I usually get my eyebrows threaded but this time I wanted to get them wax. I had an amazing time there the young lady ( i forgot to get her name) was super nice, super gentle with me. Horrible. I went it, was quickly shooed away and dismissed to a chair. Employee comes up, she says "don't twitch your eyes, don't close, and don't water." I was taken a step back by this- I can NOT control if my eyes twitch or water. And to be DEMANDED to CONTROL the UNCONTROLLABLE is ridiculous. I lay back, she begins to work. She applies the lashes, accidentally pokes my eye, then gets upset with me for her mistake. She stepped away for a moment to grab a q-tip, you know, since she poked my eye. And god forbid, my eyes began to water. She came back, q-tip in hand, and begins to aggressively rub my eye dry, as if They started to water in spite of her. I leave, disappointed and notice the gap (shown in photo). I come back the next day, begging to get it fixed. She tells me to show her what's wrong, I nicely point out the gap she made in my right eye. And she tells me "it's because you rub your eye." I tell her, "no, ma'am, I didn't rub my eyes. I have a photo taken immediately after you did it." And she has the AUDACITY to tell me "I know, I know, I know. It's because you rub your eye." The attitude from this employee was unbearable, unprecedented, and UNPROFESSIONAL. How can you run a business, while SHAMING your clientele? Will never be coming back here again. Would never recommend it. I had to go to a different business, crying and begging them to fix what Afraa had done to me. I was told the tech did EVERYTHING wrong. I paid for a $35 temporary lash extension, SHE USED SEMI-PERMANENT GLUE. Not only that, but the lashes were applied to my eyelid. Not even my lash line. Bad attitudes, rushed my threading and hurt more than normal. Had to ask twice to get tint. She just kinda slopped on the dye. I looked in the mirror to make sure it was clean and said I wasn't happy with it. She told me not to look into the mirror and just wait. So I did. Next time before going to a place like this I will look at reviews. Hopefully the business will take advice if she wants to keep a business going. If she messes up, she will argue and argue with you. Even blame you. Even in front of her other customers. Then keep talking about you in her language rambling on to her other workers. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Not professional whatsoever and was offered only a $5 discount after the way she acted. She eventually gave us the discount we were demanding but only after she made sure to still argue and treat us very poor. I will never go back and I urge you don't give them a dime!! I went to Eyebrows by Afraa for the first time 2 weeks ago. She is the best eyebrow threader that I have ever been to. Why? Because I didn't leave crying! literally. I have been to several eyebrow threading places (like in the Greenwood park mall); she is less painful! My eyebrows looked great- not too thin, shape was perfect, and both brows looked exactly the same. I also got eyelash extensions... for ONLY $17! They said that it could last up to 3 weeks. I am currently at the end of week 2 and they are still on. Prices are comparatively similar to other threading places, but I'll go back to Afraa because she is very nice. I used to love coming to Eyebrows by Afraa, until today. Their credit card machine was down and I did not have any cash. I didn't mind waiting for her to fix it, until waiting for 5 minutes turned into 15min, then 20min. Owner was extremely rude telling me I need to carry cash or a checkbook when coming there. Also tried telling me to go to a nearby ATM to get cash and come back (keep in mind I mentioned to her that I had places to be). She also tried to get me to give her my credit card info and take a picture of my license. Who in their right mind is going to give out that information? She then coped an attitude when I wouldn't let her take a picture of my license. Just admit you had me wait long enough and don't charge me the whopping $8. They also now offer body waxing but I have not used this service yet so I can't say how great it is. I was in need of some eyebrows threading and the place I usually go to was closed on a sunday. I arrive here at 11:50 am and lights were closed. Looks like it was not opened until 12 pm. I left to run some errands and at 12:15 pm I called to see if they were open, which they were. I arrived at 12:20 pm, by golly! This place was mad packed! I seriously waited 30 mins for my eyebrows to get done. By the time it was my turn she did it so quick! I felt they were a bit thinner than I am used to, but the brows still turn out great. Also, I recommend paying with cash! They will charge you $1 extra if you use a card. Good thing I had $8 for my eyebrows along with a couple bucks for tip. Overall nice clean place. I haven't been to Afraa since she opened her new place, but I went to her almost exclusively for four years. She is the best eyebrow threader I've had - she knows exactly how to shape my brows, she remembers my face, and she tells me what I need to hear. I wish she lived in Chicago so I could keep going to her forever. For those who are skeptical of eyebrow threading, I am a HUGE baby but I think it's less painful than waxing. My hair grows super fast but I go every 2-3 weeks and my brows look perfect every time. The thread follows the contour of your browbone, so it ends up being the perfect brow shape for your face. Afraa pays attention and knows what will look good on you. She doesn't try to sell you things that will look silly or are unnecessary. She doesn't do extra swipes so it goes really fast. Shaped my eyebrows well, but a little thicker at the base than I'm used to getting in Chicago. Offered me aloe afterwards which was very sweet and greatly reduced the redness and breakout I normally get after threading. (wouldn't say A-Ok, average at best) At 1st thought this was the greatest eyebrow place have gone here monthly since she opened, now not so sure it is still the greatest eyebrow salon. Afraa seems to not be available, always busy, running late (understand this as you are running a business), so past few months have had someone else do my eyebrows.I can't tell you how many times that I have arrived at Afraa's salon to be the 1st in line yet she doesn't arrive till much later than her posted hours, so when I return am not the 1st in line, then have to wait since others have arrived. Recently Afraa's business started offering other services as: facials, waxing, etc. The issue is when I went to pay using my credit card, Afraa wants cash, asks me to look in my wallet for all the cash that I have,,,do you not know Afraa alot of people (myself included) do not carry cash! If you are going to charge $1 extra to use debit or credit card, why are you asking for cash for the added services? Afraa, if you want to keep current clients (like myself), then you need to accept credit card for all services or not offer the added services as you are charging an extra $1 for the privilege of using credit cards. Am considering going to a different eyebrow salon as do not like the fact that Afraa acts like I should give her all of my cash, then use credit card for remainder balance & still charge me an extra dollar, when I wanted to put the entire amount owed on card, keep the few bucks I keep in my wallet. This is very unprofessional and creates bad feelings when Afraa wants cash for certain services, yet charges fee for credit card, and receipt does not show break down of services (adding is done by Afraa or staff, then charged their calculation, I have realized a couple of times once I got home that I was overcharged, so it is not a good idea to get more than one service here as I do not have confidence in the staff's math skills! read more

I took myself and my partner in there this past Saturday evening. We had never been there, but our usual place was closed. Something came up and we couldn't wait til Monday like we had hoped to get into our reg spot. So we took a chance. Both of us got full face wax/thread. It was over $70.00 for both. The lighting was so dark and obvious face redness to honestly tell what was going on. After dinner and we got home, both of us started break out with bumps where we had been waxed. Neither of us have ever experienced that before that time there. Lighting is also bad at our place, so when we got better lighting Sunday morning we could really see. We are worse off than before. Hardly any hair was removed from either of our faces. We now have to wait for the bumps to go down to even get into our reg place. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I also am not calling to complain for there is a huge sign with no refunds in there. I'm sure the owner wouldn't care and must have issues often to have put that there. I am horribly upset about the loss of money, time, and now we both look like teenager adolescent girls breaking out. PLEASE DON'T COME HERE. My partner has been letting hers grow out so she can avoid shaving anymore in between appts and hoping the growth will stop. The lady was rude to her about how long her hairs were and that she didn't have to wait for all the hairs to be long that she could come in and just do a lip and chin wax. My sisters, mom, and I used to go to Afraa on a regular basis. We did not like how the other ladies threaded our eyebrows so we would always wait for Afraa to be free so she could thread our eyebrows/face. One day Afraa was extremely rude to my sister and made her move (in the middle of threading her face) so that she could thread someone else. She was extremely disrespectful and we will never go to her again. Afraa does a pretty good job but she did not apologize and acted as if nothing happened. I had been going exclusively to Afraa for 9 years to get my face threaded. I waited for her to finish up with one customer so that she could thread my face. She missed so many places and got me out of the chair to help another customer before I was even finished looking my face over and cleaning it up. She was very rude and just kept talking about how busy she was and how she was in a rush and dint have time to do my face but she would do it anyway.
