This company increases rates with no justification. After just 4 months our unit price was doubled. I notice multiple class action lawsuits - one in 2019 for bate and switch that they lost. Today their Black Friday sale is showing 50% off - which will not last if you sign up with them. The unit we used was off Sunset in Raleigh. I expect this bate and switch activity is a company strategy however. read more

Extra Space will hound you for google reviews persistently. We stored some furniture for one year in unit 237 and returned to find it covered in rat urine and feces, Extra Space then told us to "leave it in the unit until they decide how to precede". Tyler told us that Extra Space would handle the disposal of the furniture since the damage occurred during their "care". Today, I got a call saying that I needed to come in to dispose of it or pay to have it removed. My initial impression was good but that has quickly changed. I am in the process of relocating to Raleigh from Wilmington. Yesterday i brought some items from Wilm to put in storage in Raleigh. The facility has major roof leak issues. When i brought my concern to the staff i was told "maybe it won't leak over your unit". There was a significant amount of water on the floor from roof leaks. They knew the roof leaked and did not disclose that info. If you walk around and look at the ceiling you will spots of previous leaks. I now have to scramble to move my belongings to a safe, dry place. read more

Top Notch Customer Service from Russell and Ms. Ray. I reserved a storage space online and thought I was getting the best deal. When I got to the facility Russell gave me an even better deal. Who does that - Russell that's who! We used Extra Space Storage to temporarily store some items while waiting to close on our new home. Then our closing date on the new home got moved so we had to completely move out of our apartment. I needed a bigger storage unit and Ray made that happen. She helped me choose which size would work and she was right. She knows her stuff. She also transferred the promo that Russell had given me to the new unit without me asking for it. Who does that - Ray that's who! The facility has covered move-in areas so you are protected from rain/snow. They also have carts to make it easier to roll your items to your unit. I LOVED working with this office for the past two years! Setting up was painless. They were courteous and accommodating as I was across the country. Bill and his associates are always awesome and helpful. The facility is clean and well kept. BEWARE: ROACHES, ROACHES, ROACHES...AND MORE ROACHES! I needed a temporary place to store a few things from my home. I noticed on several occasions that ROACHES were crawling on the walls and overhead wiring in my storage unit. They clearly were coming from another unit either next to mine or adjacent to it. The other possibility is that the facility itself is home to these nasty ROACHES. I am super clean and organized. I've never had a bug problem, ever! I was so disgusted by this matter that I moved my things out and took them home. I refused to take those items into my home. Instead, I moved them into a shed in my back yard and had a professional pest control technican come and treat the shed, etc. I beg you, please choose another facility, unless you like ROACHES. Also, with any facility you choose, make sure to ask if they have or ever had a pest control problem. You have a right to know! It's in your best interest! read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Horrible Customer service and plenty of water leaks. Take a look up when you tour the facility and you'll see plenty of water stains in the ceiling. Then take a second and think why they are there and why you would pay for a place with a seemingly chronic leaky roof. Management was more interested in talking to a trainee that got two questions wrong on a test on the phone then getting off the phone to provide a bucket to stop an active water drip on items being paid for them to store. Even better they could have used that dense cinder block on their head and actually put up a bucket after they called me to notify of a leak instead of letting the facility continue to leak for hours on goods in storage when they knew there was a leak. read more

I had a great experience with Extra Space. First on the phone with customer service I was able negotiate a lower price than expected based on prices I had been offered at other Storage sites.
