I had an exam and ordered 2 pair of glasses. $1900. When the first pair came in they were not the right prescription. The woman tried to gaslight me and told me they were correct. I insisted they were not and she told me I have a bad attitude. Her attempt to fix the situation was that she was going to put the 2nd prescription on both pairs. I told her that's not what I ordered and not what I paid for. I asked for my money back and she told me there would be a 25% restocking fee. So now I have to pay $475 for their mistake. I was given the wrong perception twice had to keep two boxes of contacts because I had opened them. they were all different sizes. two boxes of contacts should have come as an exchange for two boxes of the wrong size that had not been opened . Today I get a package with one box of contacts there should be two boxes. I have had nothing but problems with this eye center and the doctor. why he couldn't get the right contacts the first or second time. This is my third time to get the correct prescription I have been back to the office and told them I won't be back. Do not buy your contacts there you can get them cheeper on the internet and use your insurance too. I truly hope you get the right prescription the first time. I couldn't even get those incorrect contacts in my eye. It took me over twenty minutes to get one in. hopefully I will get the other box they owe me. I have two boxes of that I cannot use. One was $115 and the other one was $119 so that pretty much sucks being out that kind of money. read more

Brought in new rx for reading glasses. (Single lens) and asked them to replace with new lens in my frames. My old lens was transition. They did not give me transition. Said they could add it for another $160. They then told me how nice they were to give me polycarb instead of plastic lenses. My original lens were polycarb and I would not have known to ask. None of their sunglasses were polaroid, which is important in Florida. I bought my sunglasses with polaroid and no rx at Macy's Sun Hut 20 years ago. Lens and frames were quality. I showed them frames had slight discoloration on side piece. They told me to wipe them with a cream - which did nothing at home. There were at least three employees doing nothing but talking. First one to see me left me waiting for new glasses even though I had called ahead. Nobody offered to put cream on my sunglass frame, which would have been a courtesy. Bottom line: huge quantity of glasses. Quality, except for limited designer frames. Quality comparable to Amazon. read more

Nice location and nice selection of products maybe even better than most eye centers i've been to in sometime. Just off of cortez road near the mini golf across the street you will find the eye center in a blue and tan building. Parking is convenient and easy, access in and out is also convenient. Like i said selection of frames was fantastic they even had the more expensive name brand frames to choose from. They also accepted my insurance, so i just paid a co-pay of $10 and i got new glasses. The wait time was maybe less than a week so i was very satisfied that i didn't have to wait too long for my glasses. With some of the reviews on here indicating poor customer service i was very positive with my demeanor and didn't make myself seem irritant towards the staff but unfortunately every time i came to visit the office i encountered a bit of rudeness from staff and i didn't even have a problem i was just in the wrong spot and the lady gave a puff of frustration and impatiently directed me where i should have gone. i have been working retail for over ten years and can't stress this enough when a business owner ask me in person what do you find most important about visiting a business and i say you can have a fantastic product but if your employees don't provide fantastic service to your customers you're going to lose fantastic customers. I came here for a contact lens exam and ended up coming back 3 times to still leave with lenses that didn't improve my vision. I found Dr Brad super rude and obnoxious in general. He depowered my lenses and when I came back and told him I can't see distance well with the Prx he gave me he basically refused to make any adjustments. I had to then see his wife who was very patient until I was walking out in the lenses she gave me and still had blurred vision. Her words: I've done all I can...?!? I was so uncomfortable in my contacts they prescribed me and so frustrated with having to continuously return that I had to go to a different eye doctor and pay out of pocket. My contact lenses were way off from the PRX the Eye Center wrote me. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I'm new to FL so I was excited to be able to find an optometrists office. I'm a little weird when I get my eye pressure checked (I laugh non-stop) yet they were very patient & kind! UPDATE: Went to the office on Cortez to look for frames (because the Manatee Ave location didn't have any I wanted) & they were friendlier, the office is bigger, & they have a much wider selection of frames. read more

The optometrists are excellent, their support staff is USELESS. I had the very best eye exam of my life here. The optometrist was obviously well trained, smart, sensitive to my needs and personable. The glasses they made for me are great, and the doc recommended a new format of contact lenses that are fantastic, I no longer need 'readers' when I wear contacts. I'm thrilled with their work for me. I wanted my husband to become a patient there, too, but the person who took his insurance info on the phone said, "I'll have to look that up" (meaning she wasn't sure they took his insurance). Well, she didn't look it up. When we arrived for his appointment, we were the only customers there on a weekday morning. We asked if they took his insurance immediately; they made him fill out all the forms AFTER he gave them his insurance card. But it took the staff over 45 MINUTES to figure out they no longer took his insurance. We live a 40 minute drive away, so going there for my husband was a complete waste of time. So yes, I recommend them for their doctors, but just make SURE the person with whom you make the appointment can confirm they take your insurance plan, if that is a concern for you. read more

I have a very difficult prescription and Dr. Easterling didn't give up until I had 20/20 vision with contacts for the first time in my life. She is patient and seemed truly invested in my eyesight in a way that made me feel welcome. I was fit in for follow ups on short notice more than once. For comparison: Competitor I tried in 2016 charged me over $100 by mail after my visit for my covered exam due to complexity. The doctor actually told me he "had to make money" so he limited my follow ups before we could get the right lens perspiration. Tried a cheapy big name in 2017 and after they used my exam benefit for the year, handed me the same prescription I had telling me they couldn't do better and to go back to the previous place because they couldn't order it either. I then had to request the cheap place release my insurance equipment discount so the expensive place could actually order it. Even though it I had vision insurance, I ended up using the same mediocre prescription for 2 years before trying this Eye Center location where I will go from now on. read more

The staff is super nice and helpful and the exam is easy and quick but I came to pick up my lenses and waited for over 45 mins just to pick up my glasses when they were ready. It takes 30 seconds to hand them to me i shouldn't have to wait 45 mins. Gave this 3 stars ONLY because the front desk lady asked what I needed after pacing in the lobby and helped me out when it wasn't even her job to help me with a pick up. read more

I can't speak about the eye exams, but I know this: I walked into Eye Center with a cheap pair of glasses I bought someplace else. One of the temple screws was coming loose, and one of the nose pads had popped off. The Eye Center tightened the screws, adjusted the glasses, and replaced both nose pads in matter of minutes, all FOR FREE. Friendly service, too. To me, that's a perfect visit, and now I will consider getting my next pair of glasses at Eye Center. read more

I went to Dr. Black in Parrish and he was VERY rude as well as one of the office staff assisting him. I will NOT be going back there. Some of his comments to me were "Oh, is that how it's going to be" and "so you know more than me". He was condescending and I felt VERY uncomfortable. I will be reporting this to my health insurance so they know what kind of a.holes they are endorsing. The optical lady was very nice and knowledgeable though but I rather go blind then do any further business with these clowns. read more

I was on my way to Eyeglass World, but my GPS entered the wrong location so I ended up at the eye center. I decided to go in just to see what they were offering. I came into the office with a hard task. I am leaving for a trip on Thursday and I needed my glasses ASAP. I was blessed to be greeted by a employee by the name of Tim. I explained my situation and the time crunch that I was in. Tim spoke with the eyeglass technician and gave me the good news that they could have my glasses ready in less than 24 hours (I do NOT have a difficult prescription and I did not get any of the extras). Tim helped me pick out my glasses, which were only 99$ by the way. He offered me the additional products, but he did not pressure me into buying extra items which was very helpful because I was not interested in purchasing any extras. Tim is a amazing example of what customer service should be. He listened to what I wanted and delivered beyond my expectations. Thanks to Tim I will be returning, getting my eye exams here, and buying all of my future eyewear from this store. I've been wearing glasses since age two and have annual eye exams. Based on this life long experience I was extremely impressed by the eye care and service I received from Dr. Paige Gillenwaters and her staff. Dr. Gillenwaters spent more than sufficient time with me and truly listened to my concerns prior to the exam. I felt the exam was one of the most thorough I've ever received. The service from Katie, Steve and Haydee was exceptional. Haydee assisted me with selecting an appropriate frame to fit my lens requirements. Steve provide extra attention and detail to ensuring that my lenses were marked appropriately for bifocal placement. The facility was warm, welcoming and inviting to the client. All staff introduce themselves to me and made me feel welcomed and attended to. ( Note: I observed the staff interacting with an elderly client. The staff were especially kind, patient and caring. They accommodate his hearing and physically limitations when interacting. They did not rush the client or talk over his questions. Outstanding!) I thought that service & staff were GREAT! I am from out of country & my son's glasses were stepped on (into 3 pieces) on our vacation. I saw the sign stating 1 hour service from the street & decided to go in to see what could be done. I went in on Thursday morning around 11am with my son & the staff member stated that their equipment was broken & they wouldn't be able to have the glasses done that same day. I explained that we were going home in 2 days. She said she would see what could be done. She came back to us within minutes & stated that they called a serviceman & he was on his way. We picked out frames from the"teen" section as she said they were more durable than regular frames. (Thanks for the tip) There was a great selelction of frames to choose from. She said she would call us when they were done. I receved a call around 4pm that same day. My son looooves his new glasses. They certainly went above & beyond to help us out.
