I've reported them to the BBB already and am now going one by one to each of their sites around the country that we can post reviews.
After speaking with ESS twice this month to better understand what's gone on with their price increases, it was confirmed over the phone today that the management gets almost no headsup regarding unit price increases for current tenants.
I started out 1 year and 1 month ago with them, and with 2 smaller size units. Within 1 year they have increased their prices twice. Currently in comparison to 1 year ago the price I'm paying has literally doubled from $60 to $130and some change. It was also explained to me by Jason that it's based on current market trends. As someone who travels around the country full-time now, I have units in other parts of the country. That info does not actually match what other businesses do.
As an additive they lessened their access hours as well, while simultaneously increasing prices this year.
The staff that work at the sites are very nice, helpful, and easy to communicate with. The company itself is definitely price gauging people. I've noticed it in other regions of the country as well.
Their business practices are unethical to say the least. I went to great lengths to better understand what's gone on this year because I didn't want to leave a review with false information just from a disgruntled place. I've spoken over the phone with various people that work for ESS and have emails.
This is a perfect example of a company that ropes people in for a reasonable cost and then almost does a bait and switch type of practice on people. Thankfully, the BBB exists to submit info to so that ESS is on their radar bare minimum. There's no way karma won't be coming back to haunt this company.
Whoever reads this, I truly hope it was helpful. I'm just one person but sometimes that's all it takes to help or to raise concern. Needless to say, it would be not be smart to utilize this company. There're are a lot of other places in Tacoma that deserve your business and this place certainly is far from it. read more
