Before scheduling the appointments, I asked the front desk three separate times to confirm that both of my children's eye exams would be covered by insurance. They repeatedly confirmed they were covered. Even when we checked in, no one mentioned any issue. After the exams, however, they told me at checkout that one child was still within the one-year period and that I had to pay the medical exam fee. If there was a problem with the insurance eligibility, they should have informed me before the appointment or before the doctor saw my child--not after everything was finished. To make matters worse, the second exam felt incomplete. The doctor only looked at the photos that had been taken, said there was no vision change, and did not perform a manual vision check. When I explained that their staff had confirmed coverage multiple times, no one apologized. The doctor came out looking upset but offered no explanation or acknowledgment of the staff's mistake. There was also confusion about my vision insurance. The front desk insisted that my insurance would not cover frames. Since I have a PPO vision plan, I went home and called my insurance company myself. They confirmed the office is in-network and that my plan includes up to a $150 frame allowance. When I called the office back, they admitted they had checked incorrectly and said my frames actually were covered. The lack of communication, inaccurate insurance information, and poor customer service made this a very frustrating experience. There are plenty of other eye care providers nearby that are more organized and respectful of their patients' time. I won't be returning.

Within minutes, I was escorted to the back by a young lady who asked me questions about my medical history and took some eye readings and turned out we had the exact same pair of eye glasses which progressed into a long discussion about our favorite imported frame vendor! I didn't get her name but she was very personable. Then came my eye exam with Dr. Peterson who listened to my concerns and was able to hook me up with a prescription for new reading glasses. There were some pretty cool high tech features that came into play while he was doing my eye exam. He was also pretty funny and has a great music selection playing in the waiting room (this is one of those things I take notice of anytime I'm in a business and makes an impression on me). Last, was my interaction with Ray who helped me pick out a new pair of glasses. He was very helpful in recommending frames to try on while still letting me do my own thing and he was also very patient while I struggled to make a decision. One thing I love about this practice is their vast selection of designer frames. I've been to other practices where I struggle just to find "a" pair that is decent. I have the opposite problem here (can't decide on which one I like most!). This is my 3rd pair of glasses I've purchased from this location. I would highly recommend everyone to give them a try especially if you're new in town or looking to switch providers.

I purchased his lubricant eye drops for $39 to get home and find the EXACT brand on Amazon for $21. He says "use caution when purchasing from Amazon because there products sit in a warehouse.." You order from a distributor just like Amazon!!! Additionally, through my insurance I have a $10 co-pay, I am always charged $49 because his office have you sign this is a condition for service. This office performs a mandatory retinal screening (Texas law prohibits imposing certain additional fees as a condition for service, yet Viewpoint Vision in Carrollton does) And don't get me started on the frames and prescription cost. I purchased a pair for $657.00 . I kept looking through my lenses and then without. I couldn't see the difference. I went back and informed him....get ready....he stated..." the lenses were just to minimize possible strain on your eyes, not to adjust the vision that's 20/20!!! All sales are final. So why was this prescription so freakin high or even written? He will NEVER scam me again! I will never buy glasses or products from an optometrist office from now on. I get my exams, get the prescription, pick my own frames and get the prescription filled at Costco or somewhere else. I've have never paid over $150.00 by doing this. Healthcare is seemingly more of a racket than it is about patient care. Greed always steps in.

I have multiple complex eye issues going on at the same time and he is very accommodating and understanding - which is great for someone like me who is terrified of having people and objects go near her eyeballs (think Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange"). I never feel pressured to spend money I don't have, and though it can be complicated every year billing and I work together to parse through my primary and secondary medical insurances as well as my vision insurance to get everything covered as much as possible. I never have a problem getting squeezed in when I scratch my cornea either - though that happens far less frequently now than it used to as we have figured out why it kept happening and how to better prevent it. He has no ego like so many other doctors and sent me to a retina specialist and now they work together, and we coordinate with my migraine management schedule to try and take tests at the right time. If anything doesn't work for me I typically have what I would consider a long window of time to test and return for either a refund or replacement - imagine if other doctors did that for medications or treatments! Huge shout-out to Jen/Jenn/Jenny (please forgive me - I am terrible with names) is AH-MAZE-ING when it comes to frame adjustments so she has been able fit all my frame choices to not only crooked features but also to adjust the nose bridge flare and and other angles for the more "Alternative Fit" I need - which is harder to do when you only wear acetate frames. She's a magician, I swear it, and if you ever find that your frames never seem to look right or fit right, or after a while they need re-adjusting, call and ask when she'll be in to ask for her help. I have even learned the hard way that sometimes my Rx is right but after adjustments (and sometimes due to the shape/curvature of the frames initially) need to be tweaked with added measurements.

Dr Nguyen was SO MUCH BETTER than anyone I got to see who actually tried to fix my blurriness with glasses..... AND succeeded!!! I can truthfully say Dr Nguyen was actually more perfect for my eyesight than all the others in 2025.

Then had me wait, I then waited 15 mins past my appointment and they asked me to wait longer. They are unorganized and took in 5 other patients before myself. Mind you they took in my wife early. And when I was sitting for 15 mins they said I should be dilating. But nothing. No communication, if you are short staffed, let us know. Don't make us wait 1 hour on top of whatever time you need to get your stuff together. It's plan unprofessional. Don't set appointments and take in other clients and leave someone on the side without letting them know your situation.

Overall, my new pair of glasses cost me over $700 (I did get the "extras" regarding the lenses). This is on me, of course, because nobody forced me to pull the trigger on the purchase. Just saying, though, that I believe the "mark-up" on glasses here is pretty steep. Just my luck, I received a coupon in the mail 1 week later from JC Penney for a 60% discount. I am testing multi focal lenses. I don't know if he got it right or not yet because I use a computer at work. He provided me 2 lenses to try on one eye so we will see. Only good things to say for this. For the glasses side, they price match but you will need to in order to get best price. For the lenses they charge a little over $100 additional for a years supply than I can get locally. Drop a star because the difference is so much. They have a good selection of frames and do all the standard stuff. They do send to a lab I believe but they didn't have frames I wanted so I cannot comment more. I do not know how those prices compare. Highly recommend the exam here from experience so far.

If I was only rating Dr. Ly, my review would have 5 stars. I struggle with having people and objects close to my face, so going to the eye doctor is stressful for me. The first part of my appointment was with a technician who led me through the tests. Everything was fine until she was taking my eye pressure with a tool that blew little puffs of air into my eye. She measured each eye and then went back to my right eye and blew three rapid succession puffs into my eye. I pulled back and she just shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the room. I don't remember her name, if she even gave it to me, but I sincerely hope I don't ever have her as a technician again. I feel she was extremely unprofessional and uncaring.
