most are likewise not in the network. Southland has a list on their website or you can call the phone number on your card to be sure. Alan T. Horn read more

On 01/02/2023. I visited Eyecare Associates at 8436 Vaughn Road in Montgomery, Alabama to order eyeglasses through my insurance, United Health care. I was seen by a young white girl with red hair by the name of Ms. Tristan. She verified my insurance, measured me for eyeglasses, and told me that my co-pay was $33.00 and that I did not have to pay for the glasses until they arrived in 4 weeks. Today, 01/224/2023, I called Eyecare to check on my eyeglass order and was told by multiple staff that there was not an order for eyeglasses for me in their records. I received a return call from Ms. Tristan, and she told me that she did not tell me that my eyeglasses could be ordered and paid for later. She lied to me. This has caused me considerable stress and a lack of trust in this company. I would have paid for the glasses at the time they were ordered without a problem. I now have to search for another business to order eyeglasses, which I am in desperate need of. This type of behavior by Ms. Tristan is unprofessional, disrespectful, and rude. read more

I've been coming to Primary Eyecare for about 18 years. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the doctors take the extra time to explain WHY I'm experiencing the dry eyes, light sensitivity, or whatever issues I may be experiencing. The new offices are great. The eyewear selection is extensive. And they offer the latest Lasik at competitive rates. Bottom line, they have all you need and you will not leave disappointed. read more

This office is run horribly. One doctor stands out though. Doctor Poikey is a caring, concerned doctor while the workers are mean and bicker all the time. One doctor, I believe his name is Harris, rushes patients through and tries to make them buy products. He doesn't care about patients. If you can get through the nasty techs and office manager, see Dr. Poikey who is a light of hope in that office. read more

I have been to Dr. Jackson twice for eye exam and contacts. I am amazed at how quickly they see me, the lobby is never full and "backed up" with patients. The staff is friendly, and the doctor takes a lot of time to explain everything. I never feel rushed and I feel the eye exam is thorough. Very good staff. Very friendly and knowledgable. Wait times are minimal and the Doctors come in very quickly. They have a very good selection of up to date frames and can order many more.
