THEIR "REPAIR" RUINED MY SOFA UPHOLSTERY! DON'T GO HERE! The upholstery on my sofa detaches and is machine washable. I tore it while putting it back on. I asked them sew a similar fabric on the UNDERSIDE to reinforce it and keep it from ripping more. Didn't need to be perfect, I knew the tear itself could not be sewn together but patching and stitching the underside could mitigate the damage. I came to pick it up and BOTH SIDES were covered in a fabric patch that's not even a close match! I was told that there wasn't a way to reinforce it from the underside so they just did both. Even if that were true (it's not), why did no one call me FIRST and tell me the work I requested and paid for wasn't possible? This is a very basic ask of a professional tailor, it's unbelievable they got it so wrong! This patch is so much worse than the original tear. Great alterations on a set of service trousers. They look as if nothing has been changed

I needed pants altered, hemmed on short notice (24) hours. Called and inquired if this was something that could be done. And fortunately, the owner said yes! I called other locations that morning and was told they would not be able to turn it around in time. Price was $28. Some thought that may have been a lot. However, it was in my range and conducive to me having the pants back in order to make my flight the next day. I would definitely go back for alterations. read more

You can't please everyone but if you can please 9 out of 10 you are doing great. First and foremost the owner is the shop and she is in her shop almost everyday even staying late sometimes, after the store closes, to finish work for people. worried about the price? well who goes to get something done without asking the price first. Anyways. So I was in a pickle and had to get 5 USAF BHG uniforms done for a parade within like 3 days. These uniforms used to take the alterations shop on base about 2 weeks to do from scratch. I sent the specs over to Chrissy along with one of my older uniforms and with a few looks she had it. she knocked out five fully dressed USAF BHG uniforms from nothing to something in 3 days. that include hems, tapers, sew in creases, piping , ranks, waists. no easy task when you virtually have to take the pants apart to do it and then sew them back together again. the prices are more than fair especially if you look at the alternatives on base. she is a master of the trade. Need custom pillows made?she can do it ( I walked in and saw her doing it), need drapes? she can handle that too? need a dress done? bring it in. BY THE WAY-- Name tapes can be done here! why pay the Exchange and have to wait weeks when she can have them done for less and in no time flat. Name tape machine on site! To be a one person shop and provide the service that she does and in the timely manner that she does it makes this shop pretty dang good! read more

I am SO impressed with the ease of requesting my hems and picking them up exactly as new as I had dropped them off! I had purchased two pairs of those yoga-dress paints (beta brand) and they were WAY long for "average 5'6" girl...ug) but Express Sewing made it easy to get my legs hemmed as if they were originally made that way! PS--Having English Fluency with a seamstress WAS AWESOME --and I have often run into sewing companies where communication has been problematic---there is NO mis-communication here. I dropped off 3 OCP uniform tops to get 2 badges, rank, and tapes sewn on. Went to pick them up and all three had rips and holes from the velcro. Two of my badges had the wreath sewn through. Owner said that happens and said probably no one would notice but she would fix the issues and would have it done the same day. When I went to pick them up the next day she elongated the nametapes making them 1/2" bigger than the us army and moved them to cover the damage. My rank is still crooked, my badges are offset and I still have holes in brand new top. When I told her she said she said they looked fine and nothing further would be done. I paid $85 just for labor I supplies all the patches. I am paying another $75 for everything to be redone and paid for two more tops to replace the damage. read more

We have used Chrissy at Express Sew since she opened. She has done both major and minor alterations, and some very tedious repairs. When we get the items back the alterations are usually better quality than the original sewing. The repairs she has taken on have been excellent. She are her staff turn out quality work time and time again. Her shop is across town so not really convenient, but due to the Quality of work, we make the trip. Don't go here if you're military. You get better prices and service at the PX and it's a quicker turn around for dry cleaning. I tried to get rank sewn on my PC and the person didn't know where to sow it. I went to the PX shortly after just to realize everything was at least 1 dollar cheaper per service. This crazy soldier had tripped on a sidewalk in a construction area and she ripped a chunk out of her camouflage uniform from a piece of exposed rebar. Crazy, right? So far I have only had alterations and patches seen on here but she was very nice and did a good job. Probably most importantly there was a very quick turnaround time, 6 pairs of pants all in a few short days and 6 name patches ready the next day of I recall. It appears the dry cleaning is sent out because I did not see any equipment for that sort of work but I may try them for dry cleaning soon since I do need that service also. The shop is directly across from one of the entrances to Hunter Army Airfield and I saw a good amount of military uniforms waiting to be picked up so I'm sure that is a lot of her business. read more

My daughter was referred to this dry cleaners as being very efficient and inexpensive. Being a college grad student who is trying to save every penny for her education this bill ended up being twice as expensive as dry cleaners in Virginia where she is from. We brought her quilt, 2 shams, 4 fleece lap blankets and a small throw rug and was charged close to $200. We could have purchased a new quilt set, rug and throw blankets for half of that. I urge anyone who is a prudent shopper to ask first what the price is. They certainly take advantage of making money off services that shouldn't cost as much as they charge. Beware and careful not to waste your money here. The store was suppose to be opened at 10:00am and when we arrived after a 20 minute drive found out that a note tapped to the front door said they would not open until 12:00pm. Not a way to run a business especially when most people have schedules to maintain. We were very disappointed in the service we received and appalled at the price charged. read more
