This is an optical place for people who truly view their eyewear as jewelry. All three I've purchased (over the course of almost a decade) are ones I regularly wear. The glasses simply don't break like the ones I've bought elsewhere. And when they have small issues--chips, uncomfy nosepads--the folks here take care of them almost always without charge. Black Optical is a story of "you get what you pay for" in every sense.

The first-time patient check-in process was simple and straightforward. In no time at all, I was called back for my eye exam. I had Dr. Lacey Brinkman, and she was wonderful. She took the time to make sure I didn't leave with any questions, and we were able to order my new contact prescription with ease. The issues started when I wanted to select lenses and frames. The prices were so high I asked why and she said I had no insurance, which I did. Then the pricing went higher before vision benefit was applied resulting in pricing near the no insurance level. I decided not to order glasses there. Then I was presented with a bill for $99 for the exam. I was told it was for a $50 co pay and $49 for refraction. I said my insurance covered refraction and I had no co pay required. She didn't relent and I paid. I just checked my explanation of benefits a week later and I was correct. Now I have to try to get my $99 back. Never again.
