$36,000.00 of outboard engine parts were stolen from my boat. We were told by the on-duty staff member that they have had a rash of thefts. We also found out they do not have cameras in the RV and boat parking area. Even after they have had thefts before they did not add any cameras in the RV and boat storage area. I asked Extra Space to do the right thing and cover my loses but they stated, "That isn't going to happen". We have moved our boat to a new storage facility that does have cameras in the outdoor storage areas. We have already called the number you provided and were told the same thing, you are not going to do anything about the break in or our losses. read more

I have enjoyed using the Extra Space Storage on Bloomingdale. The Mgr (Mike) is always very helpful. I asked him about downsizing my unit after I had sold and given away quite a few items, He helped me determine what size I would need next and he was spot on!! MINIMAL / ALMOST ZERO SECURITY, building doors remain unlocked overnight.... I have to say, the employee we dealt with was great, none of this was his fault... I blame the Management / owner of the facility. YOU NEED TO BE BETTER... Our unit was broken into this week and granted the contract is like any other storage facility, the facility is NOT responsible for theft, damage, etc... which is pretty standard in that industry... I get it... Where I put the blame is that I found out that the buildings DO NOT EVER LOCK. If you are going to take ZERO responsibility for loss, than you should do ALL YOU CAN to ensure that loss doesn't happen....START WITH LOCKING THE DOORS OVER NIGHT!!!!! There is NO requirement for these doors to be secure, as long as you scale the fence, you can access any of the buildings and the "bars" on the top of the units are EXTREMELY flimsy and the bars over my unit were bent where the person got in... additionally, I could not see ONE camera looking at the door closest to my unit... I found a better solution and more secure storage option a little farther down Bloomingdale Ave... read more

Mike is a great manager, and very helpful. Unfortunately, my boat was vandalized, and both outdrives were stolen in their lot. I was told that they have been experiencing a group of homeless people breaking in. My boat was not the only one that had been vandalized. And it is not the first incident in their lot. There are no lights in the parking area in the cameras don't really capture much. I was also told that it would be impossible to look back at the footage to find these guys. Sounds like an inside job. Be careful if you have anything in their lot as it is not safe. read more

This is a very clean easily accessible location, however the whole model behind storage units is to continuously raise your rent the longer you keep it. Finally after paying $160 a month for an 8x10 storage unit we bought a a 6x10 handished for less than what we pay in 6 months to this company.
