The experience I had at the ID depot was great. The doctor was very knowledgeable and explained to me what was happening with my eyes and the aids and assistance in texts were great. The only problem I have with them is they only take one kind of insurance so now that I have a prescription For new lenses I have to go elsewhere to get them because they only take VSP insurance. I wish they took others. It's very convenient and I definitely will go back. read more

Office staff unreliable and negligent in their work. Would not recommend this clinic. I was overcharged $1000.00 for a set of lens. I ordered the same lens from another clinic and received them faster and the price was around $850 whereas Eye Depot took almost two weeks and charged approximate $1850.00 for same exact lens. I requested and signed the form for release of records and never received them, I have called twice since to get them sent here or a digital copy to no avail. I now will personally go over again and wait for them to process my copy of the records read more

I went to The Eye Depot because I thought I could get my scleral lenses since I am wearing my backup pair of lenses that are over 8 years old. The Visit with Dr. Hou was fine and the exam covered everything. The problem is getting the lens, and I am now at a point of frustration. I have been waiting to hear from the lens fitter since the end of October. First, they needed my old information from my previous Doctor, which my Doctor faxed the next day. Three weeks later I went to the office in person to see why I still had not got a fitting appointment or notice from the lens fitter. They checked my file and said they were waiting for my Doctor to send the information. I had a copy from my Doctor of what he sent and when and they said they were sorry but can not find it. I resent my Doctor a message to resend all information again, including Cheryl and stayed until they received it (less than 10 minutes). Now I am still waiting to hear from the lens fitter, not once in the last two months has this person contacted me for appoint only to request the information mentioned above. I just emailed Cheryl to see what I can do to get my lenses. read more

Originally I only went here for a 2nd opinion of a surgical procedure. But the state of the art, clean and highly skilled and cross trained staff could win awards. Never a wait, always helpful and the advice the surgical procedure recommended was backed up by another and was completely different than what the Coastal Eye retiring doctor wanted to do. I needed both the glaucoma and the cataract done simultaneous. No complications. 10 stars if I could give them to all staff & Dr Hou. read more

I had never injured my eyes before and found myself in unfamiliar territory. First, I believe the receptionist could hear the terror in my voice and squeezed me in about an hour after our conversation. Dr. Hou and staff were amazingly patient and took their time to explain everything to me and my boyfriend. In just a few short days I was on the mend and back in for my follow up. I still have quite the road to a full recovery ahead of me, but if you have any eye issues whatsoever, The Eye Depot is the place to go! I will not trust my eyes to anyone else! read more

I went here in December, had an exam and ordered glasses. When the glasses arrived I could not see with them. The prescription was completely wrong. The lady dispensing the glasses merely took them back and walked away. No offer to redo, to recheck prescription, nothing! I had to find a new eye doctor and pay again for a recheck. The prescription was so far off it seems like it would belong to someone else.. I would recommend everyone stay away from this place! read more

Dr McSwain did a great job on my eyes, but his office scheduling is very poor. Both simple follow up visits were over 40 minutes later than my appointment. It's not an emergency center and surgery only occurs on Tuesday, the Dr is not very chatty so my only observation is over booking. Not sure I would recommend or go back based on this alone. They will make an apt and make you wait over 45 min. every time. You go ask the front desk how much longer and they will give you the deer in the headlight look. Would not suggest anyone to go here! My husband had an eye infection that was considered an emergency. We made an apt for today and went in. The woman at the front desk was very rude and hostile. I needed to go in to talk to the eye doctor to relate some important medical information that my husband did not understand or remember. I told her that and she was hostile saying I could write it down. When I insisted on telling her I already discussed this with the scheduling person and this was worked out. She shoved a piece of paper at me to sign about COVID and told me and my husband to sit in a separate room from everyone else implying we were contagious or a threat to others. I answered all her questions about COVID and we both were wearing the required mask. We went to the sperate room alone and we're sitting in chairs next to each other filling out the paperwork when she brought my husband's insurance card out with a tissue holding it I guess because she thought we were dirty. She then said we had to separate 6 feet to other chairs and could not sit together in an empty room! I told her I sleep with this man every night and kiss him every day and this was beyond anything that could be necessary and she said we had to move apart in separate chairs 6 feet away anyway. He was having an eye emergency but we left. Any doctor that allows his front staff to treat patients this way is no one I would ever see an emergency or not. So we are taking our chances and looking for a new doctor tomorrow. PS I was wearing a Back the Blue face mask and I could tell by the way she was looking at it she didn't like the mask. I think this is part of why she treated us this way. read more

I would NOT recommend going to The Eye Depot. We scheduled a simple eye exam (03/2017) in which Eye Depot confirmed they accepted our vision insurance and that is what we were going to use. Once the exams were completed they informed us its now a medical because something they found and it had to go to two insurances in which they are asking for additional $106 and additional $85 in place of the $10 copay. No additional visits were done and they wanted my daughter to come back another visit, this did not happen. This should have been explained to us and I would have gone somewhere else. I would be cautious and ask questions or just go somewhere else so this does not happen to you. Wondering if the way they code gets additional $ in there pocket??? I have not had this problem at other eye exams or any of my fellow workers that I asked. Everyone that I have discussed this with goes in gets the exam pays there $10 copay done. They have lost me as a customer and I have two more daughters that need exams and will be going some where else. Just not right! Eric Sundal read more
