My family members recommended this location to me after having their own amazing experiences with Dr. George Dowdy. About a week or two in advance, I was able to easily schedule my own appointment over the phone. Sandra at the front desk is so friendly and helpful! The first-time patient check-in process was simple and straightforward. In no time at all, I was called back for my eye exam. I had Dr. Lacey Brinkman, and she was wonderful. She took the time to make sure I didn't leave with any questions, and we were able to order my new contact prescription with ease. I lived in ATL almost 20 years until recently locating to this area two years ago, and I just recently completed building my DREAM TEAM of healthcare professionals in the STL area. Well. Koetting made the cut and i have zero regrets. As a first time patient who has not been to the optometrist since i moved here, I was impressed from the time I placed a call to request an appointment until the moment I arrived for my appointment last week. I was greeted promptly and they used state of the art equipment to administer various tests, which were thorough and the technician explained each test in easy to understand terms. Dr Nick was awesome and honest. I had been told i would need surgery for cataracts soon, but he assured me I do not and they are currently working on my new lenses, which he assured me will be a great improvement over what i was using. If you want the best, this is your place. You won't be disappointed.

The issues started when I wanted to select lenses and frames. The prices were so high I asked why and she said I had no insurance, which I did. Then the pricing went higher before vision benefit was applied resulting in pricing near the no insurance level. I decided not to order glasses there. Then I was presented with a bill for $99 for the exam. I was told it was for a $50 co pay and $49 for refraction. I said my insurance covered refraction and I had no co pay required. She didn't relent and I paid. I just checked my explanation of benefits a week later and I was correct. Now I have to try to get my $99 back. Never again.

This recent visit has been the absolute worst customer service experience I've had in a long time…read more Employees are incompetent and they lie to your face. It's been over a month and I still cannot get a simple prescription for a different type lens so I don't even have the sample lenses yet. I also requested glasses made, but I needed the doctor to make one simple change to the prescription. This also has still not been accomplished. These seem like simple tasks for an office staff but I am pretty sure the employees are the dumbest and most uninformed they could find. Also they simply don't seem to care. I strongly advise others to avoid the Pearle Vision store at 1758 S Hanley Rd, St. Louis, MO 63144…read morebased on my extremely poor experience over the past three months. In December 2024, I ordered a pair of progressive prescription lenses, using my own frame. I paid $571 out of pocket after applying my EyeMed insurance benefit, and to this day, I have not received a single usable pair of glasses. The first set of lenses caused double vision and had to be remade--Pearle Vision's own doctor confirmed that my prescription was accurate and suspected incorrect optical measurements. I received the remade lenses sometime in February, but they still didn't work. After another eye exam in early March, I was again told it was likely a lens or measurement issue. I completed a remeasurement on March 6, and was told the lenses would be remade again. When I followed up on March 28, I was shocked to learn that nothing had been done--the staff member who helped me had left the store, and my case had simply been dropped. I also later found out that the original store manager had left, which may explain the disorganization--but it does not excuse the failure to properly hand over customer cases or communicate with me. To make things worse, when I returned to the store to ask for a refund, the new manager told me it was store policy not to give refunds--a policy I was never informed of at the time of purchase. When I asked her to speak with her supervisor, she told me she couldn't make the call because the supervisor was located "in another part of the country." This was at 12pm noon, during business hours across all U.S. time zones, so the explanation made no sense to me. She told me I'd have to wait three business days, despite the fact that I was standing there in the store--having taken time off work and come out in the rain to try to resolve this issue. Rather than showing any willingness to help, the manager simply said, "We're done here," and asked me to leave the store. I did not feel she took my situation seriously or made any sincere effort to resolve the problem. I have already returned the non-working lenses to the store, but I am now out $571, have no working glasses, and have also lost my EyeMed vision benefit. I will be contacting Pearle Vision corporate, EyeMed, my credit card company, and consumer protection agencies to report this experience and request a full refund and insurance benefit reinstatement. If you care about your vision, your time, or being treated with basic respect as a customer, I strongly recommend avoiding this store.
