I really wanted to like this place, but will not be returning. Everyone is very nice, but they messed up the order for my glasses. I wanted the sides of the lenses to be brushed and even showed them my previous pair so they understood what I meant. Went to pick them up and no brushing on the sides. I also questioned the thickness - I have extreme nearsightedness and am used to them being somewhat thick, but this pair is thicker than my previous ones. Wonderful place and the staff is so nice BUT the business hours are horrible. At least open one day on the weekend for those of us that work the same hours during the week that you are open. I've been trying to pick up my glasses for two weeks. I shouldn't have to use vacation hours to cover my working hours just to pick up my glasses. I wouldn't even give one star to this place. I went in to help my boyfriend with his glasses. Alicia was very rude and disrespectful. Upon arrival, we were greeted with 'do you have a mask?' My boyfriend tried several pairs of glasses on before Alicia even helped us. I asked to look over my boyfriend's insurance benefits. Alicia let me review it for a minute, but would not let me hold on to the VSP benefits while we shopped. Her excuse was that she needed the authorization number, but that should be on the computer since she just opened it. So she literally could have printed out the benefits again. This was disrespectful. It's 5:50pm you close at 6pm. You called me to let me know the glasses are ready for pickup. I come over. The first thing you ask me was do I owe a balance. Ok, to be fair, the stars of this review are not relative to the people in the front that work there. I am disappointed that I was talked into the progressive lenses with the promise that they would make the lenses differently if I didn't like them. Now they are remaking the lenses because the others made me nauseous but I'm still charged for the complex lenses. In order to use these progressive focal lenses, you have to turn your head to see what you are looking at. I scan constantly to side view mirrors and rear view, and if you look out of the focal area everything goes blurry and well that hives me nausea. The bad review is for the business decision to not reduce the price I paid to the value I received. read more

Not impressed. Doctor said my contacts were discontinued and tried to put me in a different one. After trying 2 different types that did not work for me he said he was done for today and no more trials. Left me in a pair that I could not see out off. Had to put my old ones back on. Found out from another eye center that my contacts were NOT discontinued. Got my prescription from Eye Trend and ordered contacts from another eye doctor. I will never go back. read more

The staff and doctor are super nice. I haven't been to an eye doctor in years and they made me feel very comfortable. The only down side is once I ordered my glasses, they told me they would call me in 2 weeks from that day to let me know my glasses were in. 2 weeks passed by and I didn't hear from them. I waited another week and finally decided to call them. Apparently my glasses were in but no one notified me. The next day I go to pick them up, and my lenses were scratched. They offered to replace my lenses for me. which is great. It was another week for my lenses to come in. Once again, the week passed by and no notifications. I called about 2 weeks out, and my lenses were there. I would've given this a better rating if they could contact when they say they would. If I never would've called, I would've never known that my glasses were ready. Follow ups are just as important. read more

Nobody wants to go take all of the tests at eye doctor. However, Eye Trends made all of that torture seem like nothing. Once, last summer, when my sunglasses broke, I stopped in at Eye Trends at North Park Dr. in Kingwood and they helped me at no charge; so when the time came for me to renew my prescription glasses, I went there rather than my prior eye specialist. And I'm glad that I did. EVERYTHING went as planned and I got my new glasses right on time. Also, the staff there was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding insurance matters and picking frames. Although the staff at Eye Trends were very professional they also acted personable and made me feel like I was at the right place, and as far as I can tell, I was. Selected Eye Trends because they were the closest that accepted my Davis Vision plan and was very happy with the service that I received. I was able to make an appointment for both myself and my wife with less than 24 hours notice. For first time customers they have you fill out an online questionnaire with all your insurance and medical information... saves a lot of time when you show up the next day. Was seen within minutes of showing up for my appointment... no "what time does my 1:00 appointment start" here. My insurance has a $10 co-pay. For an additional $10 I was able to use a special photo machine for the exam rather than getting my eyes dilated for the exam. Well worth it, imho. All the staff and Dr. Stornant were very friendly and professional. With my particular insurance plan, when you order frames they have to send them out so it took about 7 business days for them to come back... your milage may vary. read more

On January 28 I came to your Kingwood location to fill a new prescription for glasses.  I was told to expect the glasses to be ready in about 2 weeks. I picked up the first pair of glasses on or about February 12 and discovered there was a scratch on the right lens.  I returned the glasses and I was promised a replacement pair of glasses to be ready in two weeks approximately February 25. Second pair of glasses were finally ready for pick up about a month after initial exam.  I picked up this pair and found there was a scratch on the same lens as the original pair if this was in fact a new pair.  Considering the damage was in exactly the same location as the original pair I wondered if they had even made a new pair. and they didn't just hand me the first pair.  After suggesting there might be a defect in their equipment I was assured a new pair would be ready in 2 weeks again. I picked up the third replacement pair on March 24. Having learned from experience I did not leave the store before checking this pair, the third pair and sure enough there was another defect.  I was promised another pair to be made under different conditions and they would be ready in 2weeks. To this date, May 1, I have not received the fourth replacement.  I was told they'd be ready in two weeks, then I was told April 19 and last April 30. It has been 3 months since I went to your store and placed an order for glasses.  The glasses were charged to my insurance policy and additional money was paid by me for upgrades. The store has not complained to me about a problem with payment therefore I assume the payment from the insurance company has been received by your company. At this point I have been without my current prescription for 3 months. read more

I was looking to make an appointment as a new patient for an eye exam. I tried to do so online but the website wasn't the easiest to manage and kept erasing information. So I decided to call and see if I could book for what was open online for the next morning. So I call and this extremely rude girl answers the phone. She picked up the phone and rambled her opening line so quick I couldn't even catch her name. She was talking so fast that she could get a part time job as an auctioneer but it already seems like she doesn't like to work or put effort into anything. As I began to attempt to book the appointment, she informs me that the next appointment would be in four days and not what their online site said. I said, oh I thought you had something tomorrow. She's like nope, oh well let me check oh we have one in three days in the morning. I said let me check my calendar for work and I may have to call back but before I could change my mind, she cuts me. Oh ok well have a good day and click! She hangs up. Well damn, ok. Sorry I had to check a busy work schedule and sorry to have inconvenienced her from what seems to be a "happy" work environment. I think I'll pass. Called another doctors office and made an appointment for same day and that person was very welcoming, inviting, confirmed insurance details, and made it so easy. First had an issue with my copay, I paid the day of my exam and when I went back the next day to pay for my glasses they charged me again saying the insurance was making them. I had to call my insurance company and get it straighten out. Next they told me it would be 10 days for my glasses and now they are saying a few more days but could not tell me why I had to wait or when they would be ready. Never going back. Not a good experience. The ladies at the reception desk and insurance are wonderful. The visit to order my glasses went just fine. My appointment to pick them up is where it went downhill. I walked in and gave them my name; they handed me the glasses and said thank you ..wham bam! No sit-down to ensure proper fit; no case; no papers; nothing. I have always taught my children "off the face in the case".. this was my first pair of glasses. I live 40 minutes away and I only went to them out of convenience. I got home and realized I had no case; called them and asked why. They said oops our fault. I called back a week later .. asked if they would mail me one. Called a week later asked if they would mail me one. I got a survey in the mail and told them how I felt about their poor service. Immediately got a phone call telling me if I wanted a case I had to pay five dollars for them to mail it to me. Seriously! read more

They tried to charge me over $800 for glasses (single vision) and a 6 month supply of contacts. I had to keep asking where did they apply my insurance? Kept getting the run-around. Took a pen and paper and showed them how their math doesn't add up. Ended up paying $400. Watch that. They will try to dupe you. I asked how long for the glasses and contacts to come in. I was told no later than the 26th. This was on the 14th. I was told today it won't be until February 9th. Huh? I will say that I did like the optometrist, which garnered the second star. I have been going to Eye Trends Kingwood for several years now. I love it there and so do my kids. I originally had my appointment for Saturday, 02/06. But decided on Friday, 01/29, that I wanted to change it to Saturday, 01/30. I was able to change my appointment with 1 day notice. I love that I can make these appointments on Saturdays and do not have to miss work. All of the staff are friendly and very helpful. The 2 doctors that I have seen, Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Larson, have both been amazing. read more

Dr. Toups has been my optometrist for 28 years or more years. He discovered my 4 retina tears and referred me for surgery each time. I trust him immensely with the health of my eyes and those of my family. I live in Kingwood now and have discovered that the care, attention and service at the Kingwood location matches Dr. Toups home location in The Woodlands. They put lens in my sunglass it was so bad i could see well out of them i complained it took lot of me pressing them to get it fixed.
