If I could put a negative infinity, I would. This is the second time I have submitted a review, the other one never appeared. Interesting. Our unit was broken into back in July of this year. And while there is an open investigation, I can get no one from the corporate offices to address the incident. By the way, there are 13 (thirteen to date) open cases of burglary at this location going back to at least May of this year. And since at least May of this year, not only have multiple units been broken into and burglarized, but the security cameras were not functioning, there was a hole in the perimeter fences, people were being allowed to come and go at all hours (it is supposed to be closed by 10:00pm) and most egregiously, there are people living in the units. That, in and of itself, is illegal and puts everyone's belongings at risk. A risk we never agreed to. Besides the fact that the cameras were not working (also a risk we did not agree to) from at least May to late July of this year (AFTER some 13 break ins!), other units were broken into by thieves knocking holes in the particle wood and sometimes drywall "walls" between units. In our case, someone simply clipped off the lock and put a lock from Extra Space Storage on, I guess maybe they were planning on coming back. Why were the cameras, hole in perimeter fence, more sturdy siding between units, more monitoring of people coming at all hours, people living in units, etc., not addressed after the FIRST break in?! Unacceptable! There was a 3 day period from the time I had been there at my unit to the day I went back and I found that my unit had been ransacked. It would have taken hours and made a serious amount of noise, and no one from this business has stepped forward with any actual help. This is all too sketchy. And suspiciously convenient that the cameras were not working. I was told by the site manager, "Myra", that, "...well, it's a storage unit and storage units get broken into..." Wow. Just, wow. That is a GREAT marketing campaign for Extra Space Storage, "Hey, come store your belongings with us! We have no working cameras and heck, it's a storage unit and they get broken into!" I am sure that will bring in many customers. I have called the corporate offices over 16 times, each time I am told that the case is being "escalated" and that "...someone will call you (me) back within 24 to 48 hours..." That call from them has NEVER happened! It is now September 29th., 2025. I did once speak to a "Christine" who is the District Manager. She, at first, seemed like she was trying to be helpful, but then did not actually come through with the promise of getting me the Vice-President's name and number (of Extra Space Storage). She also said to me, in regards to the people living in the units, "...well, it's been difficult to get them out as we don't have a lease with them..." UHHHHH, of course you do not have a rental lease with them for a domicile because what they are doing is ILLEGAL and so there is NO contract. KICK THEM OUT, or at least let customers who are storing their belongings there know that they are at risk!!! The manager MUST know or have known that this is happening, that people are living in the units - I mean, if she does not or did not know that, what is she being paid for, is that not part of her job as manager? After my incident, a few days later, as I was still going through what was left and getting what was left moved out, I saw, nearly every day, other customers coming to check their units and the police coming to make reports as more and more customers found out about the break ins. I am fairly convinced that there are still more people who will be sadly surprised when they return, I am referring to the "Snowbirds" and find their units have been ransacked, as well. Remember, the thieves cut off my lock and put on an Extra Space Storage provided lock on my unit. They very well could have done that to many more. Also, remember that the cameras were not working. I do not care what lame excuse they gave, they had not been working for MONTHS! And yet, they continued to raise the fees, constantly. The Self Storage industry in general is a rip off to those who rent units, and it's in serious need of Congressional oversight and regulations. Rental agreements are written by contract attorneys, and insurance policies are written by contract attorneys....all hired by the industry to favor the industry. The facilities can raise the rents at any given moment and are free & clear of any liability. Extra Space Storage tops the list of consumer rip offs, they lure you in with a eye catching "promotional rate" and within months they double that rate. This is exactly what they did to me. I no sooner got my items settled into my unit, I received a notice stating my rate will be doubled and that "these adjustments help maintain the Extra Safe, Extra Clean standards and excellent customer service experience that you expect". Pure nonsense!! There is no justification for the action Extra Space Storage took except pure corporate greed! And there is no way in Hell their operating costs doubled in six months....not even in 24 months. I was so thoroughly disgusted by the notice of rent increase I immediately made plans to vacate my unit. I can not do business with such an unethical business and refuse to tolerate such greed. I'm extremely disappointed with Emmanuel for never reaching out to me in person, and I seek to change how the Self Storage industry operates and is allowed to do business. Break In & hundreds of dollars worth of items stolen Storage unit was broken into; someone cut the lock and stole an expensive flatiron, women's clothing (mostly dresses), a small power drill and other items. The manager claimed it was an older gentleman who gets confused about which unit is his, he was seen on video that day but they did not want to speak to the renter about it or "point fingers". I highly doubt this story. 20 years of renting storage units in different states, I've never had a break in until now. They also increase their prices by 25-30% every 6 months. They only mail notices of rent increase due to their "policy". They have your email address and could easily email you about it. I would not recommend this place. read more

This place is a complete RIP OFF! I have been using storage facilities for over 30y and never I have been ripped off like this before... I had the space for 1.5y during that time their increased the price 3 times and the last time they did (2 month ago), it went up $80!!!! I called Extra space corporate to ask if they had made some kind of mistake. They suggested I get in contact with the facility's manager to discuss. So I call the location I rented my unit from directly. Spoke to the guy manager there, he has always been nice but his response was: "its all about supply and demand" to which I responded "35% rate increase sounds more like price gouging to me". Staff is nice but BEWARE THE RATE INCREASES! I rented my unit in July 2020. The base rent (you also get charged for insurance) was $165. In December 2020 it was increased to $181. Ok, not too bad as it was a rate special when I rented it. But then in September 2021 to $257 and now June 2022 to $298 PLUS INSURANCE! That's right, in less than two years my base rent went from $165 to $298 per month plus insurance. I agree with others who have said this place is a rip off. In no other industry would these rent increases be acceptable. This is driving people away from Palm Springs. I have talked to numerous people who are going through the same thing at Extra Space Storage facilities. They will tell you this is market rates, that units are in demand. Markets change and there will be a time they need customers and not giving them outrageous rent increases. I will be moving to another location as soon as possible. read more

I want to extend my experience to not only the Manager Emmanuel Martinez. I believe this should be recognized by his superiors. When I moved to town Mar 2023, it was a shot in the dark, looking for storages. So I registered on line, received my information. I called Extra Space Storage and was greeted by Mr. Martinez. Not knowing him- and with my military background, safety and security. Mr. Martinez gave me a visual of the grounds the storage sat upon. He was able to ensure to me, that the location of my unit would be sufficient for what I needed at that time. He was very professional, polite and very informative about his property. My stress went from 10 to 0. Upon meeting Mr. Martinez he showed me my unit, ask if it would be sufficient? He also inspected the unit while I was there, and noticed that there was a lightbulb out. I started moving my things, and Mr. Martinez returned with a ladder and a lightbulb, customer service at its best five stars, I could talk all day, but Getting a second unit should tell you how comfortable I feel for safety and security. I was moving and at the last minute I decided that I needed a storage space. I went online and found this place. Not only did I find a space but I also got a special online rate. It is convenient to get to. Hours of operation are perfect. I had a small glitch with my online registration and the manager helped me correct it. He personally helped. I didn't have to call an 800 number and wait for a person to help me. He simply said to come on down to the office and I'll get it fixed. What great customer service. Let's begin with the reason I first chose EXTRA SPACE STORAGE. After searching through internet like most, I was scanning for a decent price while hopefully not giving up on quality service. EXTRA SPACE seemed to fit the bill, therefore I contacted the office and met Manny and Alex. I honestly didn't expect much, was taken aback at the amazing interaction I was experiencing on only my first visit . Both MANNY and ALEX made me feel like a family friend almost immediately . The first unit chosen for me was one I did not prefer. Never in my life have I witnessed such chivalrous behavior in younger men. (OK ....you're probably saying .....Geez this is a bit inflated, but I'm just telling it like it is. ) In today's day and age employees from every facet of businesses, whether it be a huge corporation like Walmart or a smaller place where you get your oil changed, we all know being treated with kindness and concern is a trait that went out the window years ago. Instead it's employees chatting on their cell phones with friends or other employees (while you're waiting to ask a question mind you) talking about who they partied with the night before . Oh contraire! These two guys had me standing in front of a different unit that fit perfect, before I could say "so what other options do you have." During the several trips to my unit, I was always greeted with a smile, hello, and asked if everything was going ok. WHAT!! Ummmmm who are these people? Sooo helpful WTF are they running a fever. LOL I cannot forget the move out ..easy peezy ....!!.. agoNEW Very unhappy since day one. Moved in November 15th or so. Needed a 10x20 to store a car. Rented a unit for over $350.00. (Don't remember the exact amount). My vehicle did not fit. What they rented me was not 20 feet deep. My vehicle extended more than a foot. I wasn't refunded my money. I moved it to a different facility but did rent a small unit to store about 10-15 boxes. They quoted me a price that was about $150.00 a month for a much larger unit than I needed. On March 1st, I received an email that stated my rate has increased to $250.00. No warning, no notice. They just took the money from my account. I decided to move to another facility. Found one for $100.00 a month. When I went back to Extra Space Storage, they didn't even ask me why I'm moving, they took me off auto pay and told me that once I leave them my google review, they would move me out. Ive been with this storage facility for about 5 years and every year they increase their prices. This year they increased their price 277%. I went from paying 90 a month to $230. Often their gate is broken and last year my unit was broken into. Yet the claim no liability. So for no increased value or security then want almost $3000/year. Get real this was the worst storage experience of mt life and i would never rent from them again. I would give them zero stars but this app won't let me.
