This is our third year in a row using Extra Space Storage in Plainville, Ma. We run a holiday bike drive and need a place to store the boxes and then build the bikes before we deliver them. Their units are always perfectly clean, maintained, and safe for everything we do. I come in and out a lot as I collect bikes, so feeling safe as I do this is a huge priority to me. Your advertisement said 1st month free. Well as it turns out there is an "administration fee " your employee you could not tell me what that was for. Ado I had to buy one of your locks SOOO...my first month is NOT free it cost me over $50. It's misleading and frankly very sketchy. I would like to know what administration fee is for. and why do I have to move your rock? I also asked for a unit that was close. I'm all the way down inside the hallway there's no way up to Paula Dolly you're bringing your things in this whole experience and your facility is very unsatisfying. read more

Do not rent from this place unless you want your rent raised $90 after two months. Scam artists. Better off with uhaul.

I rented a 10x10 unit for $156 a month in August 2019. Since then they raised my rent 2x! It went to $163. I just went online to make a payment and it is up to $187!! They raised my rent 2x in 13 months. These are not small adjustments either. Not only that if you are late beware its a $30 late fee. They didn't help me at all during shut down for the pandemic. No I paid late fees during shut down. read more

I am only giving one star because they force you to. This is not just a review THIS IS A WARNING. My unit was 3019... IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING IN THAT BUILDING YOUR ITEMS ARE DESTROYED AND COVERED IN MOLD! The manager saw it herself and panicked because she even had a unit in that same building. My blankets, my clothes, my child's car seat, boxes of pictures, my luggage, dining room tables and chairs. Items. Can never get back. And I HAD to get out of that unit immediately because I had been spending $120-130/ month for 16 months and I was finally moving and just couldn't afford one more month there. But I could never bring these items into my home with my 6 year old! So they let us dump the items into their dumpster as long as we broke down the chairs and tables. We took plenty of pictures. Please see them here and go save your belongings. The manager gave me a phone number to call to file a claim but they said I only had $100 worth of coverage (at the time I opened it I only had about $100 worth of things in there but throughout a year and a half I naturally moved lots more into it as life changes) I asked the manager to recoup me for my rent. They clearly were extremely neglectful but she told me "she couldn't do that- that's what the coverage is for" being smart enough I know the coverage is only for the items INSIDE the unit. It has nothing to do with the rent paid to the clearly neglectful property management. When I told her this she changed her tune and said "sorry my district manager is on vacation for a week, he will call you some time next week" (how convenient) I am sincerely and truly devastated and disappointed in their lack of willingness to help. Oh and as I was leaving I was trying to purchase a plastic cover for my mattress for $5.00 as that day we were moving in the rain.. and she let me have that for free like some sort of consolation prize. But won't give me back a dime of my money spent for them to maintain a climate controlled building as promised. Of course my natural next step is meeting with a lawyer. It's ridiculous the lack of empathy here. So please I beg of you anyone storing with this place check on your belongings immediately whatever building unit 3019 is in..... (I'm assuming it's building 30 but not sure how their numbering works) your precious, irreplaceable items have been destroyed. Get down there immediately!! (Again please look closely at the photos. Even the floor is covered in mold!!! Nothing was salvageable) read more

Facility is nice. reason for the 2 stars is they bate and switch. You pay a rate when you start and they raise the rates 3 months later by nearly 10% and they say that they continually evaluate the rates. Haven't gone down yet. Just be ready to pay more. read more
