Office staff here is amazing! Ronda and Brendan are great. Whether it's clarifying bills, giving a heads up on price changes, answering questions and even helping with locks- they're there! I'd use this storage in the future if I ever need just to be able to speak with these two. read more

Much like the other comments, they are unreliable and rude beyond belief. Their motto is always " we want to work with you!" And then do the exact opposite. 35% increase every 2 months minimum, and that goes on all year long until a box sized unit goes from 70$ to 200$ within the same year. they have a habit of entrapping their clients between jacking prices and calling their "easy pay" and "auto pay" two separate things. I abruptly received a rude email saying my items were going to auction. When I called to ask why, they claimed I was behind months on payment which wasn't true because easy pay was on, and when I wanted to email them proof they dismissed it and said "easy pay was on, but auto pay was off"... is that not the same thing? They claimed the card on file (which I had proof of as well) didn't exist and was not attached to the account, but when I told them I'd like to clear the outstanding balance suddenly the card was on file? So I was lied to again? When speaking to corporate, the woman was also dismissive and bragged about their "high end intricate systems", then proceeded to tell me 100+ texts were sent to my phone. I explained I had not received one since the beginning, and she quickly switched up and said it because my cell provider with held these texts?? I have my phone records from November 2021 until now, nothing was withheld because it didn't come through. They refuse to see proof and won't give me an email to show them these records. After going through my online account, I clearly see text notifications were ON. The woman started reading random card numbers to me, none of which have ever been attached to this account, and again, I have multiple bank statements proving that but they don't want to hear it. While this is being investigated, I mentioned not to renew me for another month, as I plan on pulling my items out of there the next day and moving to a more reliable company. Their reply? "Oh good, happy to hear it" in a sarcastic tone. This is how your corporate employees handle unsatisfied clients? You should be ashamed to call yourself a professional company. On top of having subpar units too? Exposed wires, Collapsing metal mesh, unsanitary units, elevators are coasted in the smell of mold and mildew ... a lot of nerve for a company that needs to be investigated. read more

We have stored my son's belongings at Extra Space Storage for the past 3+ years. It's always been clean, easy to access and the employees are very helpful. No bugs, climate controlled and short drive to campus. read more

After talking with Rhonda by phone and in person during a tour of the facility, we decided to rent with Extra Space Storage. Formerly Hampshire Storage, this facility has changed hands, and not for the better. A recent call to local management was answered impatiently and unprofessionally. (That was a surprise, as the old manager was almost too enthusiastic about answering questions.) When we came to empty our unit, we couldn't get our gate code to work. Because it was a Sunday, no one was in the office. That would have been ok--but no one answered the 800 number either! Zero customer service. Worst of all was that we got in anyway, by piggybacking on other customers who happily went through the gate first and held the doors for us. So zero security. Won't be back. read more

Horrible customer service, rent goes up every six months. When I first started five years ago my rent was 55 but it went to 65 now it's $73 for a 5 x 5. This place is non-secure the gate is always broken. During the winter time I doubt they even put the heat on in the building because it's the same temperature as the outside as it is in the inside. read more

The staff Brenden and Rhonda are exceptionally Awesome staff! Brenden was extremely helpful during my experience and I would rate him as a 10. He had great customer service. Overall, the staff were wonderful; however, the cleanliness of the restrooms were not up to par and the floors should be remodeled. But the outside was lit and modern, and the storage was well and served its purpose. My first time experience was good. read more

Beware. Do not trust the price you get the unit for. They will raise your price so fast, at a ridiculous rate once you have moved in. In July of 2020 we were paying $182 and in a year and a half jacking our rent up every few months they are now charging $320 only 18 months later. We have rented from this place for over a decade consistently. They had told us when we signed our contract to call them when we receive a notice of increase, and they would make sure the increases would be minimized. But this is not true. They tell us with every increase there is nothing they can do. They are just taking advantage of your situation. read more

The building is not temperature controlled like advertised. The best way to guarantee this is too request a unit that does not connect to the perimeter of the outside units. After a few month of renting we discovered mold in our unit. Most of our items were destroyed. The manager Brendan is the only great part of this company. He goes above and beyond. But unfortunately this company doesn't give him a break. The gate is ALWAYS open. That doesn't give you the good feeling of security. Rent also goes up, quite often. read more

Could not agree more with Samantha! When this was Hampshire Storage the professionalism and customer service was top notch. Now, it is difficult to get hold of someone, and when you do finally get someone from the facility and not from corporate on the phone, the tone is often rude and "can't be bothered." Additionally, rent has gone up at least three times in the last two years, and by significant amounts, 20 dollars or more each time. The facility does not seem clean or well maintained, at least by the standards I was previously used to. And, as Samantha also mentioned, security seems to be a frequent issue. One or the other of the gates is often broken and the solution when this happens seems to be to just leave one of the gates open all the time. The frequent rent increases and the poor customer service are what is most concerning to me, however. The two facility managers from the Hampshire Storage Days set the bar very high in both respects, and so far Extra Space has not come anywhere near to meeting it If my stuff was not already well and truly ensconced , I would be looking for another place, no question. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt I needed to in light of the recent negative review posted on Extra Space Storage in Poughkeepsie that is the complete opposite of my experience. I contacted ESS on the recommendation of a moving company and couldn't have been treated better. The management and staff were exceptionally polite and helpful every step of the way. In fact, the manager went out of his way to ensure I was able to secure the right unit for my needs, a unit that wasn't scheduled to open up until the day before I needed it. He went to considerable effort to supervise the moving out of the previous renter's things and to secure my reservation before the computerized reservation system allowed anyone else to snap up the space. I also found the cost to be very competitive, especially in light of the superior condition of the facility. You can rent for less, but it'll mean less quality and security, as well. I don't know why my experience was so very different than the other review, but if you're considering using ESS, I would definitely recommend them. read more
