I originally passed by this Exxon, but the second gas station I came across on U.S. 340 North headed out of town - another Exxon, had no pay at the pump option - so I returned here to gas up. This is a popular gas station, and the pumps do get busy. Note, however, upon traveling just a few miles down Spotswood Trail/Rte. 33, we found both BP and Wawa gas stations near Elkton offering unleaded gas for $2.57/gallon. The crisscrossing continued throughout the day and I had seen this location on my way to another stop. I made a mental note to come back here on my way out. Especially since I was about to hit the highway and head back home. I pulled in and had to take a minute to find a parking spot, this place, like other reviews have stated, stays busy. Not just with vehicular traffic, but with foot traffic and bikes. There were a few out front while people were rummaging inside and dining. I made my way in and headed for the facilities. They were in order and a breeze to use. Came back out to grab a drink and snack for the road. I then got in line, bypassed the self checkouts to get an item from behind the counter. The staff here were kind of fun. They kept it moving though. Having gotten my items I headed back outside to try and get out of this lot. With the amount of customers here, it can take some time to get out of your spot. Not only that, it may take some time to get on the road in the direction you need to go. This is a very busy intersection and you do need to be careful when exiting.

It has tons of gas pumps with no waiting and plenty of regular parking as well if you just want to head inside. The inside is of course very clean and they have the best bathrooms of any travel stop. IYKYK. This location feels tailored to the area. It has Virginia themed merchandise mixed in with the classic Buc-ee's gear and the whole place is bright, welcoming. I love all the dog stuff like dog toys and the doggy snack bar; I only wish they would become dog friendly already. The passive aggressive signs for dog owners do get annoying but I still love the place . The employees are great and everything moves along quickly. So even if you find yourself, lingering and getting a bunch of stuff you don't need, like me, at least you won't be waiting in line too long. If you're driving through the area and you see the Buc-ee's sign do yourself a favor and pull off. Stretch your legs, grab an iced drink, some beaver nuggets and lots of gifts for your poor dog who has to stay in the car.

It was a decent price a few weeks ago when I was there but it's also hard to compare seeing as it's the only gas around for probably about twenty plus miles. The nearest gas to this place is maybe, back in Luray which is a bit of a hike if you're running low. Did I trip over any random tire shards, radiator parts or left behind wing nuts? No, as everything was gas station clean and there was a girl scout cookie sale going on out front which was neat as seemingly everybody pulling up for gas/going into the quickie mart knew each other. Kind of neat yet kind of also kind of Stepfordishly freaky. Easy on/off to the highway/road of my choosing? Check! On/Off Route 211 was a breeze. Human intervention needed? No, as the CC terminal worked as expected and we were on our way in no time. Three star gas station bliss achieved!
