THAT is what I received here at Gulf Coast Eye Center. We just moved, and second to my dermatologist for skin cancer screening and MOH surgeries, my eye care is of utmost importance. My family and I have had previous issues as well need corrective lenses and contacts. I need screenings for macular degeneration and central serious retinopathy since the 1990s. My wife through HealthGrades whittled down a long list and I scanned Yelp and Google and these folks bubbled to the top of the stack ranked list. Calling the office my wife and EASILY plowed through the insurance and setting up the first visit hassles with Kac who is awesome. Pam was terrific with the exams and laser light show and vision checks. Dr. Steven Bovio earned and proved why his "grades" are so high on HealthGrades and we went off into my history and details and even had discussions about nutrition and eye health and preventative tactics. FANTASTIC doctor and my previous guy in New York for the last 16 years had set a VERY high bar. Out in the eye center Irka dealt with my frugal (a.k.a. cheap Irish bastard) personality and we found some durable, light, and great fitting (for my full figured melon head) eyeglasses AND some protective sunglasses. A HOME RUN!!!!!!!!!!! I almost can't wait for the 1.5 to 2 weeks to get my new specs.....I am long overdue and see with my change in prescription why so many issues!! The staff at the front was warm and welcoming, the tech that ran me through the pre-testing was friendly and explained procedures. And Dr. Ashley was wonderful. Super friendly, and explained everything she was doing, as well as the results. This is the one thing that I really valued from my former eye doctor, and am so pleased to have found a new doctor that does this. After dilating my eyes and taking images, Dr. Ashley showed me the images and explained everything she was seeing - this is awesome - I really appreciate that level of involvement. Anyway, I'm happy I found them and will recommend to my friends.

The opticians seem to rotate a little but I have never had anything except great experiences with them. Dr. Patel has been there the last few years and has been my favorite, explains everything and is very thorough. Great selection of name brand glasses, they handle all the insurance stuff making this an easy stop. My entire family uses them as well as many friends I have told about them over the years. In an attempt to purchase glasses from someone else, I called to obtain my pupillary distance that was not listed on my prescription and was told they only provide this information for people that are purchasing glasses from them. In this day and age, people are barely making ends meet. Unfortunately, I can't afford your glasss. I was able to obtain my pupillary distance from a different provider whom I will be switching to and was able to purchase my glasses for $350 cheaper. I'll never go back go this place!
