I moved from Boston to Martha's Vineyard last November, and they couldn't have been better. They answered all my nervous questions, mostly in a timely fashion except maybe once or twice, but I called a lot because I hadn't moved in 30 years. As for the move itself, it went smoothly, the guys helped me finish packing when that was not what I'd intended but, oops! I fell behind a bit. They even got my plants down to the vineyard without incident, and I have a ficus, and a 10-foot tree. When they set the furniture down in the new place, they put it down very carefully, so there was no scraping on the floor. Now I'm moving again to another place on the Vineyard, and I immediately called Barnes again.

The driver was obnoxious, complaining and stomping around, snarling and glowering with teeth clenched, and I told him I didn't appreciate it. He took offense. By the time Colony got here, my husband and I, age 76, were exhausted, working on too little sleep for days. We didn't need complaints from a well-rested prima donna who'd just come back from FOUR DAYS off with pay (long Thanksgiving weekend). Colony couldn't find a substitute driver and crew. Thank goodness, we were able to find a local company that stepped in. Otherwise, we'd have been non-compliant with our closing agreement.

The staff is always quick to help with any issues such as when I need to add another unit temporarily or need my access hours extended. As an antique dealer, I have many business friends who also use storage facilities throughout New England and I get to hear all their problems and complaints. Luckily, that is not the situation here. Even in inclement weather the area is always plowed and or shoveled to easily access my unit. I've never had a problem with gate access and clean restrooms are always available - even though it's not a climate controlled unit, I have never had any damage from water or moisture, and never hesitate to leave anything in my unit.
