I bought a Groupon here that included an eye exam and $150 to spend on glasses, but before I bought the groupon, I wanted to check out the frame selection and the place. I remember, going with a friend to a different eyewear and finding out they had a limited frame selection to pick from. :/ Eye Roc Eyewear might not carry your name brand Ray Bans, Prada, or Oakley, but they have a wide fashionable selection of eyewear, designed exclusively for Eye Rock Eyewear. You might get overwhelmed by the vast selection at first sight, but a friendly eyewear consultant will assist you. I ended up having a hard time picking from two frames after narrowing it down from eight. Even though, I saved a few dollars on the frames from my lovely Groupon, I realized the main expenses are the lenses itself. I ended up paying over $300 on my lenses which made my piggy bank tear a little bit. However, I still think Eye Roc Eyewear rocks, and I will recommend this place to others. read more

I ended up at Eye Roc because I stumbled across a Groupon deal and realized I needed a new pair of frames. (I realize that I "need" a lot of new things while browsing Groupon ...). In summary, I had a largely positive experience here, and it would be a great choice for someone who's OK with shelling out a little more dough for something nice. EYE EXAM -- The optometrist (Dr. Listen?) was nice and thorough. He spent a loooong time flashing a bright light into my eye which annoyed me, but he explained that sometimes the artery that supplies the lens leaves a dot on lens as it regresses in embryological development, and he wanted to get a better look at it. I appreciate good answers to my questions, and I was interested that I hadn't been told that before. FACILITIES -- The store is clean, bright and easy to navigate. The eye exam room itself (like most) is a bit cramped, and I was also caught off guard that they don't have a sink for you to wash your hands. So before the contact exam, I was just given some foaming antibacterial hand sanitizer, which I found to be a little gross because it felt lotion-y. (Small aside: Contact lens was $50). STAFF -- The people who worked there were all very friendly. The people working there were so well-dressed and on-trend, which made me feel simultaneously super hip to be shopping there and really lame for stumbling in wearing a hoodie. One of the staff members was very proactive about helping me pick out a pair of frames, which I appreciated, because I ended up going with one that she suggested. THE GOODS -- Good, wide selection ranging from the sophisticated rimless/wire-rimmed styles to the hipster thick-rimmed tortoise shell types, and they also carry some sunglasses. The cheapest frames I could find were $150 on sale (in January, so post-holidays), and they ran all the way up to $700 or so. A quality pair is worth the price, though -- they are really nice frames, and the staff can help you find a pair that complement your face. read more

Eye Roc has a phenomenal selection of frames and the people are so kind and helpful. I like that they have frames from local designers and frames that are unique. I had my eyes examined from a different eye wear business but couldn't find frames I liked until I went to Eye Roc. When the prescription turned out to be wrong Eye Roc replaced the lenses free with the corrected prescription. Jason was so helpful. The eye doctor had a really unfriendly attitude - almost hostile. There's a $50 upcharge for a contacts prescription which is excessive when it requires almost no additional work. I was going to buy a $500+ pair of glasses but took a pass after the nickel and diming and poor manners. read more

Honestly, I'm not one for taking the time to write a review. I'm never really moved to the point of a rant. However, dealing with this establishment and their staff has certainly brought me here. Let me add, I've been wearing glasses for twenty years. I've never had such a wacky experience. I'd rather send my clients and friends to Lens-Crafters than this place!!! Listen to your gut and no matter how cute the frames are...RUN. There are plenty of other places online and locally (SEE or Clarkson) to find an eclectic selection, where you will receive much BETTER service!!! THE REAL PROBLEM Firstly, the dynamic between the two shopkeepers or whatever their called....it's like being pulled into a circus act. Your eyes go from side to side, as one girl CONSTANTLY speaks over the other, the calculator continues to go plack-plack-plack and you slowly come to the point of a migraine trying to figure out SIMPLY what all the terms have to do with your glasses. I don't know how many times I had to ask the girl to slow down and explain what 'exactly' she meant by this or that. I'm not an eye doctor I told her. THE GIST Basically, after the promotion or groupon comes to mean nothing - in the face of their long list of optional add-ons - you'll end up paying triple what you expected. And then once you go in to complain that you can't see out of your lenses, they say - 'Oh well, yeah, because they are just distance. Only for driving, really.' And that DEFINITELY wasn't explained to you in those plain of terms, although they insist that they offered you the hundred dollar option here and the 39.50 option there. On and on. IN SHORT The truth is...this place and its staff are full of excuses and few explanations. Their inability to communicate with each other and the customers leaves you with frames you basically have no use for. They are more interested in pitching you like used car salesmen than making sure you get what you need. Instead of committing to customer satisfaction, by asking more questions, apologizing and proposing a decent solution....their only proposition is that you pay them...three hundred dollars more for lenses you can actually use...to...see...all...the...time. Hmm....I'd rather not. EVER AGAIN. THE ALTERNATIVE Clarkson on Euclid is a much better place to get things done! I made a same day appointment with them, their eye doctor was friendly, their staff was honest and forthcoming, my experience was flawless! They even offered me additional discounts and itemized everything in a clear and concise fashion. True professionals. People who actually want to stay in business. Clarkson is not the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse this place seems to be...and I'm grateful. read more

I purchased a groupon to Eye Roc Eyewear (ERE) for an exam and $130 off of a pair of glasses. I went in for the eye exam only because I'd found a better deal at another store. ERE was eager to match the price to keep the sale at their store and I purchased my glasses with them. There was a flaw in the lenses so the first pair had to be returned. I waited over a week for the corrected pair of glasses after being told that they were placed on rush order. When I finally got the glasses they seemed larger and the color was off. I called and was told by a sales clerk that I could not return them but I could exchange them within 30 days of pick up. When I went to the store (the fourth time) to exchange them I was told that the store did not have an exchange policy. I spoke to the manager who was no help at all. He did nothing to make this customer happy and he even tried to convince me that every single person who has ever purchased glasses at ERE has always been completely satisfied. I found this very hard to believe Choosing prescription glasses can be very difficult for a variety of reasons, this is something that ERE also acknowledges on it's webpage. I respect the fact that the store chooses not to have an exchange policy but I think that this is something that they should make clear to its customers up front especially considering the fact that most eyewear stores will allow you to exchange glasses within a specified time period after purchase. If you have ever had to return your glasses because they were not exactly what you paid for, then I'd strongly advise you to stay away from Eye Roc Eyewear. You'll be forced to live with your mistake and theirs too. read more

I will NEVER go to this place ever again. Yes, they have some awesome glasses, but I came to them with a groupon and they charged me $450 on progressive lenses and frames. Now I know that my frames would be $200, no problem there. The problem I'm now having is that it took me 3 yrs to get used to these glasses and I recently found out that the progressive part is only a d**n coating that has worn off, it's like a plastic coating. I cleaned the glasses the way they told me to and now that coating is gone, I just have some regular glasses, when I called the place back in the first year the doctor wasn't available to talk to me and I'm just really bent at these results. I feel like I got jacked for at least $250 of my hard earned cash. This is unacceptable and I'm not happy in the least. read more

I bought a Groupon for a pair of frames and eye exam etc. I was charged $145 more at the end in cash. I didn't realize it because the lady said the frames I chose were more expensive and not included in the Groupon, which they were. She scammed me. When I called them and asked for a receipt they said they would mail me one, they couldn't email because they didn't have computers. I also noticed in the store that they really didn't have a cash register or a card machine. They wrote everything down on a paper receipt. It's been a year, no receipt. Also I talked to the owner, he said he had a suspicion that the girl was overcharging people cash (for a discount) but he neglected to do anything about it. I am planning on doing a civil lawsuit against them if they don't refund me next time I'm in town and paying a nice little visit as well. I have a witness who was there, and recorded phone calls with the owner. read more

Currently standing inside Eye Roc Eyewear and I am far from impressed. The staff seems less than knowledgeable, their selection is decent, but the end product is far from acceptable. Out of 3 pairs, one was given with the incorrect lenses in them and had to be redone, another had the lenses put in crooked, which messed up the frame and it was a small hassle getting them to correct the problem which was picking new frames, passing the difference and waiting for everything to get back. The third pair was surprisingly right on the first try. After today we are hoping to only have to make one last trip down here to pickup the 2nd replaced pair. 5 trips to and from seems unnecessary, because it its. Others may have better luck with Eye Rock Eyewear, but after this we won't be returning or recommending them to anyone. I would avoid them like the plague if possible. read more
