Yesterday (6-11-26) I received a notice in the mail that my rental rate was doubling. The rental agent did not disclose that my rental rate was a special introductory rate. I rented a unit and determined I did not need it. Upon requesting a portion of the fees as a refund I have been given the run around, "we are reviewing, district mgrs are looking at it". Then someone called and told me we will send you a check because our systems cannot process a refund to your credit card. No check No refund, Just management hyperbole. I'm not someone that typically uses a storage unit but due to putting our house on the market we needed to purge some items in a hurry. The representative was nice to deal with and helped my wife pick out a unit of the right size quickly. We discussed not knowing how long we would need it and they said we can prorate the final month, once we get to that point. What was not very well discussed is to get a prorated amount you must notify the office before the next billing cycle. We went 20 days into the next cycle before we cleared out and we were told too bad, we can't prorate after the current month is billed. Now we are out nearly $100, which is not something to easily dismiss. I called the corporate number and they were friendly enough to "look into the matter" but ultimately said that since we did not follow the guidelines set forth in the lease agreement that they would not be allowed to refund me any of the final month. Overall the facility was well kept and clean, but make sure you pay attention to the fine print! read more
