That being said, my experience has left a bad taste in my mouth after receiving a small postcard 4 months after move-in notifying me that the monthly storage free was going to DOUBLE next month! I've had storage units with Extra Space at multiple locations on and off for 10+ years now. Extra Space has always increased rent by a noticeable amount, but in the past they occurred once or twice a year and were a fraction of the amount. Alternatively, I had a storage unit at Public Storage before relocating and received one small rate increase over a year or two.
